I like this more, theeyve made kung lao sort of dirty by making him full of jelousy to liu kang. In former games, his story was originally to stop fighting and live peacfully after mortal kombat and only come back to aveenge liu kangs death by deadly alliance and in mkx he just want to protect earthrealm from other realm and fight with kung jin

There hás been plenty of material on MK1 connection Kung Lado to Onaga, If the Dragon king is in fact the final boss...i Hope that Kung Lao is the Champion who Will put him down instead of Raiden
