I think the reason why people seem to say we’re playing more boring then last year, was because you compare it to last years explosive start. Last season we had 0 expectations other than to get into the CL, so we lid up the matches guns blazing, and we where so much on a roll that we ended up 8 points clear at a point. And I think Arteta has learned from the last 4 months of last season and that no matter how much you dominate a match or go 8 points clear, it will always be the 3 points that matter more, and He knows the team is that good and capable of being Champions. So he’s playing the matches this time around more controlled and with the intent of getting those 3 points and nothing less, so it doesn’t matter how much you win the game, if it ain’t 3 points, it won’t get you far enough to succeed. Hopefully it makes sense what I am writing❤️🤍
I agree with you that this season has more control. But, there are some players who are not executing well enough. Zinchenko is still defensively suspect. He can play well against weaker sides but strong sides that have physicality or pace can lead to him being run over. Hope that if he plays against Newcastle, he does not get run past by the opponents.
@@isakeng007 he was solid against city though. Imo he's been improved defensively compared to last season. He's not at Tomi's level, but neither Tomi is at Zinny's level in terms of ball progression and retention. That's why it's important we have them both plus Timber

I think one of the bigger issues is the inverted LB is no longer working. Like you mentioned in your last video, teams are just placing two forwards to sit in front of them. Our build up has been really poor. He needs to adapt and find a new way to build up. We need more presence centrally. Saka was superb when he roamed into LCM vs Sheffield. The fluidity/freedom was perfect that game and something we need to aim for more
I also wonder if that’s due to the absence of Xhaka. Ironically, no one in the current squad can replicate what Xhaka brought to the team, in terms of how to play the left 8 role
@@makas01217 I believe that’s another factor as well. Xhaka’s IQ was extremely underrated. Knew when to speed it up, when to slow it down, when to make the right runs or create space for others. A lot of our guys are young and still learning most of this. If you look at what Xabi Alonso is doing with Leverkusen, he focuses on central presence more while our main target is to get the ball out wide to Martinelli/Saka. Leverkusen has the most passes in the Bundesliga and creates chances for fun. Biggest problems is teams want us to go wide to Saka/Martinelli now so they can just overload that side and win the ball or force us backwards. If we get those two centrally more and have the outside backs hold the width I believe we’ll see a big difference in ability to not only build up, but create more goal scoring chances

Honestly, I love creativity and magic. But it's not always reliable. Arteta has taken a scientific approach to tactics, and we can see the results, and to be honest, we're a much better team than we were under Emery.

Arteta has always spoken about taking risks and being brave, that is what we saw last season. I expect the same soon.
I think the reason our football looks one paced and flat this season, is cuz the midfield isn't fully functional, and that Matters isn't comfy with introducing more chaos,if the fundamentals rn't full set in place. The main thing to look at, is to compare what Xhaka and Partey provides and lacks, with who we replaced them with, and how the replacements are better or worse in different aspects. A bit too long to go into the details here, buy in short, neither Rice nor Havertz have fully clicked and replaced and out perform what Xhaka and Partey provides. It will probably take a bit longer, perhaps a full season or more even, for Arteta to get to the new and improved Arsenal, that should be better than last season's version in every aspect. But before that, we wait. Trust the process.
Interesting way of thinking about it. About some of the play possibly being worried of losing their spot if they don't totally stick to the plan always.
Alex will never escape the accusation of being an artetasexual, and even if he is occasionally critical, it doesn't hide how much he loves his manager. I agree with the argument that players don't seem to be taking enough risks, it's always about balance and I'm not sure we'll find that quickly.
I feel it’s one of two reasons 1) players are in the PROCESS of integrating the new playing style which is different from the fluid attack from last season. And in Arteta’s own words he wants to concede less goal’s and thus the tweaks.2) There is a PROCESS of execution in and within the opponents faced on how and when to deploy and execute certain specific instructions sets. For you see, first you integrate in mentally then through training and game play it is assimilated and expressed fluidly over time. This is perceive is the “bottleneck” in our perceived slow a tad bit unattractive game play expression. Then again… we are conceding less and winning games or at least losing less games. I feel that with the return of Timber ( which I feel is Arteta’s master stroke tactically speaking… we would see more fluidity being expressed in team play. Not saying it won’t happen before his return … but meaning it would become more consistent. It’s a process … the more we understand it as such the better our expectations would be.
