The Smithsonian institution showed us The Islamic prayer ritual is copied from the Sumerian Mesopotamian Pagan ritual Šu-il-lá, an act of praying exhibited by lifting of hands, or to lift the hands towards face, including kneeling and prostration towards a sacred idol or monument. This ritual was practice by Pagans over 6000 years ago.
The Sabians had these practices as well (inherited from earlier cultures, I'm sure), and Muhammad was a Sabian (he is called that by many people in Islamic sources). They also washed themselves, performed a pilgrimage, etc.

Such connections certainly exist, but they tend to be indirect or highly modified, sort of like pagan customs that passed into Christianity in Europe such as flying reindeer legends, Easter eggs, Christmas trees, and prohibitions on cousin marriage and polygamy (both of which were uncommon and socially disapproved among the Greeks and Romans) even though both were and are allowed under Mosaic law (and of course Islam too). Finding parallels in religious rites, customs, etc. in paganism, although interesting, is among the weakest possible arguments against Islam, Christianity, or Judaism. Remember, pagan Egyptians practiced circumcision before Abraham did, but so what?

This video has strengthened my _iman_ (faith). My _iman_ in the old verity that no weapon formed against Jesus Christ will prosper, that is. Mr Tate will come home one day, when he tires of controversy-mongering. The Islam stunt, like his sex tape, his obscenity laced political rants, his participation in the sordid reality TV show Big Brother, and his calculated derogatory opinions on women, is a bid for media notoriety. A big middle finger to the powers that be. One can't say he has entirely failed.
He knew it was not an upright way to live when he was a tithing member of the Orthodox Church that takes a strong line against moral decadence, but he didn't care. He knew running casinos and webcam models was against every religion known to man, but hedonism came before the religious values he pretends to cherish. Muslims carry on like his behaviour in _"jahiliyyah"_ was acceptable among devout Christians and that now he "knows better" he will change. Hope springs eternal I guess. Muslims are "only" allowed four wives AT A TIME. Divorce is extraordinarily easy, just say "I divorce thee" three times. About 20 years ago, I read in the MSM about some Muslim ruler in the Persian Gulf area but I have forgotten just which state, who used one slot of his four wife allotment as a revolving door. No, he isn't. I haven't seen attitude like this since the last time i visited Reddit. This is beyond that. And to what gain? I repeat myself: What is to be gained? What is this? I never expected something so unbecoming of this seemingly brilliant and humble man.
The video is definitely over the top, which I felt was appropriate for something as unserious as Tate. But don't worry, this type of thing won't become the norm.
@@deturco There's nothing wrong with not finding a piece of satire amusing. It's a universal human trait. Name the greatest humourist you care to mention in literature or standup and I will point to you stuff of theirs which is below par. As they say, there's no accounting for taste.
