Other advice. Go to a statue of the Seven and click on the statue's blessing option and set the statue healing to 100%.
It's being at 50% is a hold over from early genshin (1.0) where the statue mana replenish rate was low enough that you could actually run it out and take potentially 20-30 minutes to refill it, now it refills fully in like 5 minutes and has so much Mana you deliberately have to try to run it out (even repeatedly suiciding Nilou/Neuv/Zhongli/Hu Tao to rapidly deplete it still took awhile to empty it's mana pool completely).
Outside of Hu Tao (who gets a huge buff for being under 50% HP), there's no reason to not have the statue at 100% healing.
Another change was that now any combination of 20 levels across all statues will max out your stamina meter. Previously only the Monstadt and Liyue statues counted and you had to completely max them out.
Good luck on your Genshin journey ^_^ It really is nostalgic seeing the start once again...
Here's some tips for you: If you press M2 and dodge, You are invulnerable to most if not all damage, you can do it twice in a row, it can also be used to transport to places faster than normal running but it consumes stamina
If you press M1 (basic attack) mid air you can plunge down onto enemies, dealing extra damage.
You can go to any statue of the seven to replenish your health after a battle if needed.
The floating island is called "Celestia." I won't spoil too much. It's not like the community knows much about it either way. (Unfinished part of the story)
There are 7 nations, Mondstadt, the nation of anemo/wind, Liyue, The nation of geo/rock Inazuma, The nation of electro/lightning, Sumeru, The nation of lifeweave/dendro, Fontaine, The nation of hydro/water, Natlan, The nation of fire/pyro, And snezhnaya, The nation of ice/cryo.
If you have any other question, feel free to ask. Also don't feel pressured into buying meta characters or speedrunning the story, Take your sweet time. I personally beat genshin's main (unfinished story) after 350 hours of gameplay. Yes, 350 hours of gameplay and the story still isn't finished. There are also story quests, side quests, world quests, hang out events, etc. The game is long AF.
He plays on controller so the controls are a bit different but he should be able to figure out the dodge and basic attack buttons (I don't know the controller controls 😅)
I really like the gameplay of this game. its funny to travel around the world and do random stuff. hope you keep it!

Also, pick everything that you can, never leave anything behind. Enemies drops, plants, minerals, everything. It's really sad when you get a new weapon or character or food recipe and you don't have the materials and have to actively farm them. Having the materials already in the backpack makes your future life easier.

Take your time and have fun! Lots of people lose interest pretty quickly because they moved really fast or they actually rushed through. exploring is personally my favorite part of the game because I get to listen to the GORGEOUS music.

Small but important things to know:
- Archon quests are the main protein.
- World quests are the buns.
- Characters quests and hangouts are the fruits and veggies.
- Events quests and mini games are the sauces.
- Domains and weekly bosses are the oven.
- Abyss and Theater are the end result of cooking all ingredient.

Genshin Impact added a Character Guide in the menu screen where settings, time, profile, etc is in
It would recommend the best artifacts for your character, which skill needs to be leveled the most, and which weapon is best for em to use
Note kt only shows weapons you have and can craft, so it always shows what you have weapon wise
This info will dramatically affect the pace of the early game and make your experience as smooth as possible.
I am not sure when it unlocks but when Blossoms of Revelation (Ley Lines) appear on your map, you may use Original Resin to level your characters. They will look like big blue or gold circles with clouds inside them. Select a marker on the map and click on Navigate to get a quest marker to follow.
Original Resin is an item that appears as a crescent moon resource when you view your World Map in the top-right corner which recharges by 1 every 8 minutes.
The cap is 200, so if it's capping you are technically losing progress because every 20 Original Resin is worth 100+ Adventure EXP which will level your account.
Why is leveling your account important? Well the early quests are locked behind your account level and your characters have a limit to how far they can progress in power.
If you keep playing this game it only gets more insane as you travel the world.
Once you fight a water hydra thats when the game gets wild.
Also the music is good because this dev team is absolutely MASSSSSSSIIIIVEEEE
Also yes the map is bigger than Elden Rings

After opening the shortcut wheel with LB, you have to press R to select and open, right? There is a 'R' at the center of the shortcut wheel.