That, about Arteta's possible reasoning behind his choice of goalkeeper felt like the the truth. And he is always saying it "we cant control this or that for the press
Its also probable that Arteta brought Raya to make Ramsdale aim higher and process better, you could see it in West Ham game that Ramsdale was trying to make better short passes.
Tottenham under Postecoglu is the same adherence to process that you describe for Arteta: "That's just how we play, mate." Both are willing to accept errors because they believe that improvement and excellence will come. But without the persistent attempt, their way of football will never come to be. So, if Ramsdale does not want to try, then he cannot be a full Arteta player. This always seemed apparent. Yes, he made fantastic saves -- is likeable and a solid goalkeeper), but he was too often just waving everyone up-field so he could boot it long. It was the absence of courage. I have been surprised no one seems to have noticed. Similarly, Gabriele Magalhais is a solid, likeable centerback, but he is not an Arteta player. He is not calm on the ball, panics, does not have two feet, and boots the ball whenever defending around the box even when he has space to play the ball. Like Ramsdale, I am shocked that Magalhais doesn't realize he is on borrowed time. I was not surprised when he was benched at the beginning of the season, and he will be again when Timber is fit. Whether Arteta's expectations have made the team less creative, I do not think so. I think that there has always been a courage problem at Arsenal that is better now than it has been in recent years but still exists. They will still retreat behind the ball and have a deer-in-the-headlights feel to them. I have admired the Spurs over the years because (except for a couple of rocky seasons) they generally have not had that problem. That's why you are more confident in Spurs playing Man City and Liverpool than Arsenal. You always get the feeling that they can win. Post is going to create a dynasty at Spurs. You should do an analysis of the two coaches, and Magalhais of course.
Wenger allowed and expected his players in the last phase of the attack, in oppositions box area, to be expressive and tap into their own intuitive and practiced solutions to score.
Arteta's biggest weakness is looking to the future like protecting players from injuries by more rotation or substitutions, but that is slightly better this year but still lacking compared to some other managers. Maybe this is the weakness of the here and now, but in a league you need to use your entire team and not just your normal players day in and day out until players get injured like Wenger. Looking at Fergusen he would substitute his best players early when leading and thus protecting his players, and new players would be introduced as subs so they can get used to the speed of the premier league and not play them each game, why maybe Timber's injury was unnecessary. However for Cup games unlike league games plaing your best team each game makes more sense, unless you want to train up lesser used players.
For those who are unfamiliar with Astrology…. Do some research…. Arteta’s birthday 26th March( which is mine as well) falls under the zodiac sign of Aries. Aries is symbolized by the Ram. When you understand the qualities the Ram has … you will understand Arteta. Aries are innovative ( Leonardo Da Vinci is a good example) very focused ( it’s our innate attribute) and being In the NOW MOMENT our default setting. This allows us see things with such precision and clarity that it makes it easier for us to deploy our core attribute of Fire ( energy … which we have in abundance ) to drive that process relentlessly l. We get impatient but embracing chaos opens up understandings that grant us balance over the long term. Of course we have all see the All or nothing Documentary and seen the passion of Mikel when the players lose games… and like he said he hates losing. We strive for perfection and will do anything to achieve it. Which brings me to our famous attribute … we are FEARLESS and thus the dropping of the popular Ramsdale only typifies this to achieve the greater Goal. There is so much to come from Mikel. Be patient with him.. and in Josh’s famous words “BE EXCITED”
you say that we never really 'try anything new', but what he's telling them to do works. realistically if every player does what Arteta wants every time, well win. moments of class, like eddies 3rd goal, look INCREDIBlE but in the end it just ends up with a goal. on the other hand, if we slowly stoically score a tap in after boring build up, the outcome is the same. we still score a goal
I mean I get your point but if you never let the players take risks or express themselves you can make them too predictable. In a CL final where it’s 0-0 at the 70th minute you need someone to take a risk and spark a moment.
good video - the fans need to get behind the keeper, whoever is playing, blokes who know better than us are making these informed decisions, so rahter than wait for a "told you so" get behind the guy.......whichever guy it is - right?
