When it comes to the difference between cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation I always think of Audrey Hepburn, she was of Dutch, English, and Austrian ancestry but really loved and resonated with Italian culture. She lived in Italy, learned to speak Italian, cooked Italian food, and learned Italian history and culture but never claimed to be Italian herself nor claimed she wished she was Italian. Just respectfully immersed herself in a culture she loved.
What Oli does is not respectful, it’s obsessive and inappropriate.
Audrey Hepburn is the perfect example of cultural appreciation she took time to immerse herself in the culture for the reasons you mentioned but she never once claimed to be Italian or try to change her face or race
London is the total opposite of her. I had my Korean American friend watch him and she was torn between being concerned, confused and and 🤬. She said “if he cared that much about the Korean culture. The very first thing he could have done was the learn the language before messing with his face

I know he’s got some definite mental issues but I think he thrives on the clout and attention he gets even if it’s negative

I really think he’s the type who believes any press is good press and just wants to be famous any possible way so he sacrificed his integrity and unfortunately it worked.
I’m concerned about the younger people who will see his “success” in becoming well known for the wrong reasons and want to follow in his footsteps, I can only hope that he’ll one day realize how inappropriate his behaviour is and make a change for the better but that’s probably just wishful thinking.

As someone who has done hours and hours of Asian culture/history research this really makes me just sad. All a lot of people see when it comes to Korea or any eastern asian country, they see the westernized and popular culture. I've dived deep into the history and past the country has experienced. The people who are just like us that live there, and the stories of people who risked their lives to migrate from North Korea. I just really wish people would respect a whole culture, and not just a part of it.
Yeah, although I do enjoy kpop, the reason I'm interested in korea is because of the desp culture. I'm specifically interested in foods and architectural design.

jimin is the lead vocalist, jungkook is the main. the lead vocalist is usually someone who could of “leads” people into a song, basically just below main, whereas the main vocalist is the main event for the vocals. taehyung and jin are sub vocalists (? i think), which means they support everything, like a foundation to the song although they sub vocalists usually get the least lines.

I would like to say that i really liked your video. I'm really happy to see that people around the world understand those things, because It's not really normal what he's doing. (Please, do not get me wrong, I love seing people being intrested in my country or/and korean music, it's very nice watching some videos of non korean people doing k-beauty makeup and stuff like this, and i think it's really totally okay.)
