Just to add that a studio apartment is also known as a 'bachelor apartment'. It's an open layout, where bedroom, living room, and kitchen are all combined in one room. Apart from that, there is a private bathroom, sometimes a balcony.

1. cheaper - this studio costs $1280 (330 ft, hydro plus)
2. cheaper heat and hydro (hydro is $40-50/month)
3. bigger space makes you incline to more stuff
4. easier to clean and maintain
Thanks for the summary. With increasing rent prices now, similar studio would now costs approx. $1,500-$1,750, which is much more expensive, but still cheaper than a 1-bedroom in the same building.
My wife and I are renting a 2BR in Calgary for 1500 CAD with hydro and heat included. However, we need a large space because both of us work from home, otherwise your video is super helpful. Thank you

I completely agree with you!! My husband and I downsized last Summer from a 650 sq foot apartment to a 400 sq foot Studio Apartment and there is No Regrets!! We absolutely LOVE it!!! 💕💕💕💕. We recently took Our Car off the Road and now are contributing to a Community Van. It truly has been such a Blessing and a Cost Savings for us!! We have everything we need in our Studio including a "In Suite Laundry". Our Hydro Bill was on $64 for 2 months! I am blown away by the savings we are able to have by making these Simple Changes! 🤗🙂. Nice to see other people doing the same!! New Subscriber 😊
Glad to hear you experienced similar! My hydro bill is very close to that, around $50 each month which is amazing. Living in a small space makes us only keep essentials and not hoard lots of stuff! Thank you!

The cons are the you might have to live alone and might get lonely. Also studio apartments can be expensive than having a place on a sharing basis.
It's not for everyone, but if you find someone you really get along with, then sharing the space works. You're right, there are studio apartments that cost > $2,000. But 1BR/2BR apartments in that same building would cost even more. It's really a matter of preference. Despite everything, I'm still planning to move to a larger space at one point if I find a deal!
While living in Toronto, I rented studios as this existed within my budget. First one was furnished and second unfurnished. First one had separate kitchen, whereas the later one had open layout. For me, the open kitchen in a studio was bad experience of living in a kitchen. Surely it is not the issue for everyone. It made me really upset with idea of studio and wish for a space. Now I live in another country and can afford a spacious space. For me having space is fun but true furniture is cheaper for a studio, but studios are tricky to make them functional.
From my experience, studios are fine if have separate kitchen.
Totally agree. Living in a studio that's open concept combined with a kitchen is not ideal. When you cook the smell goes everywhere! But well, it is manageable, at least for some time. I also prefer studios where the kitchen is kind of separate or at least behind a corner so there's some separation. Great that now you can afford more space!
what about when you have to do a serious #2 in the bathroom? How do couples survive that?
Anyone have a room for rent, I don't rent rooms, but I don't have a choice now, as rent is too expensive for a bachelor or studio
I'm on disability and landlords don't want to rent to people on disability, but I will heal and be able to work again in future.
The places for ent for $1200 and under all seem to be in high crime or bed bug places, and so far I'm finding drug types and drunks for neighbours who want to bang walls and pick fights.
They enjoy picking o disabled who can't defend themselves.
Please someone help me, I would even sleep in a tent in your backyard, its that bad now.

Only issue I see, is the cooking oil splashing everywhere since there is no separate kitchen, could cause problems with upholstered furniture etc
So far I had no problems with that... but I am careful not to make a mess in the 'kitchen'. As long as you keep things contained in the kitchen area, it should be fine. The only annoying thing for some people could be the smell, but even that subsides after a few hours (unless you cook meals that have a very intense aroma)

- Best time to rent (I think it is around July/August)
- Where to get furniture and maybe mention some prices for certain basic elements
- Jobs in Ontario/Canada, and what kind of jobs, other than working in a coffee shop/store (meaning entry level Administrative jobs), can immigrants get.

@@LivinginCanada ohh yes, I’m staying in downtown because I have to lol. Renting a studio for 1995 🤣 plus side it includes utilities. Apparently this is considered a steal now, what times are we living in.
It is! I believe the average rent for 1-bedroom apartment is around $2,300< now, so hang on to that! And including utilities-wow!