When Odegaard burst into space yesterday to score v West Ham that turn of speed looked almost out of place when compared with many games so far this season… hopefully this team is learning how to solve problems on the field.
I see why most fans are clamoring for his dismissal but I also appreciate the trust the process. Our team has grown with the manager th3y are young, but they feel stable in the current circumstances, change the manager you want a clear winner guess what, he is under pressure the players are under pressure and the performances will in the short run be ok and alas we become inconsistent as players are worried. Clearly we want results panic but last season in the business end we had one style no bench, Right now we trying to create new styles to have plans Incase of issues(mind you we lost only two games, a lc game and an away champs league group game) we need to calm down
Alex for TV pundit job! get the old cronnies out. Great video mate!!! re "fear", no I don't think it's that. I think they have all discussed to try and save energy with calm control over the 50+ game season so they're "AT IT" in March. They just get it wrong as a young team sometimes when they need to speed up, add passion back (which they were told they were too emotional), and when to spend every ounce "in the moment". My opinion
Mikel is the best gift arsenal has gotten. Ramsdale should get working and learn. He's very young and has a huge potential to be the best in the g.k in the world. When no one believed in ramsdale arteta took the risk and signed him.
Excellent analysis. Permit me to say ever since Arsené I have often felt that our teams have been overcoached. On the few occasions I saw glimpses of individualism/creativity, it has worked quite well for us. For instance, that Jorginho long ranger that crashed against the bar and then went in off the goalkeeper was a gem of an individualism and creativity. I hope I am not overstating my point, and in fact our game should be credited to "the process. One other point: I think the commentators hint constantly at an unholy alliance between our coach and Pep, by referring to his short stint as Pep's assistant. If my shortening football memory serves me right, Arteta was assistant to Arsené. So what's the deal?
I think you should analyse how frustrated on touchline he was when the boys let it free rolling with risky and brave passes, say in Sheffield game. Imo Mikel is more dictatorial than Pep even. Also tells you something about these managers who they pick as their captains, its always the obedient ones. So it makes sense Mikel picked his “son” in Odegaard to lead. Its almost like Mikel controls the pitch inside the pitch with Odegaard. This is completely different to say Ancelotti or even other positional play coaches like Ange. I dont know whats good and whats not, its matter of choice I guess . In tennis terms, Mikel understood if you want to win a lot of grandslams, you should suffer and be calculative like Djkovic, rather than say a Federer, who is fun to watch. Federer is like Barca of 2011, its fun until a anti thesis emerges. When there is anti meta for your meta, then you need to be able to adapt.
Did you read the book mate? I’m reading it now it’s a great one. You literally mentioned the name and I feel like it was deliberate. All of a sudden I can see why you are good at this as well 😂
Two facts from this week.. Arsenal tried to buy Raya before Ramsdale but couldn't get him... and Ramsdale has said in that interview that he gets bored during matches so looks for ways to entertain himself... so Arteta already knows he lacks concentration, which was obvious in the last 10 games last season when he made so many errors.
I personally think the keeper situation is the least of our problems. I question Arteta's choices in midfield. I think Havertz should play higher up in the false 9 role and Zinny should be slotted into midfield. I think his experimented a bit to much in that area and should play a simple kind of ball in those spaces with people who can progress the ball and at the very least track back with a player to put them under a little pressure before Gabriel or Saliba can support.
