Both colours were amazing, especially the brown one. There are lots of marigold planted in the park near my home. Once the flowers start to bloom and start to fall, I'll pick them.
If you wanted something more in the realm of forest green, (of course natural dyeing so YMMV) I think that if you mordant the wool with Alum soak it like you did for the dark brown, then briefly dip the wool in an iron bath, you will get something more green and a bit lighter.
I think these colors are gorgeous. Thank you for your enthusiasm. You are inspiring to me. I also think there was a reaction with the pan you used for the darker yarn. That may explain what happened to create such a rich hue. It looked like it was an aluminum pan.? Could be... I love this channel, glad I found you! Thanks again.✨🙏
Just planted marigolds....I am in Tasmania so we are moving into Spring/Summer....can’t wait till the season end to play with Marigolds...enjoy your cast so much. As a new spinner I am intrigued by the dyeing process. Look forward to your future casts💐
This video is so helpful and WOW that dark green/brown is amazing! I'm in the middle of dyeing with marigolds for the first time as I grew a bunch this year and we just got our first frost. My first batch is with alum mordant and it's a beautiful greenish yellow. Next up I want to try with iron mordant after seeing your gorgeous results!
Although you made this a while back , I just wanted to say thanks for the helpful , fun and easy to follow marigold dyeing shows :) Wow ! That was beautiful dark chocolate ♥️
Hey Laura what if you did used the wood ash solution instead what colour would you get, thus is beautiful I would love to see the wood ash at work from the marrigold
I collect rusty items in the city on the ground (wear gloves) then,I set the items into a large glass jar. Then, I mix 1 part vinegar with 2 parts water, and cover the rusty items with the liquid. I leave the jar alone for a month or so, then use the liquid ad my iron solution. You can also buy iron powder online!
Cool dark yarn. I got extremely annoyed with the like bubbles And subscribe bubbles that kept popping up. I wanted to watch the video, not a bunch of poppy little buttons interrupting what I was looking at.
❤ that dark brown is sooooo cozy holy moly ❤ ty for sharing
That dark green/brown would be a great base color for a Scottish plaid!
Hi so glad I found you. I have some that I use in prayer. Love them. South Africa
they smell so lovely! Mine have just started blooming this season!

That hand-spun yarn curling in the hot water looked EXACTLY like you were cooking instant ramen noodles! :D
Aww, you are a great cat mom! C J looks like my Tom Tom!

Thanks Lori 👍

My black walnut with iron was really dark like that. But I love the hint of green you can see in it! Fantastic on both

Beautiful. Love the colors you got. It was also nice to see CJ. Enjoy your weekend
🎄Thanks for the kind words Brenda and for watching 🎄
Those turned out great. I saw someone use rhubarb leaves and it turned out a really beautiful moss green. I hope I can find some to do next year.
Thank you Lou!

Have you ever used a Crome mordant?
What form do you buy the iron/where can you get it?

Such a fabulous video! Do you need to dry the blossoms first or can you use them fresh?
Hmmmmmm. Hope it’s for sale. I’ve been loving greens lately.
Thanks for watching Keeley. Best way to keep up with all of my sales is to keep an eye on my website lastminutelaura.ca . It would be there first =)
Are the flowers Pot Marigolds (Calendula) or are they African Marigolds / French Marigolds (Tagetes) ?????
How much iron did you add to that Marigold bath?? Love it!
Thanks HaLee! I was just eye balling it =) Thank you for watching and Happy Holidays!
