- While traveling in Nicaragua, we see surf on the forecast and divert all travel for a trip to the beach. We get good waves at Playa Colorados, and go to the San Juan Del Sur Beer Fest.

Thanks for going to Nicaragua, it remains largely undiscovered to tourists.
Not by the looks of this
Glad that’s the case man! You don’t want to have massive tourism there, the underlying benefits out of it come with massive disadvantages as well, trust me
Great another video from ya. Hope all is well. Congratulations back then !
I love this video, love it!!!!! Happy Aniversary!!
You guys are awesome 👍! Congratulations 🎉 on your anniversary ❤️!!!!!!
Fantastici
Gracia's 😀
Great episode guys! Very chill. Loved the surfing footage accompanied with the Spanish guitar. Also enjoyed watching Amy build her surfing skills! Gracias.
Thanks Justin! Good input
@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal Very much my pleasure. Thanks for making my Sunday evenings better. Would love to have some beers with you both some day. Cheers from Ontario Canada!
Waoo que precioso lugar de Nicaragua felicitaciones Nicaragua 💚 💜 muy bello.
The surfing footage reminds me of the film "Endless Summer." It is a documentary made in the 1960s about three young Americans travelling the world to find great waves.
I've watched it many times Walt. An absolute classic.
@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal I have completed watching your return trip up to the crossing into Mexico. Are you guys back home in the US now?
Nice barrel by the way Matt
My GF is watching your video right now LOL I saw my truck in front of Rosita'a next to Pizza Cono in your video 🤣🤣🤣 couple years later we are here now jaja in the same spot 😇
Great place to be 😁
I like this beach I stayed on top of the hill at an awesome little hotel the Arte Sano and there is a new hostel very close by that just opened a month or so ago. There was a really nice quiet beach just on the other side of the point. Neighboring beach san juan del sur side south. Little cantina with ceviche and cheap prices.
HALLO... FROM INDONESIA
great content!
Thanks. If you liked that, checkout my most recent surf trip ua-cam.com/video/dKr-DvtTe24/v-deo.html I think my video making improved👍
I still enjoy your videos.
I’d be worn out just doing part of what y’all did in a day on your trip!
Haha. Thanks. We got pretty worn out sometimes too, but we're happily do it all again😁
So Nice!! Thanks
That’s awesome you got to drive the Pan-American highway
Hopefully we get another update soon, with everything that’s going on I hope you guys are well and safe. Thanks for sharing the adventure
I know it's been a while, but I am taking this time to work on the next episode. We are self quarantining in Mexico at the moment.
The Traveling Together Journal thanks for the update!!!! Be safe!!!! Looking forward to the next episode 😁
Nice waves !!!
You guys are the coolest. My kids and I love to watch your videos. You inspire us to travel! Do you guys still do the beach clean ups for donations? Keep up the good work and be safe.
Thanks Jason. Glad you guys are enjoying the show. We do still do the beach cleanups in theory, though it's been a while since we have received any of those donations. Here's a link if you want to know more about that www.patreon.com/thetravelingtogetherjournal
Do you have a destination in mind for your next trip?
Have you disclosed what the next trip will be with your new vehicle?
No. Africa is definitely the goal, but we have a long way to go financially before we can start that journey and we're so unpredictable, who knows what we'll actually end up doing. haha
The Traveling Together Journal something very cool I bet! 😀 whatever and wherever it is, il be following you.
@@coryyoung8289 thanks
Hermoso Nicaragua saludos desde México
7:40 yeeewwww!
Yeah. Pretty stoked on that one. Might be the best filmed-wave of the trip.
@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal I agree!
Great video. I love SJDS for the accessibility, beautiful water and great waves but the crowds are a huge deterrent for me. Check out the central/north coast. Not as offshore or blue but it's completely empty with some great quality waves. Love me some Gallo pinto!
For sure. I lived in Playa Gigante for a couple of years, so I managed to get up north a few times. Lots of empty beaches up there 👍(as long as it's not Semana Santa)
thanks for watching!
The Traveling Together Journal I managed a surf hostel outside of Managua. Semana Santa is definitely an experience 😂😂 cheers dude
❤️❤️❤️
Congrats for your anniversary. Glad to see you are still posting vids from your great C.A. adventure. Did you see mostly North American and European tourist? Glad you made it home safely with no major breakdowns or losses.
Most other long-term travelers were North American, European, or Australian. There were a few from Latin America, but I don't think we met any from Asia or Africa. Lots of local tourist in each country out for the weekends and holidays though.
When exactly was this beer fest taking place? Looks like turism is starting to pick up again in Nicaragua which is great!
I don't recall the exact date, but it was late August. They have quite a few events throughout the year
All I know its called Sunday funday fest at San Juan del sur.
Sunday Funday is a good time, and so is San Juan Del Sur Day(once a year) This was the 1st San Juan Del Sur Beer Fest We've been too. Also fun😁
Sick left barrel 🤙 whats your power set-up for the fridge?
Thanks
300W solar aray, 150 Ah AGM battery bank, also wired into truck's alternator as a backup power source.
Works great in South West USA or Northern Mexico, but I would double the battery bank if I was going back to the rainy tropics.
Cheers guys, amazing video :) Is the country safe to travel or should one be careful in some regions?
You should try to be safe in any country. The capital city, Managua has some sketchy neighborhoods and if you are driving around much the cops will try to get some money out of you at some point, but overall its a beautiful country with friendly people.
Happy Anniversary 👍😊
Thanks Alex
Are you going to make any more videos?
yes. I'm working on the next episode 👍
Nice waves !!
What time of year did you go there ?
Thanks. this was in August
How you make this trip from South America to baja.
We didn't go to South America, but many people ship their vehicles around the Darien Gap on container ships to get from South America to Central America and drive the rest of the way.
And, Amy, why don't you take the wheel once in a while?
That's on me, Steve. Amie is a good driver (probably better than me) but she doesn't notice things with the car like the temp gauge moving slightly, or a vibration in the steering wheel under certain conditions, so I like to drive to be aware of what's going on with the truck since it's on me to decide what to do when things go wrong.
Hi guys. Awesome video and trip! How did you pass your lovely dog through the Costa Rica to Nic border? I live in CR and I would like to take my dog like you guys, is it to much trouble? Thanks for any advice
Hi Felipe. It was very easy. Just get a "health certificate" from the veterinarian in Costa Rica stating that the dog is in good health and has its rabies vaccination. This was all we needed to get the dog into nicaragua and Costa Rica.
Thanks for watching and have an awesome trip!
@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal thanks guys I appreciate it a lot. Blessings for all your trips
Which camp table are you guys using? It seems to have held up well.
its a King Camp brand table. amzn.to/31rJi1N
Did you guys have to pay at Playa Maderas?
We didn't pay to camp. We made an agreement with the restaurant that we could park in their parking lot and use the toilets as long as we both ate a meal at the restaurant each day. They make a great nicaraguan breakfast with eggs, tostones, and the salty fresh cheese!