@@alexgitari6452 you could just tell timber was gonna be an elite defender in the games he playe; if we get an elite striker, proper xhaka replacement and timber comes back from injury, this arsenal team will be unstoppable
In terms of Raya or Ramsdale. You say (and I agree) that Raya doesn't change his process, however, I feel as though his mentality is shaken by his mistakes (whether they are punished or not, he does keep making mistakes) and it's visable and shakes our defence. Ramsdale may make a mistake but his mentality is so strong that he doesn't seem at all fussed. I guess this is the reality of his pre-Arsenal experience. I can't help but fear thwt although Raya may be a better keeper, his mentality / resilience may let him down. Anyway, great video as always!
Maybe he should've had that conversation with Ramsdale before spending 30 million on him. Long-term you hope it'll yield results. To much control kills flow "Do not struggle. Go with the flow of things, and you will find yourself at one with the mysterious unity of the universe." - Zhuangzi
It’s something I have thought about and personally I’m not sure if it’s Arteta being to authoritarian or players taking him to literally through fear of being dropped. Maybe a bit of both? One thing I am sure of is that nothing gets past him, he see’s everything, but whatever it is, it is having an effect. Keep up the good work.
I agree with you and he has my full backing a supporter but it’s a shame he doesn’t see nketiah jorginho nelson elneny are horrible players and partey smith rowe are injury prone players we need to bin these players if we are to fight for every competitions every year without throwing away trophies
@@peluolababatunde330 nketiah is more than horrible mate the guys not technical nor can he hold the ball up he has no touch he never is available to receive the ball he’s not clinical on top of that he is way too slow and weak to play a striker for a big club like arsenal check out Santiago Gimenez that’s the striker we need at arsenal non of this nketiah please he is disrespecting the arsenal shirt not good enough never has been never will be FFS it’s arsenal we are talking about not Luton
Brilliant video and interesting take. I kinda agree with what you've said and it feels like every pass has to be near 100%, this is why I think we have less entries to the center of the field as opposition flood it with players so we don't want to attempt a line breaking pass in case we lose it and it gets turned over.
Ignore the critics and nagging. Like I said last season (maybe every season), our focus should be consistent CL spots every season. Look at the PL teams now and you cant say top 4 is easy. Winning the league is a MASSIVE bonus but do not stress that out, if we cant win it, oh well. CL spots is more important for Arsenal's structure, financial and future. We dont have oil money or big commercial brand (United).
@@tomfrost2600 All fans want their club to win it. My point being dont let it be the do or die case. Dont bother with clickbaits journalist and content creators. They do it for the money. We do it for Arsenal.
Arteta needs to be less rigid with his Inverting full backs. It needs to be modified to unleash Trossard. Sometimes when you want him closer to the goal mouth play an overlapping left back to allow Leo to operate closer to 18 yard box....why I miss Tienney.
Raya is a top top keeper. There’s a reason he’s in the top 5 in xG prevented, and averaging a 0.7 goal conceded per 90. Yes he’s made the odd distribution mistake, but it’s football. These type of mistakes happen.
Processes can be boring, but they're replicable. It also means that Arsenal will probably follow a fixed process to winning games this year albeit being boring in the entertainment factor
I wouldn't be surprised if Arteta doesn't like the attention Ramsdale gets from opposition fans and the way he gives it back. It often results in geeing them up and can have a negative effect, particularly in away games.
To you last point about playing it to safe, I think there is something in that and its epitomized by Havertz. Often you see him in decent area and think "have a go!" But then he passes. I think thats clear instruction from Arteta. Maybe its a numbers thing, centered ball to striker, higher XG...Arteta would look at stuff like that. Same thing goes for Raya, its in the stats...all that said im not sure if its working all to well at the moment but if it clicks, it could be amazing...time will tell. But that much rigidity would certainly sap flair and gumption, which was lacking vs West Ham.
