  • Here's my Axial Yeti "Not so RTR" Build Complete video. This build has been a great project and it's quickly winding down with just some lights to wire up and adding some scale accessories. Although the KIT has been released (and I am working on building that!) the RTR was the debut of the Yeti series from Axial. What a great platform to modify and make your own!
    Check out The RCNetwork on Facebook for detailed build shots:

    Here's some info on the Axial Yeti and where I got mine:
    www3.towerhobbi...
    The Yeti™ is a skillfully engineered rock racing vehicle with a solid rear axle and independent front suspension. It's built to withstand the punishment of rock racing at a high level of performance. Its distinct aesthetic and technical elements were inspired by full-size desert trucks and various off road vehicles. The Yeti™ is a no-compromise mix of speed and handling unlike any other R/C vehicle. Its strategically engineered design supplies bashing stamina while delivering a high level of technical rock racing abilities without compromise in either category. It's powered by a 3150KV 4-pole brushless motor which provides the perfect amount of torque and speed for this rock racing monster. The long can design provides a massive amount of power, especially when powered by 3S. In the suspension department, the Yeti™ is equipped with an Independent Front Suspension [IFS] system to help maintain high speed stability when running through a diverse range of terrain. Precision machined aluminum shocks are standard equipment and deliver smooth suspension movement for consistent handling.
    It's as serious as you want it to be, with true fun factor characteristics that make it a blast to drive. The Yeti™, dirt's new friend.
    ROCK RACING
    Rock Racing is the next up and coming form of R/C off road racing. Enthusiasts are taking it upon themselves to go back to the dirt with tracks composed of loose surfaces and big rocks. It's distinct aesthetic and technical elements were inspired by full-size desert trucks and various off road vehicles, especially rock racers, which are built for high speed performance through flat desert sections, and durability when tackling extreme off road terrain.
    SKILLFULLY ENGINEERED
    The Yeti™ is a skillfully engineered rock racing vehicle with a solid rear axle and an independent front suspension that supplies unforgiving bashing stamina while delivering a high level of technical rock racing abilities without compromising in either category. INDEPENDENT FRONT SUSPENSION
    The Yeti™ is equipped with an Independent Front Suspension [IFS] system to help maintain high speed stability when running through a diverse range of terrain. Every rock the Yeti™ will encounter is individual. They come in random sizes and are scattered throughout the course, making the terrain varied from one side of the vehicle to the other. The IFS system allows you to better control the intended direction of travel at high speeds when one side is adjusting to overcome road obstructions. This stability that the IFS front end provides is paramount when rock racing.

    WOW!!! Absolutely SICK!!! I have watched a million RC builds and that yeti is by far none the best. I am ordering the kit next week, but will not be going the Tekin route $$$$. Any other suggestions? The alum panels make that buggy, I'm sold.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  9 років тому

      rodney leonard Hey Rodney! Yeah, the Yeti turned out nice! And the CarterFab panels are super nice. As for electronics, the RTR electronics are decent - Castle 550 with a sidewinder ESC, but lack the sensored set up I like from Tekin. There's also the MMP/Castle 550, but you may have to get that a la carte. I'm sure there's a ton of over seas options as well, but I like the Tekin stuff. It's solid and you won't have to worry about it overheating of glitching

      Just bought the kit version! In your professional opinion what would be the top 3 things you would upgrade for durability?

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  9 років тому

      Get the MIP rear driveshaft, Vanquish steering rack and the Crawler Innovations DW standard foams for the KITs wheels/Tires. Maybe lastly, a set of Vanquish SLW hubs for the stock wheels. That's it.

    Hi Rich My build is coming along just waiting for the electronics to arrive ( same as this) Takes forever to get to Australia :) I have been told I should use a Castle BEC to power the servo Whats your thoughts as the RX8 is capable of 7.4v but I have been told it is a must to fit the BEC and the RX8 will love you for it?

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  9 років тому

      Stephen Galvin The RX8 Gen 2 is capable of handling most servos. Savox may need an external BEC, as they're the hungriest servos on the market. Futaba, Hitec are fine without

    • @Galvoflysoz
      @Galvoflysoz 9 років тому

      Thanks Rich I have gone with OMG massive power and great specs, Awesome quality as well. Was recommended by a few of the crawlers here. At 6v it puts out 370oz of torque and 470 at 7.4v could run this comfortably at 6v I think. www.rcomg.net/index.php?act=pShow&id=71

    one of my complaints with the Yeti is that it actually rolls too easy for me. Stock tires provide enough traction that I roll more often than I want. Going to try some wider tires. And that sag in the rear end! Under power the rear just sits on the ground. Other than that I'm lovin my Yeti!

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  9 років тому

      Colton B I ran the Stock KIT version with the Falken tires and Crawler Innovations and it did okay......The version in the video, I ran the Vanquish Methods with the CFM 1" cans, CI DW Foams and the Ottsix Voodoo tires. Huge Improvement over the stockers. The tires just stuck! As for the rear end sagging, It will happen. I increased the rear oil to 30 wt and it's better, but I just sourced some better springs

    • @ColtonB
      @ColtonB 9 років тому

      The RCNetwork thanks or the reply! I'll have to subscribe. I am waiting until summer to drop a bunch of money on the Yeti. Regardless, I'm getting rid of the sloppy steering NEXT! I was hoping my servo would fail so I could get an warranty one upgraded to the XT55 but I want the servo you have.
      The o my other dissapointment I've had is the amount of parts on back order from both AxialRacing and Vanquish...and RC4WD has plenty of backorder parts.
      Have a good one!

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  9 років тому

      Colton B Good deal! The steering will improve greatly by adding the Vanquish steering items (posts and rack) if you have the RTR. The the Servo will be the next great improvement. Knuckles and hubs will make it complete
