I love notebook, paper, and ink reviews! This one included! I'm currently only getting pens that add a new texture (Kuretake antler pen, for instance) or something else unique to my collection; but I have to have something to write on, and something to leave on the page! Thank you!
Love a good notebook and TR paper is always such a delight for our inks. Personally, I’m down for paper and general stationery reviews! As you noted, I have to write with these amazing pens on something.
Haha, I am definitely in the "many inked pens" category with 5 always inked pens + another 15-20 in circulation. The notebook reviews may seem less sexy, but very helpful! I've been enjoying an Odyssey notebook for my daily journal, which my husband ordered for me thanks to your review. I like a softcover so it lays flat, and then use a leather cover to protect whatever journal I'm currently writing in. I like to keep that simple since I'm rotating pens so much, when I travel I'm going to have a separate pen case anyway so loops, etc.. aren't as interesting. Current cover does have a pen loop though because the Odyssey notebook is THICK and my older cover was too small. I have a set of the Galen Leather Everyday notebooks, and I'm still on the first one. I use it mostly for doodles, testing pens, playing around... The pages are too thin for journaling because I think the show through does interfere with legibility and in my journal I really really want to use both sides of the paper.
I miss your videos. Where have you been? Are you unwell? Has there been a disaster in your condo? With your adorable feline buddy? Your parents? WHAT'S UP?
Galen Leather notebooks are beautiful, but after some experimentation with them, I think I just prefer paper with some sort of grid already on it. I can't write in a straight line to save my life and find the page guides just too fiddly. But OMG, I just got my latest Goulet Pens order today and immediately inked up my new BENU Talisman - the Sandalwood - with some Robert Oster Whiskey and I'm in love. I can't wait to test out Some Diamine Ancient Copper in it!
@@diane_elizabeth I wanted to get the broad, but they were gone, so I went for the medium instead, and I’m actually glad I did. It does smell good, but i’m wondering if it will fade over time.
@@jeanlovesteaNice. I imagine opening the cap to write and being met with that lovely sandalwood fragrance. i discovered recently that the nib units can be swapped so i have a mandrake nib which i had ground into an architect in my confetti milkshake euphoria. have a great weekend. XD!
hey im new to your channel. really love your reviews, theyre so full of energy that can only come from genuine passion and love. hope you're doing fine with life and we'll hear from you again soon. cheers xx
Kerry you always steer me well with notebooks and Galen is my Numero Uno but the Odyssey books are just beautiful too. I guess if you like a super gusher you don't have issues with the new TR? I thought I liked a gusher too but ended up having to add a wetting agent to every pen of the 18 I used. Originally I started adjusting all my nibs..my good pens, thank goodness I didn't mess up too much realising the new TR and I may have to break up. I can't believe I'm saying that
I got into Galen products shortly after getting into fountain pens. Their A5 everyday notebook with a personalized cover in crazy horse tan has been my daily notebook for a year and a half and I adore it
I have the basic black softcover, that's old enough to have the original Tomoe River paper in it. I don't use it nearly often enough but I've made it into my Commonplace book and there's a lot I need to get around to adding to it. Time, alas, is not a thing right now.
I like how the pen with ancient copper seems to enhance your writing and was interested in your sensory expression when you enjoyed the feeling of a particular writing experience. ❤
Love your whispered opening and your red Kaweco. Never saw that color before. Have you tried the Clairefontaine "My Essential" notebook? The paper quality, for me, is as good as it gets: handles ink perfectly and feels good through the nib. The line spacing is (I think) 8mm, my preference as I write mostly with B, BB and Music nibs.
Hello, I'm looking to purchase either a Pilot Custom 823 to a Sailor Pro Gear, just looking for a daily writer, I'm not a collector. Is there one that you would recommend? Thanks
Kerry! Because of your enthusiasm and honest reviews of both companies, I just got an A5 journal from Galen and am waiting on a BENU Euphoria that's arriving later in the week!
I typically have 20-25 or so inked at one time. They get cleaned as they run out of ink. (Usually) I don't ink up a new pen until an old one has run out of ink and has been cleaned. The is typically 1-3 a week. BTW: I find some of the Troublemaker lighter inks to be extraordinarily dry.
Kerry… another great video… I’ve ordered a Galen Leather 1870 A5 book and am looking forward to getting it. I didn’t see whether it’s 52 gsm or 65 gsm Tomoe River paper… which is it?
I love GL notebooks (actually everything GL) be it with the simple cover or the leather one, not tried the new hardcover one but I'm not sure I am taker. I usually use my notebook with a slim cover and I don't necessarily see the need for a hardcover. Though next time I order something I might as well add a hardcover.
I TOLD myself when i got my custom 823 a month ago that i’d stop buying pens for the rest of the year. Watching your video almost, almost made me resolution crumble. Almost 😂. But now on the list for January 1st 2025 are some more Pilot pens!
Hope all is well. Been missing your videos!

That's a wonderful Notebook from Galen Leather. You didn't mention, but is that the one with 200 sheets (400 pages) and 52 GSM white Tomoe paper?

I agree, 3 is max inked up. 👍🏼

It’s 52 gsm TR paper!
I was surprised by the feedback on the two Pilots. I expected them to be quite smooth. The Magna Carta looked effortless 😊
8 Pens, you should do each finger nail the same as the 8 inks :):)
Great video love GL notebooks!
Can't believe this ... first like and first comment ...
Love your videos, keep up the great work!!
I miss your videos. They bring a bit of joy to me in an often ugly world. I hope you're doing well.
This notebook is so gorgeous - wondering - how well does the line guide show through? (Also - I LOVE cleaning pens. Lol)

Which Tomoe paper is this?
I missed every thing .where are you?
No, I've never used Galen notebooks.