This guy will make a video about Arteta’s shoelace and how it’s tactically relevant to Arsenal and then he will send you to patron to know about the shoe. 😂😂
He is to stock in his way let's look at the Westham match he wanted gorginho to control the middle of the park as if he is Partey or Rice forgetting the fact that gorgi isn't Thomas or declan he asks Zinchencko to invert without having a backup plan to what if the ball is lobed over his head than planing to catch up while there is no turbo in zeni for me it's mad because I can't expect you to be me because you are not me full stop ....Arteta needs to understand that and all should be fine as I believe he is pretty good but he needs to iron out few things to be excellently Briliant .Arteta is Spanish the best Spanish team was with delabusque where every one was a midfielder I have the very same philosophy if the ball by passes the midfield it's a goal so never let that ball get over the castling wall
1. Raya is too small (only 183cm) 2. Arteta is too focused on his system with inverted LB 3. The players need simpler tasks and more individual freedom in their game 4. Arteta should set up his squad the perfect way to counter the opponent 5. If Arteta doesn’t change then I want us to go for Zidane

Alex will never escape the accusation of being an artetasexual, and even if he is occasionally critical, it doesn't hide how much he loves his manager. I agree with the argument that players don't seem to be taking enough risks, it's always about balance and I'm not sure we'll find that quickly.
He just spit facts
Super Mik’ never stops raising his fogging estandards and of those around him.
BTW Arteta did coach Eddie for that hatrick. There is a video of that exact move. Lovely video
I feel it’s one of two reasons
1) players are in the PROCESS of integrating the new playing style which is different from the fluid attack from last season.
West Ham really targeted him in the press and I don't think he passed that with flying colours
Mate, stick to FIFA.
Hoping for better always from Arteta. Thanks for the analysis bro
you say that we never really 'try anything new', but what he's telling them to do works. realistically if every player does what Arteta wants every time, well win. moments of class, like eddies 3rd goal, look INCREDIBlE but in the end it just ends up with a goal. on the other hand, if we slowly stoically score a tap in after boring build up, the outcome is the same. we still score a goal
I mean I get your point but if you never let the players take risks or express themselves you can make them too predictable. In a CL final where it’s 0-0 at the 70th minute you need someone to take a risk and spark a moment.
That look on arteta’s face at 2:27 😂priceless
I think Arteta is focused on the team's outcomes - the way to get there is the process.
Solid thought PROCESS 😅
Arteta needs to get the team to win something soon... just that FA cup suddenly has gone missing from our minds. He needs a trophy asap
good video - the fans need to get behind the keeper, whoever is playing, blokes who know better than us are making these informed decisions, so rahter than wait for a "told you so" get behind the guy.......whichever guy it is - right?
Hi TDK, you mentioned Atomic Habits- have you read the book? Great content as always.
Yes I have! Thanks man
And quoting Stoicism 🔥🔥🔥🔥💪‼
The season is long. We are pacing ourselves. We will click towards the end. I wouldn't change a thing
Not even throwing away a cup with a bad lineup and way too late of adjustments to right the game? We should never love to West Ham.
Clearly we want results panic but last season in the business end we had one style no bench, Right now we trying to create new styles to have plans Incase of issues(mind you we lost only two games, a lc game and an away champs league group game) we need to calm down
I’m so confused 😕
Was not expecting Voldemort to sneak in 😂
Alex for TV pundit job! get the old cronnies out.
If you're coaching a focus on doing the same things all the time your opponents can start to predict you.
Did you read the book mate?
I’m reading it now it’s a great one. You literally mentioned the name and I feel like it was deliberate. All of a sudden I can see why you are good at this as well 😂
TDK getting close to being red pilled. We will be there.
top video again
What about Harvertz
I'd like to have been a fly on the wall of the dressing room after last night's loss to West Ham ....
I'll be honest mate, your content is normally absolutely top stuff! This one was a bit much imo, I'm sure you'll smash it in the next one!
This man has a crush on Arteta at this point😂
I personally think the keeper situation is the least of our problems. I question Arteta's choices in midfield. I think Havertz should play higher up in the false 9 role and Zinny should be slotted into midfield. I think his experimented a bit to much in that area and should play a simple kind of ball in those spaces with people who can progress the ball and at the very least track back with a player to put them under a little pressure before Gabriel or Saliba can support.
