    A significant winter storm has been impacting the Cascade Mountains overnight. Abundant onshore flow and cold temperatures aloft made the perfect recipe for heavy snow in the mountains. Within this package is numerous traveling shots on i-90 while heavy snow is falling. Skiers and snowboarders rejoice as the ready to hit the slopes. There is also an abundant amount of good snow removal shots. Snow plow shots are scattered throughout. Heavy snow is still falling up at Snoqualmie Pass and chains are required on all vehicles except for AWD.

      @@Jakecooks Thats because they claim to not have time to check. Laziness. When I dispatched and brokered freight so always looked up the weather and if it wasnt safe, truck shuts down. I could also send a link to weather snd gps of where truck was so customers could explain to consignee. As a driver, you are better off making those calls yourself and then calling your dispatchers boss to let him know the time change. That would help them train a bad dispatcher to do their job more thoroughly.

    • @Jakecooks
      @Jakecooks 3 роки тому +2

      @@FunnyStrange888 that is true and sometimes looking up weather online can paint a different picture than what the driver really is going through. Some dispatchers do not care either. I disliked most dispatchers until I was on a dedicated gig.

    I drive this pass everyday in a semi. As passes go, Snoqualmie is a minor bump - only about a ten mile drive in chains normally: 7 miles up and 3 miles down to the chain-off area. When it's this heavy, I'll leave the chains on for another ten miles, mostly a flat run except for Easton hill, which is a decent to mile post 71 chain off area. Properly installed (that means TIGHT) , chains will get a semi through just about everything. It's the guys who think they're Tommy Tough Guy that screw up and put it in the ditch. The State Patrol will let you roll with just chains on the rear drives and one on the trailer, but if you get stuck, they'll come along and be happy to inform you that you should have chains on all drive axles and that one on the trailer. "Sign here, please." I've never needed to do that, but I'm sure the day will come.

Some homes caught on fire and people lost all their personal belongings. Yes, with out electricity for days and lives lost was horrible. I am grateful I made it through this storm in Texas🙏 Stay safe and prepared everyone🥰😇

    About the first of January 1976 and I was driving a large U-Hall with chains on the tires and pulling my car behind through Snoqualmie Pass. Lots of snow and snowing and traffic stopped. An officer from the highway patrol was walking from vehicle to vehicle saying the road was closed and to turn back or wait it out. He asked where I was going and I said to Minnesota. He asked where I learned to drive. I said Minnesota. Everyone in that long line was probably pretty surprised to see a big U-Haul pulling a car proceed through the pass.

    Thanks for sharing which we Washingtonians already know of Winter's around here at times. This is a La Nina Year and a great snowpack for the upcoming year. Being Snoqualmie is only at 3K or so in elevation.......cannot imagine what North Cascades Highway looks about now. Or that regarding 410 on the North and East Side of Rainier. Seems roads leading to some trailheads may be delayed a few more weeks than normal. Well at least brush will covered up more on some routes which is a win-win!
