Ke$ha was big when I was in middle school and her party girl brand got me really hyped for parties I would never get invited to in high school LMAO! I'm so glad she's doing better now as a person.
Cyndi Lauper's Brooklyn accent never fails to bring a smile to my face.
God bless Cyndi. She’s a legend!
Throwback to the days when my elementary school self used to jam out to songs like TikTok, We R Who We R, and Your Love is My Drug when they came on the radio. I smile back at those days every time I hear or play one of those songs.
Same
Her newer song “praying” is actually really damn good. Glad to see she had a deeper side to her too 🥰
In 2010 I was in a "band" playing metal covers of Kesha and Gaga. What a time
Every time I think of Ke$ha I think of that victorious episode where they ate all that ice cream to get the private concert. That’s my favorite episode of all time!
So glad you covered this album/era. One of my all time favorites and biggest influences, honestly.
I don’t know what 14-15 year old me got out pretending to be jaded with pop music. I used to think Kesha’s music and personality were both so trashy and therefore lesser. But every time I come back to her music when I’m older I just “get it” more and more. It’s so unapologetically fun. Especially “Your love is my Drug” and “Die Young” those tracks have aged beautifully.
I was so anti “mainstream” as a teenagers too 🙄 so fucking edgy
Y’all remember when Kesha was on an episode of Victorious?? Peak 2010s childhood moment right there
Was never the biggest Kesha fan (although I did see her perform at Bamboozle in 2010) but I think a big part of her appeal as a personality was feeling like a normal person. It was hard to aspire to be Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Katy Perry, or Taylor Swift but Kesha reminded me of people I knew in high school in the suburbs and I think that made her appealing to young people who wanted to be brash and confident but who often felt inhibited either due to their own neuroses or social pressures.
Kesha is fucking iconic I love her omg
Never listened to kesha but here I am watching a 30 min video about her lol. Id watch just about anything cozy puts out
Heck yes! Ke$ha came around at the absolute perfect time in my life; I was 21 when her first album came out and her party anthems were the soundtrack to my wild and crazy early 20s. I miss early 2010s pop so much, radio music is so full of downer songs these days. Ke$ha 4ever!
Annoying songs, as well. Not annoyingly catchy; just straight - up annoying and irritating. Songs you don’t want to listen to ever again.
This was (very differently) the soundtrack of my early teens in middle school lol which might sound odd but it makes that weird time surprisingly nostalgic
I'm still watching the video but I just wanted to say I absolutely LOVE your videos! I can't imagine the time it must take to do all the research you do for each video. it's much appreciated from my side of the screen as a regular viewer of your channel!
Feeling sad for newer generation who will never experience the hype that is ke$ha did in 2010s
I have fond memeories of this era. Tik Tok was everywhere, every popular song during this time was bright, crazy pop songs. I was a 14 year old who became a regular user of UA-cam and online criticism and I remember music critics savaging this type of music, with Ke$ha being a massive target in particular. How much has the critical discourse behind her has changed.
Working out and a Cozy video is a winning combination 😎
kesha is a fuckin icon . a music prodigy . a free spirit with a heart of gold . she is everythinggg❤
I love Kesha!!! Her music is so fun and she really has a great voice when she does slower songs and without all the auto tune stuff
Kesha’s original “Take it Off” video featured Jeffree Star. She re-recorded it and later very publicly dissed him by collabing with James Charles on You Tube instead of her old “friend” Jeffree. Jeffree then unfollowed Kesha on Twitter. It was big news at the time 😄
The late 00's had such a specific flavor. I remember when Cobra Starship's Viva la Cobra came out in 2007, the synthy party buzz of the opening track was like audible MSG. I hear a lot of that same flavor in og Kesha music.
Thank you Cozy, i love this very much. If you’re doing ke$ha please do The Fame album by Lady Gaga!!
Here for this type of non warped tour coverage! You should branch out into like movies or tv shows If you think you would like that kind of stuff! Roast room raiders or do a retrospective on like Lizzie McGuire 😂
Backstabber is a ridiculously good song and probably my favourite off her album too jfjf I don't know a lot about music theory but I can tell there's probably a reason why its like genuinely so appealing to listen to - maybe something with the progression of notes and the mix of it jdjd the whole thing in general is just really good
Wake up guys!!!! new cozy vid just dropped!!!
This era is still plenty in my playlists today!
Lol I feel so old seeing the comments about people listening to her in elementary school. I was in my last year of high school when Tik Tok came out, and honestly Kesha's music was a perfect fit to close out that neon electropop era of music in the late 00s and early 2010s.
Same. Haha. I was definitely nearing the end of high school. Getting old now I guess even though I don’t personally feel it.
