Lesson 4.2 : Functions, Methods, Routines

I would have liked to know the differences between functions, methods, and routines, and from what I can tell, the difference is rather insignificant in practice. Nevertheless, this is what I've figured the differences to be, and please correct or disagree with me:
-function: a program that is created to run as a part of another program, i.e. a piece of code that is called by name
-method: a function that belongs to a class in an object-oriented language and therefore must be associated with an object
"All methods are functions, but not all functions are methods" (Also, Java only uses methods, and C only uses functions.)
-routine: a sequence of instructions to perform some task, acting as a practical matter of programming a machine to do something useful
