She speaks with more of an Indian English accent in the show than she does in this clip. It's always surprising to hear actors who put on an accent speak with their native accent.

In the show she’s a character from India, who speaks english excellently. IRL she’s British Indian with a native english accent. Think it makes sense for her character to have a slight accent.
i noticed that but have never heard an indian english accent, so i wasn’t sure if what i was picking up on was there! very interesting to hear both accents

Coz in our country dark is not considered beautiful. It's a shame, everyone wants to be fairer.
Not really in every industry. This taboo has been broken in lot of Malayalam & Marathi movies. We just need you be better actor, skin colour doesn’t matter, these are least glamourised industries as well.

@@Kathakathan11 this taboo has not been broken yet. Where are the dark skin acrtress in marathi industry? They even make fun of dark skin in some of their movies or tv shows. Also skin color matters for these people, even now also most of the people think dark means ugly in India. Tha's why there is no representation for dark skin.

Also don't forget Mindy Kaling and her show. Even though I am not Indian, I enjoyed seeing a hip, smart and fashionable darker toned woman being the main character and having main character energy. I haven't seen the show in ages but I do believe there was an AA lady in the cast. I can't recall how she was written but representation in great, well written shows is always nice to see.
