dolph ziggler not even earning a mention on this list is wild. arguably had one of the most memorable cash ins of all time and had his run derailed due to injury

Compared to other reigns on the list, Kofi's reign is okay with shit ending. But the reign itself is serviceable.

In defense of Daniel Bryan we never got to see how his title reign that began at WrestleMania due to injuries out of his control.

Jinder, Drew McIntyre, Kofi, Dolph ect should be on here. I'd say that Kevin Nash's time as world champ was way better than Drew's time as WWE champion, he defended the title against the big show which was the real main event of mania 36, then against Dolph a handful of times and then lost it to Randy, won it back and then dropped it to the miz of all people
I'd argue that the reason some of these were poor reigns, is that they should have never happened. The extremely small Rey Mysterio, at what, 175 pounds tops? Should NEVER have been the World Heavyweight Champion. How can a non Heavyweight be a Heavyweight Champion? It defied all rationale. Weight classes used to mean something, after that, they never did again. I'd argue Rey was never main event material, but if they REALLY had to push him to that level, they should have done so with the WWE Title. At least then, they wouldn't have the awkward weight class crap.
Cm punk was a haze part of triple h guy and he proved his worth wire aew.

Honorable mention to Christian Cage and his first run.
Wins his first world title to honor Edge. Loses it two days later. It was so poorly received, it actually tanked the ratings of that week's SD taping.

Tbf though, that storyline with Orton was good and very fun
It's still baffling how Jinder Mahal's ONE ONE single WWE Championship reign was longer than some of these on the list. Heck Jinder's WWE Title reign was longer than all of Edge's combined 😢

Dolph Ziggler should be on the list instead of Rey Mysterio. Rey's run literally felt like "this is what we would have done with Eddie if he hadn't died." Ziggler's cash-in remains one of the loudest moments in modern wrestling. Actually, Kofi Kingston and Chris Benoit could have arguments made on their behalf versus some of the names on this list.
I think the Eddie part is blatantly wrong but I still get the point you’re trying to get across. That’s how bad Rey’s run was.
Benoit at least had main events against HBK and HHH following his win

This. He was over as heel champ because hed just beat Bret in their submission match. He didnt have to work every week or even every PPV but they could have done SOMETHING other than just jobbing him out.
Kofi winning the WWE title in 2019 was a perfect example. Sure, when he won it, it was incredible but he never main evented a PPV while defending it.

Before watching, I’m gonna have to say Kofi Kingston needs to be number 1. I’ve never been so disappointed with a world championship run before🤦🏽♂️

Im sorry, in no way is Diesel jobbing out Backlund in 8 seconds on a house show an incredible title change. Backlund, who was already over as a heel, had been getting the crossface chickenwing over as a deadly manuver, had just come off his incredible submission match victory over Bret that had incredible storytelling between him and Owen. Backlund was over as a heel champ, and there is no telling what he might have been able to do.
Yep, the only way it was incredible was in terms of shock value. Plus Diesel had only turned face a few days before, so they traded a champion we'd been conditioned to think of as legitimately dangerous for what was essentially a brand new character. People only dunk on Backlund winning the title in hindsight because they did nothing with it. THAT win should be on this list.
A face champion cant survive without being funny. If you're not entertainingly ripping heels out of it, its just boring. A traditional face champion hasn't worked since the 80s
Ouch....Diesel. Nash had the worst lineup of talent to go against. The rest were dumb occupational gimmicks.
Seth Rollins Universal Championship reign after beating Brock at Mania
I hate to point this one out but Mankind's 3rd WWE Championship win. That wasn't even a proper reign. 1 day.
I get It was to crown Triple H, but they could have handled that better without Mick's involvement
Was thinking this, that reign was much worse. While his first (and 2nd…. and 3rd 🙄) reign was technically short, that fued with Rock was the hottest thing they could have possibly done at the time. I found it very entertaining and fun. Switching the title around quickly in this situation was much better than Roman holding the title for years, having the same match once every month and a half or so, and WWE not doing anything to counteract a cheating champ for such a long, damn, time 😂
That’s the one complaint I have about the new WWE regime. There’s a reason cheating heel champs only reign for a year or so at best. It’s because the company looks incompetent if they let it go on too long without stepping in to level the playing field. Granted this did all start with Vince in charge, so I really hope they don’t do anything that stupid again, for such a long period of time.
Agreed. Mankind’s first two runs were also short, but they were very entertaining even if he didn’t defend them much or hold them for long.
Christian’s WHC win at Extreme Rules 2011 - dropping after 2 days was just madness. Especially after it felt like such a special moment with Edge cheering him on

Rey’s run was simply a token run for Eddie’s memory, they never viewed him as a world champion.
RVD had no one to blame but himself for his run being cut short, the rumoured plans for him were him going over Edge and Cena but RVD screwed himself and it worked out better as Cena/Edge resumed.

Rey is the posterchild for this sort of list. Between this and that weird one hour WWE title reign, one has to wonder why they'd even give him world titles at all.

I was thinking of just this thing recently. Is the chase really better than the catch? Or in this case the reign? I always felt that so many times they book it to the win and that’s it. Never thinking of the reign as a champion. I don’t know. Always bugs me when this happens consistently. Especially when it’s a 180 character change that’s not needed. Just my rant for the day while I’m watching this.

How did Undertaker first reign when he won the title at survivor series and lost it back to Hulk Hogan not make the list or Kane when he beat Stone Cold in a fist blood and lost it the next night on raw not make the list?

I don’t think Foley should be there at all. MAYBE if you count the one day reign (which arguably shouldn’t have happened in the first place), but Mick’s not the guy I really see on top as a long term champion anyway, and especially given the direction of the company at the time, his reign was exactly what it should’ve been. Plus the feud with Rock was one of the more entertaining things on TV at the time, so it was hardly a disappointing run.
Micks win at Summerslam wasn't really incredibly though, which is the point.
