I watched part of this playlist while studying for my OB exam and earned an A! I'm so happy I will definitely be viewing the other videos to help prep for the final!
i learned the term "BATMaN" for the BPP....B: Breathing movement of fetus A: amniotic fluid volume T:tone of fetus (flexion/or extension) M: movement of fetus N: NST result
Great video. Caught a potential error; per ATI, Fetal Breathing Movement normal test would be at least one episode of greater than 30 seconds duration in 30 minutes = 2 for the BPP, and absent or less than 30 second duration = 0. I heard "at least one breathing movement in 30 seconds" which is not what NCLEX teaches on this
Thank you soooo much for making these maternity videos! You are the only resource that I've found that actually goes over all this stuff (aside from textbook & professors).
I’m a new momma, 17 weeks pregnant w my first baby and watching your videos gives me a better understanding on everything and what is yet to come. Thank you 🤍
Hello I am 34 weeks today and they want me to take a NST I'm really nervous I pray my baby is fine, throughout my whole pregnancy I have never had any problems
Thank you for sharing your NST/CST experiences with your children. That is really interesting that your daughter never passed the tests but is perfectly healthy!
Thank you… I’ve been having NSTs and BBPs, and have not understood why I’ve been going for the NSTs. (I find them very stressful, myself 😅) this video finally explained WHY they are important, which makes all the difference. Thank you so much for sharing!!
Oh my gosh I'm so happy I could help make sense of these procedures! I found NSTs stressful too, always worrying if we'd get a good result or not! Sending you and your babe the best wishes in the world! --Meris :)
I’m studying for my nclex by watching all level up rn videos. I couldn’t afford the cards but I appreciate your explanations on making sure we understand.
I love your videos! I swear, I will owe you my whole LPN! lol I only ever listen to your videos, however today I'm listening while folding laundry and looked up to see your desk.. A FELLOW URANIUM GLASS COLLECTOR?? 💚☢️ Well, I love you even more now!
I LOVE your personal stories at the end of these videos, thank you for being so open and sharing that with us! These videos help us nursing students tremendously.
Your videos are amazing! The quality, delivery, and clarity all are top-notch. That too without any aid of diagrams, animations or PPT. I am watching these videos to developed an IOT based app. I am not a medical student still understood it thoroughly.
hi , i love your channel,i have read text books several times but never got to understand the nonstress test and cst, today its made easier after listening to your audio.
This video was really helpful. I did stay for your story at the end because I also had to have NST's for both my children. Both were fine, however, my daughter was born first but her name is Finley! Just had to share because how similar that was.
Great catch! It's one or more episode of breathing movements for greater or equal to 30 seconds DURING the 30 minutes of the BPP. I'll try and get an overlay added to clear that up!
In a patient with placenta previa, we would be able to perform an NST and BPP, however we would not want to induce contractions for diagnostic purposes! --Meris
Love your videos!❤️🩺 If the non stress test came back non reactive would you call the DR for further instruction or turn the PT on their side and try the test again?
Great question! Typically in the outpatient setting, if after 20 minutes the NST is non-reactive, we would reposition the patient, and give them something like orange or apple juice for some cold sugar to try and stimulate baby. We can also use the vibroacoustic device to try and buzz baby awake and go for another 20 minutes. If it's STILL not reactive, we would be updating the provider, and they would likely progress to doing a BPP!

Thank you so much! The flashcards are available on our website: www.leveluprn.com/products/maternity-nursing-flashcards --Meris :)
Memory trick for BPP score: Upper case “B” for BPP looks like an 8 so that is the cutoff for what is a safe vs not safe score.
Ooo I LOVE that!!! --Meris
Tbh I was like “who is this lady?” But this is a great video. Thanks -cramming

Does an NST use ultrasound? Doppler is a type of ultrasound, right? Thank you.
معروف لدينا حتى في الطب التقليدي ان البنات قليلات الحركة داخل الرحم على عكس الأولاد
contraction rhymes w/ subtraction… want the test to be (-)negative
Good way to remember! Thank you for sharing.

So with a patient who has placenta previa we are able to perform this test?

You sure know how to teach.
Quick question: When is Contraction stress test done ?( like at what week in pregnancy is it done?) TIA
So happy I can help! CSTs are done after 34 weeks typically. --Meris :)
