I got my pair a few days ago, the colour wave is lovely and the cushioning is next level. The outsole grip is so good it feels like the shoe sticks to the grounds (in a good, assuring way), it's wonderful.

I believe this level of cushioning and design is more fitted towards long, hiking walks (thru hikes) rather than runs. Can definitely see the benefit of the cushioning on hundreds of kilometers, like, for example, walking on the non-technical Camino de Santiago

Ageed, I'm planning to use these for backcountry backpacking this season, if the snow should ever melt in the California Sierra Nevadas.
They are pretty fun for bombing down groomed trails though.

Too much cushioning probably will save you knees from the straight line down impact, but forces joints and tendons to additional work to keep your foot stable. Backpacking requires stability. It’s not natural for human to walk on the pillows. In my opinion high level of the cushioning is only for entry level, overweight people just to help them get used to running without much knee pains.

Regarding UTMB, the best piece of advice i can give for someone who wants to finish the race strong, is to do for 4 weeks, close to race day, the total distance and elevation of utmb each week. In other words do one UTMB per week, for 4 weeks, just before tapering.

glad if this worked for you, I felt great the whole way round (for just over 30 hours) and never did 100 miles in a week, I would say people just need to do what they know works for them - big mileage/elevation is great if you can do it but something like this could lead to injury/missing the race if you aren't used to it

I’m 3 runs in with these now and I’m actually surprised how stable they are. Used them on the Serpent Trail today and they were a dream.

I'm glad you like them Dean and they're performing well for you but I have no idea how you can call them stable? How can a shoe with all that very soft cushioning and under your foot feel stable? 🤔

@@Run4Adventure I’m not sure you can call them unstable when you haven’t run them on anything remotely technical tbh. My only expectation of them being unstable was from your initial video.

Bit late to this party! But I've just got a pair, on my first run I found them odd, they're soft but there was something they made me uncomfortable, after the run I noticed the insole is really really firm, I've swapped it out for a softer insole from some 1080's and they work much better for me.
And I think I'll definitely keep them for much longer ultras where pace isn't important as I found them hard work at any kind of strong pace. They felt much more comfy at very easy pace

Another great review Loyd! As previously mentioned, I've got the V2, which looks very similar. I agree it excels on the flat hard stuff, and I find it goes okay on the rockier trails, but as you say, you need to take care. As for the upper fit, this is the first pair of shoes I've used a runner's knot on, and that does seem to lock it down with zero slippage. Oh, and liked the inclusion of the baby ducks, also known as ducklings 😅

Great stuff. Wanna ask do you think these would be good for long walks and speed walks. I am a heavier guy and last year Ibwas doing alot of running and trails and was able to loose 90lbs. Unfortunately I had to have knee replacement surgery and recovering well. Cant do trails yet but I wanna get out and get more miles and up the pace. I was looking at more v 4 but these seem to be able to work as well on mulch paths , packed stone, and others on my trail. I was also considering the 1080v13. I would love your opinion.

Enjoyable video as usual Loyd. I am a wannabe runner with (allegedly) osteoarthritis in my feet. I no longer run but power walk 10k daily in Hoka Speedgoat 4's. The soles die in no time but that's to be expected on tarmac. However, the inner heelcup material wears away to holes in less than 6 months. Hoka just sent me a new pair under warranty. These NB's look/sound perfect for my feet, and need for cushioning. Unfortunately I doubt you will wear them enough to see how the inner material stands up... If anyone can throw light on this if they have worn some NB's of any type to destruction?

I had the More Trail V1 and the upper held up well, but the sole wore out very quickly. I’d say the sole was done by about 300 km, and I’ve carried on wearing them for stuff I don’t need the grip for and probably they’re at 500-600 km now. Looks like the sole issue is fixed on the newer versions as mine didn’t have the Vibram soles so very different. I also have the Hierro V7 and the 880 v12 (I think). Both probably have 200-300 km on them and look almost new (sole and upper), so I’d say the New Balance uppers and inners are good. I’ve also had a lot of hiking shoes with holes on the inner heels, but not had that on one of these. Not quite what you were asking but I saw no one else replied to you, so hope that’s helpful!

Are you up front tightly snug on the sides, with the heel, how far are the toes from the front, the sides... ?? and then from there along the ride and at the end... .... because its ok to follow along but all the way we dont know where that comes from... i just ordered a pair today. i should receive them by the end of the week... and still dont know after this video what to expect after 18 minutes after this video because no details on the initial fit.... hope that is helpful. My Hierro V5 were tight on the sides mid foot and creating stress in my feet after 20km which my Asics Trabuco 10 does not at all side wise ( per exemple ). Are those the same narrowness ? Were they too wide to begin with your run ? How do they compare with other brand or models ? Thanks to share more in depth review than just appreciation if possible.

Haven't seen any shoe reviewers mentioning this: The pull tab on More Trail v3 also serves the purpose of keeping laces in place. Once you tie the laces, the pull tab would be separated into 2 sections. You pull the lower section loose and tuck the laces under. Then you pull the upper section so the lower section of the pull tab tightens down and holds the laces securely. Nike Pegasus Trail 4 GTX also has this design.

That's literally one extreme to another! Running on the trails where I live bare foot wouldn't be the most sensible option 😳
You can definitely have to much cushioning in a trail running shoe! The more cushioning, the less connection and ground feel and this can make you feel very unstable when running on uneven trails! Running shoes are very personal, if you like lots of cushioning in your shoes that's great for you but it doesn't mean it's for every one 👍
