  • This Off-Season I take a look at the best players' form. Not to teach you "the right way to throw" but to inspire you to learn from the great. There are a million ways to make the disc fly far and accurately, and they are all dependent on the individual. That is why I want to show you the many ways that can work perfectly so that you can develop your own, unique style.
The putting, especially from C2 comes almost always down to your legs. You need to transfer the weight forward and up, and then let the arm follow the path your body leans onto. At least with Niklas and Steve...

One thing I've noticed about Niklas's putt is it's totally different when inside like 30 feet. Inside, he keeps his arm straight and push putts. Outside, its much more of a spin putt.

Really proud of you for doing putting videos man. Especially since you said that you were torn about doing them in the past due to being in your head too much. These have been great!

I appreciate that! It's really hard for me when I hit the record button, to throw and talk and all that, but shame is just a feeling.

Ty, like Steve form/method. Been incorporating that weight transfer to the front leg and bracing on it, like in your backhand videos to some success. . That's the easy part, developing touch and feel is another story. Lol

I forgot it's winter, did not even think about the beach attire until you said you were cold. 😄

Do you think "pushing up" is a dangerous cue for players? If you keep your weight transfer on a direct plane toward the basket then releasing the disc in the right direction becomes really easy. Pushing up allows for a lot of variance to have slight direction changes away from the basket and making the arm overcompensate in the other direction

You can't push up without pushing forward too, and vice versa.

Maybe next time, you could use the actual *best* putters as an example - like Gannon Buhr or Andrew Marwede. 😏😁

      Sorry for the video.
But if I'm not mistaken, Steve was the statistically best putter on Udisc just a few seasons ago.
And still, I just want to show how different pros do it. If it bothers you, go find another channels.

@@dgspindoctor Just to reiterate, Jaani- I was joking. I watch all your stuff and appreciate all that goes into it. I'm pretty new to watching pros (like 2 or 3 years ago), so I don't really know who Steve Rico is.

IMO these players are actually not the norm. Overthrow has also mentioned, how a lot of the best up-and-coming putters (Isaac, Gannon, etc) barely use their legs at all.
Could be interesting to look into, however either way I think it is misleading to pick these two players and make a rule out of it.

What about Ricky then? Anyway, the series is about showing different forms and inspiring you to see how it CAN be done, not how it should be done.

@@dgspindoctor Right, I'm not saying one way is right or wrong at all. This series showing the different ways pros do things is a great idea. However just from this video it seemed like you were saying this is the right way to putt that everyone should do. (But that might've just been me 🤷‍♂️)
Anyway, love the vids, hopefully I didn't come off as a hater cause that was not at all my intention. 😅
