RE: We are one race. I whole-heartily agree. What I find amazing, from a Christian perspective, is how many pastors and preachers (of what) refuse to acknowledge or understand this. God has only ever separated people into 2 groups; righteous and unrighteous. If a pastor is recognizing any other man-created groups, who is he in alignment with from the pulpit, men, or God?

Voodie is wrong on so many fronts. John Lennox often says, “Any scientist is just as dumb as the next person outside of his or her respective field.” This video is indicative of that. Voodie should differentiate between the social Gospel, which is part and parcel of the Gospel of Christ and the social gospel, which is promulgated by the culture-and everything that they say isn’t wrong. Martin Luther King summarized the social Gospel of Christ in a nutshell: “Jesus said that ‘man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that precedes out of the mouth of God’ ; the fact that Jesus said ‘alone’ meant that man still needed bread to live.” The fact that Voodie has a modicum of freedom in America, that he doesn’t have to have a child calling him “boy” and he has to address the child as “sir,” that he doesn’t have to sit in the back of restaurants, buses, denied services because he’s black (You see the foolishness of trying to navigate the world raceless!), the fact that he can vote and enjoy many rights that my grandparents couldn’t is not because of his white evangelical brothers and sisters. It’s because men and women who moved beyond provincial and racist theological schools, and understood that they had a right to live in human decency and weren’t going to accept anything less. They understood Imago Dei (the image of God) in a more intimate and less abstract way. Voodie’s illustration of the number of black football players having hegemony is embarrassing. On the football field everybody is playing by the same rules and on the same field-not a dilapidated field for one race and a new turf field for the other. Life does not work like football, but I’ll give Voodie a better analogy of what blacks have endured in America using an illustration of football. Imagine that a black team and a white team are playing a football game; the white team keeps cheating and the referee is cheating along with the white team. Every time the black team comes up with a plan, the white team and the referee find a way to cheat them. Finally, with five minutes left in the game and the whites are up 48-0, the referee says that he’s going to call the game fairly, but he says, “I can’t guarantee equal outcome but only a fair chance.” The black team is stunned by his response. Do you see how ridiculous it all sounds? When Paul was addressing the Jews and Gentiles in his letter to the Romans, Paul was not an ahistorical guy; he understood that history and context matters: “What advantage has the Jew or what profit is circumcision? Great in every way. They (Jews) were first trusted with the oracles of God. What then? Did their unbelief nullify the law of God?” (Romans 3:1-3). Paul was making a point that Jews had an advantage over Gentiles-based on their history-when it came to recognizing God’s Messiah. The irony of Voodie critiquing Martin Luther King’s theology is that he is free to navigate the circles he does because of King, not by preaching the Gospel as he understands it.

"Every time black team comes up with a plan, the white team and the referee find a way to cheat them." - that's the very definition of competition. The analogy also suffers from the issue of a referee - whatever that means in the current context. If it means the law, lawyers and judges - then they're bought in the service of competition. Your beef seems to be that somehow competition ought to be stopped - that's not possible this side of paradise.
The current tactic being used by the powers that bei.e. intersectionality is a red herring - the answer to why the current lot of is so? It is because they're being oppressed. But this is beyond parody. The biggest bully in a country is not the corpocracy, or the middle class-cracy - it is the government-o-crazy. Look at the works of government - they've been trying to alleviate poverty for more than 50 years. Is that why the inner cities are booming metroplexes of equity, inclusivity and mobility? No, the academic lap dogs of progressivism are trying desperately to distract from their record of consistent failure. They've promised heaven and they've delivered hell.
Christians are the only group that can get past the secular competition because no physical or mental trait, not even the works of such traits if ever they be causally connected holds any merit in the face of God. But brotherhood is the currency of the kingdom of Jesus.

@@ajsirch , coming up with a way to cheat others is not "the very definition of competition". When my black father, having graduated from college and passed the requisite exams, applied for a position at a medical lab in 1955, he was denied. He was, however, offered a janitorial position, provided that he would train a white applicant for the very same job he had applied for, an applicant who had neither graduated from college nor passed his board exams. When my father protested, he was told, "You don't have to work here." Does this sound like "the very definition of competition" to you?