I think that was his plan until, Timber got injured.
Process!
Maybe he should've had that conversation with Ramsdale before spending 30 million on him. Long-term you hope it'll yield results. To much control kills flow
"Do not struggle. Go with the flow of things, and you will find yourself at one with the mysterious unity of the universe." - Zhuangzi
When they reset the play, the pass back to the GK, that’s where we lose it. The lack of risky forward passes.
@@Stunt101Bitch how is nketiah an horrible player for goodness sake.
@@peluolababatunde330when someone says a player is “horrible” you can safely ignore them
@@Stunt101Bitch
Exactly the part of him I don't like, including buying Havertz for that price too
@@peluolababatunde330 nketiah is more than horrible mate the guys not technical nor can he hold the ball up he has no touch he never is available to receive the ball he’s not clinical on top of that he is way too slow and weak to play a striker for a big club like arsenal check out Santiago Gimenez that’s the striker we need at arsenal non of this nketiah please he is disrespecting the arsenal shirt not good enough never has been never will be FFS it’s arsenal we are talking about not Luton
I kind of feel like we as arsena fans know that we get beat by westham a lot i knew we were gonna lose so no biggie. We got this season on lock
Yeah, but we still want to win it. What’s the point of being in a competition if you aren’t fussed about winning it.
@@tomfrost2600 All fans want their club to win it. My point being dont let it be the do or die case. Dont bother with clickbaits journalist and content creators. They do it for the money. We do it for Arsenal.
stoic, epictitus, atomic habits.. you watch youtube too much.. but it's refreshing though.. great video as always
Arteta needs to be less rigid with his Inverting full backs. It needs to be modified to unleash Trossard. Sometimes when you want him closer to the goal mouth play an overlapping left back to allow Leo to operate closer to 18 yard box....why I miss Tienney.
Lord Mikel
Raya is a top top keeper. There’s a reason he’s in the top 5 in xG prevented, and averaging a 0.7 goal conceded per 90. Yes he’s made the odd distribution mistake, but it’s football. These type of mistakes happen.
Soooo you got your answer now.
Processes can be boring, but they're replicable. It also means that Arsenal will probably follow a fixed process to winning games this year albeit being boring in the entertainment factor
Arteta is in a battle with himself, scared to accept his mistakes and want to prove himself wrong
I wouldn't be surprised if Arteta doesn't like the attention Ramsdale gets from opposition fans and the way he gives it back. It often results in geeing them up and can have a negative effect, particularly in away games.
So why does raya concede alot while he doesn't interract with away fans
Epictetus is Mikels biggest fan
To you last point about playing it to safe, I think there is something in that and its epitomized by Havertz. Often you see him in decent area and think "have a go!" But then he passes. I think thats clear instruction from Arteta. Maybe its a numbers thing, centered ball to striker, higher XG...Arteta would look at stuff like that. Same thing goes for Raya, its in the stats...all that said im not sure if its working all to well at the moment but if it clicks, it could be amazing...time will tell. But that much rigidity would certainly sap flair and gumption, which was lacking vs West Ham.
All Hail the Almighty Algorithm 🔥☯️
Never has a man's face and voice riled me as much as Arteta. Can't stand him.
The timing of this video is bad....we just got knocked out by West Ham
1. Raya is too small (only 183cm)
2. Arteta is too focused on his system with inverted LB
3. The players need simpler tasks and more individual freedom in their game
4. Arteta should set up his squad the perfect way to counter the opponent
5. If Arteta doesn’t change then I want us to go for Zidane
😂😂😂😂😂 this ain’t fifa
"Dicteta" 💀💀
Epicteta! 😅
Arteta is messing up. He threw another cup away with a terrible lineup, followed by way too late adjustments. It’s unacceptable.
He knows his shit lmao
Football is scripted anyway
We haven't won FA yet. Made too many changes against West ham and we found going behind to difficult to overcome.
that was a good 11, internationally capped players with premier experience. They just didn't show up at the London Stadium

You are unnecessarily intelligent 😂😂
