Its not really an overpay from the knicks end big picture wise. They paid 0 picks for brunson, randle, dante and 1 first for hart, one second for OG. If they need to put 5 picks down to finish their core, who cares?
that’s one way to look at it. do you think 9 first for all of them would be the same as 9 for bridges alone? it’s a lot for bridges no matter how you slice it.

If it was the Heat or another team then hell no But for the knicks its the final piece for them (or close to it) so it made sense given they underpaid everywhere else. And they had to pay a premium to trade with a cross-town final. Either way, just HAVING 5 picks to trade is such a privileged position to be in😭
