  • Sprouted Horse Gram Palya Recipe
    Ingredients:
    - 1 cup sprouted horse gram (hurali kaalu)
    - 2 medium-sized onions, finely chopped
    - 3 dry red chilies, chopped
    - 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
    - 1 sprig of curry leaves
    - Salt to taste
    - 2 tablespoons grated coconut
    - 2-3 tablespoons oil
    - 6-7 cloves of garlic, minced
    - Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
    Instructions:
    1. *Sprouting the Horse Gram:*
    - Soak the horse gram in water overnight.
    - Drain the water and tie the horse gram in a muslin cloth. Keep it in a warm place for a day to allow it to sprout.
    2. *Cooking the Horse Gram:*
    - Boil the sprouted horse gram with a little salt in a pressure cooker. Add enough water to cover the gram and cook for 3 whistles. Once done, allow the pressure to release naturally. Drain and set aside.
    3. *Preparing the Palya:*
    - Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
    - Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
    - Add curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds.
    - Add minced garlic and dry red chilies, and sauté until the garlic turns golden brown.
    - Add chopped onions and salt, and sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
    - Add grated coconut and mix well.
    - Add the cooked sprouted horse gram and mix everything well.
    - Adjust salt to taste and cook for a few more minutes until the flavors blend together.
    - Add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
    Serve the sprouted horse gram palya hot with rice or chapati.
