that bass line!!!! what a mood. "this failure has made the creator" is such an amazingly ambiguous line.

This was really good. I liked the slow grovy bass line. Thank you once again for sharing this with us. I hope things start looking up for you brother.

A beautiful song and a beautiful album. Mikael has this comforting voice when he's singing clean, he always lulls me in, no matter if the song is heavy or not. Even when he screams, there is a tone in his voice that makes it very comfortable for me.
I have never really looked into the lyrics for Opeth songs, time to change that. Thanks for sharing this. Much love, friend.

I love that Damnation album and am extremely happy to see that Opeth are finally reissuing a new 20th Anniversary edition vinyl of Damnation. Killer album.

I loved this, it was beautiful. I looked up the lyrics and followed along. A deep song, full of meaning in everyone's life at some time or another.

This album is being reissued next month, I saw them play this in London on the Lamentations dvd shoot. If you long closely you'll see me in the queue outside haha.

@tubelious I'd argue that the Royal Albert Hall show was better for me lol

@chilliwilliams2525 I love the two-set duality of the lamentations,PQ is garbage, but dts5.1 SQ is pretty good. I only miss Advent from the set list. I haven't bought any DVDs since 2008ish, only Bluray discs. :)

listened to Blackwater Park a lot back in the day and would try to recommend that album to people when metal would come up in conversations. I think that changed when I finally got around to listening to Damnation, and Deliverance. I would recommend both albums to show how flippn' cool and diverse the band was. BWP was the first album I listened to with my Stepbrother, but those next two albums really drove home for me that we both had awesome taste in music. 🤘🤘
BTW, I just saw recently that Opeth is reissuing Damnation on vinyl for it's 20th anniversary.

My favourite song from the damnation album. Even by the music only. The melodies in the chorus are so good. As a foreign english speaker I tend to like songs mostly through the music. At the beginning at least. The lyrics maybe add richness to it later on, depends on the song.

Really nice, i liked the guitar/sitar like sound and the bass interplay. There was a lot here but you're right, this is much closer to the prog i would listen to.. PF or Steven Wlison vibes in parts, and parts that were pure Opeth. I don't quite know what the song is about, i looked up the lyrics and i still don't know.. but it feels like loss and sorrow, esp with the music i hear. Loss of faith, whether it's a person, God, life, humanity.. I'm not sure but if I'd guess it's open to interpret. That's the beauty of good lyrics, the same lyrics can mean something different to different people. TY for bringing another song with special meaning to you, that we can react to! ❤ and ✌️

great album, melancholic vibes, contrast to the other Opeth albums, Martin Lopez had huge influence in Opeth and it's not the same since his exit from the band