Every character has a skill and an ultimate other than normal attacks, make use of those to win the battle.
I think you should open the prompts appearing on the screen because they tell you about the new mechanics when you encounter them new.

I'm always buying supplies from vendors and buying recipes. Food can be useful. Then again 4 years later I have 9k plus of potatoes, cabbages, wheat etc...

for me fontaine has one of the best if not the best archon in all of genshin impact
this is based from things i saw on yt and i didn't actually play the archon quest but from what i seen is beatiful
This is a resource management game, the first few levels you may think, I am so rich, the game lies to you, you will come to a point where you need one or more resources and have to farm to progress on the level part. Don't rush the world levels, let your team catch up, I personally would suggest you have enough for 2-4 characters to level up once you increase the world level, the world can become a really harsh place to farm for resources to level, characters, weapons and artefacts, if you push world levels to fast.
The map is huge is an understatement 😂

4:02 The bigger the map is, the better it is especially if you plan to be F2P or exploration/ lore hunters enjoyers. Old players whose literally 100% all region for scrap of primogems are always looking forward for new map 😢

personaly i prefer mouse and keyboard btw. controls are MUCH smoother. idk if you'r eplaying on playstation or pc but if you're playing on pc i recommend using mouse and keyboard.

i played genshin on mouse and keyboard for 2 years then when it game to gamepass on xbox i changed and uninstalled on my pc. tbh it feels so much smoother on controller for me
i midd the good days when painmon's voice was sweet and cute instead of so high pitched. it slowly got higher and higher pitched over the ears, the VA is very very talented to manage to make paimon's emotions shine through in such a high pitch. her screams almost deafen me sometimes...i miss this paimon :( i wonder why the directing keeps getting her to get more and more whine-like

my personal advice ... let curiosity be your guide. Be relaxed and casual about getting a grasp on the game. Those of us cued up on the details will flood you with advice. But that can give the sense the knowledge is crucial. But it's unnecessary really. You don't need to be overpowered. You don't need to be overprepared. .. and you can drift into the knowledge as you need it. So .. building an overpowered skilled character is because that's what you like to do, rather than because that's what you need to do.
during the story there is alot of lore behind this. lore is good but complicated could watch videos on it in spare time or react to it. but watch lore videos based on how far u are in the story

I loved the gameplay, but I'll give you a tip, playing with a controller is much more complicated. But if you liked it, just ignore my comment hahaha
I got to say i missed the og paimon voice
this eiter will end tomorrow or it will reach 1000 episodes
just as a word of advice, lock at least 2 copies of every 3* weapon you find. they don't auto-lock like 4-5* do. (and avoid using auto-add for 3* and above materials (keep it at 2* and manually add your 3* XP materials so you don't accidentally delete weapons you'd want). Later on you can start using that, once you've got a full stable of 3* weapons locked and are using mostly 4-5* anyway.
While they're very niche, they're very easy to refine to R5 and this can make them comparable to 4* R1's in power, with a handful of specific ones even being competitive at end-game (Harbinger of Dawn and Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slaying, especially. Though Magic Guide, White Tassel, Black Tassel, are also solid options though not quite as OP as those two).
Some 3*s come from gacha and are infinite but some some only come from regional chests and are finite (the White Tassel and Dark Iron Sword being the main poster childs for weapons you absolutely want to lock and fully refine at least 2 copies of (though there's only currently 2 copies of the Dark Iron sword in the whole game)). White Tassel is a very strong polearm for a 3* that gives a ridiculous amount of normal attack damage at R5 (and is one of the few crit-polearms that isn't a signature weapon or requires Starglitter/Battlepass).
mond can feel overly pg and draggy but it gets so much better if you power through, hope you stick with the game
