When I was 12 yrs old I used to help my Uncle with his dairy cows and I remember watching him use the nippers on the cows hooves. This was in the 70's. Good times!
I love the support that all the different hoof trimming channels have for each other, and that regardless of what channel it is, everyone sees little babies and gets excited and makes a little calf spotlight segment in their videos. Warms the heart on a cold night!
So right, Nia! Now Hoof GP has me hooked on a sheep shearing channel, where I watch all the adorable lambs! But yes, it’s lovely the way they all give a shout-out to each other. One person’s success helps the others succeed because we’re all one big happy herd! Would sure be nice if more of the world worked that way.
We take things for granted these days. It was more labour intensive back then. Nice to hear a Shout out to the Hoof GP, I watch them also. I think all you guys do a terrific job. 👍🥂
Nice work Tom!! Nothing wrong with the old way but I bet it makes sore and tired hands at the end of a long day trimming!!!!! Stay safe and best wishes from Kentucky!!!!
I'm sad that you had to struggle with electrical problems, Tom. It's a blessing for the cows that you retained your low-tech skills. ;) Hopefully the repair works for a long time. It's amazing about The Hoof GP reaching 1 million subscribers. I think you and Gareth will achieve the same popularity. Personally, I like your humour better, but don't tell Graeme that! LOL See you next time.
@@tomthetrimmer2857 Definitely cute little tykes. I'm not sure why they aren't with their mommies, though. I keep hearing that calves are taken from their mothers, but it seemed so odd. I didn't grow up on a farm, but in a rural town surrounded by dairy farms. I always saw the calves out in the pastures with their mommies in the spring. Wouldn't it be less work for the farmer that way instead of having to bottle feed them?
Well done Tom excellent video. Good to see someone in same age bracket still trimming.Got one problem though next time slow travelling filming down, viewer's would appreciate the beauty of fermanagh countryside 🙉🙉🙉🙉👍👍👍👍👍
Tom, I think those nippers need some WD40 😁 I remember these days 🙂 Farriers were under paid even back then 😌 And when there was a problem, usually the 🐮 did not fair well 😍 Thank you for the nursery tour
I can see that Tom like Gareth changes knives red for left blue for the right I believe. Also I am so glad Tom you no longer have to do things circa 1986 but it is good that you have that knowledge to fall back on when you need it.
01:27 - 02:27 I slowed the video down to 1/4 speed so I could watch the scenery more easily. I think it would be nice if, sometimes, you videoed your travel route for those of us across the pond who may never get to travel to Northern Ireland.
@@tomthetrimmer2857 Still glad though, we had no internet and cells, we played outside, we had good music, and now we do have all these internet and cells things. Our generations got the best of both worlds really :D
Hey Tom, don't know who's cuter, you or Crazy Daisy😂. Bet the grinder has made a big difference in the time spent on the cows. Easier on the arms, wrists, and hands too I suspect, though maybe it just means more trimming per day. Love your exercise routine and introductory video too. Follow Hoof GP too.. you are all amazing.
I hope you don't mind, but I would like to add an honorable mention about a separate hoof trimmer UA-camr subscriber milestone. Nate the Hoof Guy just reached 250K subscribers in the past month!
Hello fellow's Mr. I was notice that you have a lot of swelling under your eyes, it's when you try to breathe thru your nose your sinuses are either swollen so you can hardly get a smeeg of oxegan thru and causing the swelling. What helped me Benadryl for allergies can be dust pet dander cigarette's the other thing probably will help don't laugh preparation-H it's ove🐦🍔🍔🍟🍟🍿🍿🍰☕☕🍼🍸🍸r the counter not expensive reduces swelling like a champ. I had a lady friend who used it on her face I guess she used to fight a lot.

Love the sepia-toned filter at the beginning for that nostalgic touch!😻

Tom!! You better be careful driving on the wrong side of the road!! 🤣
Just a risk taker 🤣😂🤣
I am glad you know how to do it with the knife only.
With the electric off it's she stuck in the crush?
Lisa Thankyou
03:46 In '86 I'd already been on the planet 4-1/2 decades. So possibly about as long as you. LOL ;)
New job
Thankyou very much
What does TEC tv stands for?
Truly Exceptional Care !
Of all things
Power tools make a difference in time and difficulty, But the awesome knife skills are prominent.
'86.. yeah.. I was 13 going on 14 that year :D Didn't know nothin'. LOL
Ahh.. the year of Take My Breathe Away, and Reet Petite
Also.. if people grab my toes that way and wiggle 'em like that they get kicked hahahaha
Wat a time to be alive

Ah yes - back when digital dermititis was a fear of Dermot's long fingers!
Did you have a mullet back in '86 Tom?
How did you know my style so well ? 🤣😂

Def Crazy Daisy ! 🤣 yes the grinders are a great help, but still pulls on the shoulders
Thankyou for watching

Ok hope this isn't a stupid question. But what are the two bump you don't talk about them .so just curious
Tom , What year did grinders come in to play?
About mid 90s but the discs where not up to much until later on when they then had replaceable blades
When you first started was the crush a manual set up ?
Yes everything was manual
There was no need to hit the gym 🤣
I can't believe they had crushes back then...lol. What did they do before crushes?
💖💖💖
👍
Thanks Tomasz
You don't look old enough to know about the good old days
Linda Thankyou
Yea like not being sober at work. Jk jk great video.