One of my fondest childhood memories is playing Minecraft while listening to these two albums
i still remember when this era
happened and her album dropped
i was in middle school lol
still a timeless classic to this day
good times
Ke$ha was my childhood
used to play roller coaster tycoon n listen to animal i miss it
The album Animal had my friends and I in a CHOKEHOLD throughout high school, it was our absolute favorite and I have some of the best memories just riding around town screaming Boots and Boys and Blah Blah Blah at the top of our lungs 🥹 I will never forget seeing her live with LMFAO it was a mf PARTYYYYY, so effing good!
Nice one! Good to have u back Cozy :)
A Joyous video! Love the new format.
I’m very drunk and watching your videos is amazing 😊 much love from the UK 🇬🇧 please keep up the amazing videos. Much love to you man ❤️ Edit: please do the story of Hollywood Undead and Deuce breakup. That’s a massive story to do
great video! made me remember how much of a kesha fan i was as a kid
Kesha was amazing, I grew up with her music glad I was around for it
I like the new format man
i love ke$ha thank you for making this so much
Dude just wanted to say im glad youre exploring out to things that you are interested in beyond the scene. Keep up the good work homie!
Fuckin love you cozy! Hell yeah. The king is back
Missed you cozy!
Thank you! A new favorite channel
Always a fan of the content, but as someone who was a 14-18 year old Kesha stan, this was a BANGER👌🏻 thank you for this (and please cover warrior too I know it wasn’t as relevant but it is an excellent weird/funky album)
Love ya Cozy
Very much enjoyed this one. I guess I didn't realize exactly how big she was at the time, like all those number ones is impressive. But yeah that was my senior year and yeah the vibe in 2010 was pretty nice.
Definitely hit the memory circuits and nostalgia, and I appreciate your thoughts on her vibe/message, never really thought of it that way but I dig it. Gonna have to revisit, can never go wrong with dance pop/electropop
Shame you didn’t mention how the verse of Tik Tok is essentially the verse from The Party by Uffie and Justice. It’s lifted pretty wholesale.
I’m so surprised the lawsuit with Dr. Luke was never brought up at any point in this. 0.0
Love ur coverage of music stuff! but would be epic if the censor beeps were slightly quieter or different sound/simple audio cut out. hope you have a great day! you have educated me on a lot of pop culture i was not exposed to growing up
was a huuuge Ke$ha fan when she came out with Animal- totally agree Backstabber was my fave track on the record!
hell yeah my dude!! thanks for watching 🙏😍
Honestly surprised her career didn’t last longer. She is very talented
wake up babe, new cozy representative 2000s music retrospective
Julian u da best❤
Iconic
Yayyyyyy
Die young is my favorite ❤
I still love Kesha! I remember the first time I heard her sing the demo for my favorite Girls Genration song Run Devil Run, and being shocked that I never knew that. What she went through was such bullshit
the expansion has begun woo
Screaming
Wait does anyone think it’s weird that tik tok the song and tik tok the app spell it the same “weird” way? They totally stole keshas song name 😂
Would you ever talk about the rise of Gorillaz?
Kesha would have played in warped tour if she hasn't become such a boom so inmediatly
Interesting, you didn't mention "kiss n tell" once. That was my daughter's favorite to hear in the car
I remember complaining to my friends about the Tik Tok music video where she steals a kid's boombox or something, making her a bad influence. Those were simpler times.
Ke$ha was huge when I was newly addicted to snorting oxy's and honestly... I had so much fun back then 😂
Nowadays everything has to be 'perfect' on social media and fake and tame, that's why Ke$ha and Animal strikes a chord
I don’t like pop much, but even if I was knee deep in emo, deathcore etc I enjoyed her songs during the early 2010s ❤
I remember saying to the other guys back in high school that Kesha was like a trashy Taylor Swift but secretly listened to all of her singles. I couldn't deny that they were great and fun pop songs.
backstabber rights
Millionaires is awesome
I was deep into Kesha around 09-10. TBF i did alot of drugs at the time.
@5:10 - im really curious about how you aren't going to involve Dr. Luc because she's been pretty vocal about him being a part of her drug and alcohol issues...
Kesha lol.
Hearing you talking about country music felt weird
Tik tok is a classic pop song
I totally lied about making out with kesha at bamboozle *~*
My favorite part, is when she stole her look, and style of music from The Millioniares.
Too bad she became a borderline parody cringer. That Rich Straight Man song or whatever literally felt like a parody, I didn't thnk it was real at first.
Shame though, I know she's going through a lot. I loved her positivity and carefree spirit. She was the soundtrack to fun.
We love your face, but the new format is killer
