That was literally the whole point of Tanjiro gathering the Upper Moons blood. There isnt anyone alive who can win against Muzan so they needed to weaken him.
It's not as much fear as knowing perfectly well he can erase them from existence with a single thought. And Doma has no true emotions so his fear is an act, which annoys Muzzy to no end.
I believe that Muzan is the strongest character in the series. Yoriichi can't beat him if he was to go all out. He attacked Muzan when he didn't didn't have his blood demon art activated. Yoriichi himself even stated that 1 hit from Muzan would kill him. That's enough proof for me.

One thing is that Muzan lost his control over Tamayo and Nezuko which he created, soooo he don't have control over every demon he created. But mostly good job
Spoiler alert: It makes sense for him to have control over demons in his immediate area tho rather than everywhere (outside of the curse). The only demons he can control fully that aren't in his immediate area are the 12 moons since he can summon them whenever he wants. If he has control over every demon everywhere, he could've summoned Nezuko the moment she conquered the sun since he knew immediately at that time.
That's easy to circumvent tho. Most of the effects are for aesthetic purposes anyway so just make it so you can see the water dragon but it doesn't actually make a physical water dragon. Some of the techniques are funky tho like the waterfall basin stopping Tanjiro's fall or the whirlpool actually making a whirlpool if used in water. This works better if you take tanjiro who has 2 breathing styles. Other people watching him fight knows what breathing technique he's using so that's that. To be fair, it is kinda dumb to have Tanjiro make a miniature lake every time he uses his water breathing lol.

More examples are the mist breathing creating actual mist that muichiro can hide in and surprise his enemies, wind breathing making wind blades and torrents and rengoku leaving scorch marks on the ground when he used rengoku. I say we have at most 3 seasons of Demon Slayer left but I truly think we have 2. They’ll more than likely combine the Hashira training arc and final battle arc for 2 season and then give us season 5 for the infinity castle arc and sunrise countdown arc as one. With the epilogue being part 2 or the final season (like 1-2 episodes if that)

Damn near every Hashira who was fighting Muzan actually awoke their demon slayer mark, on top of Tanjiro (And each one is shaped after their breathing technique. Gyomei has cracks on his arms, Muichiro looks like mist, Mitsuri has 2 hearts, Tanjuro is obviously flames, Sanamei looks like a windmill, Giyu looks like water). That means he fought 6 Hashira level swordsman at the same time with marks, and still damn near got away. Snake guy, Inosuke, and Zenitsu are the 3 who don't have marks shown iirc, and even then snake guy supposedly awakens it under his clothes
The crazy part is, if Muzan flees all he needs to do is wait another 5 years so the marks would make the swordmen die. That is how great this battle hinges on. Muzan needs to flee before sunrise. The corps only has this one shot.

I never really had a chance to get into Demon Slayer (though this video makes me kind of want to check it out) but the whole breathing technique thing reminds me a lot of the sword forms from Gamaran, in that they seem to be based on crazy application of technically real phenomena cranked up to eleven.
