The thing I always remembered loving about Joe Bob Briggs growing up was the easy confidence he had before the camera. the guy has a natural charisma, and for years I'd assumed he was some B-movie star who'd achieved notoriety years ago and chose to retire hosting movies.
I used to read about this movie in The Monster Times when I was a kid, and they wondered if it was real. When I finally saw it as an adult at the Thalia, I have to admit, I teared up a bit. Fangoria interviewed Steckler in the 80s
These are opening clips on DVD reissues, where JBB provides audio commentary. If you look for the title of this video you'll find some of them in full, so if you have the film in question you can have his commentary.
I first read about this flick in the compendium of music critic Lester Bangs that came out in the 80s. It was my introduction to psychotronic film in general; he wrote a really great piece on this.
I miss Joe Bob's shows. Great to see these again.
Love Ya Joe Bobb and Ray Dennis!
I love the alternate title "Teenage Psycho Meets Bloody Mary". I wish this title would be used again.
I think people thought,for the longest time,that this film didn't really exist because it was featured prominently in Harry & Michael Medved's book "The Golden Turkey Awards"---which they begin by stating that one of the films listed in the book doesn't really exist.
snarkus63 i know im SUPER late with this, but the movie that didnt exist in the Medved's Golden Turkey book was "Him-The Gay Life of Jesus ". Just fyi. It took me 20 years before i found out.
@snarkus63
and which film in the book was it that didn't exist? the answer : "Dog Of Norway."
And no, I didn't just go look that up, I actually knew it already. I'm getting to the point where I could host my own monstervision withall the useless trivia I've picked up over time.
@LAVATORR
but-much like mike nelson from mst3k-joe bob was just such a really good writer playing an exagerated version of himself.
What is this from, was it an actual show or some online show of his
So what's this from? Is this a show? Or what?
@trapadoored "Dog Of Norway" is the fake film!
HOW could I have missed that?!"Muki The Wonderhound" appears in a photo with the Medveds at the book's conclusion--AND "dog" can be slang for "bad movie";in fact,they use it in their synopsis of the "movie"!!
whats with that loud shirt?
When falls doing the drunk dance routine I fell in love with this movie !
