I don’t have an upright piano or a Nord, and I’ve never sampled an instrument, but I still enjoyed all 40 minutes of this. Thank you for sharing and inspiring.
Oh thank you for this! I sampled my upright a few years ago and it didn't come out quite right. I like your mentality of sampling your piano multiple times to get different characters from it. I was feeling like I failed at it the first time, now I'm excited to try again with a new list of things to look out for and to try along the way from this video.
Thank you, too! Super video. Your piano sounds wonderful! I have a Wave 2 arriving in a couple of days' time excitingly, and I'm gonna try sample my piano too. This is something i haven't done since doing this with my ESi32 many moons ago. I also found the best location to record it was at the lower end of the frame, above the pedals. Mine is a 1927 Steinway K which was left in the place I'm in 40 years ago by an old flat mate. It's like the Challen. Am very intrigued and really appreciate you sharing this to start me on the adventures into making its spirit mobile. All the best to you! 😊
Thanks for this in depth video about sampling. It's very useful since I plan to buy the Nord Electro 6 and I was curious to see the whole proces in a nice longer video. Tack så mycket!
This was perfect! Ever since I started seriously considering the NW2 I’ve been curious about the realities of the sampling process. I learned allot! Thank you!
The Nord Wave 2 seems like a nice flagship synth, capable of doing almost anything. Truly a professional instrument, built to be a life-long partner in both the studio and the stage. I'll almost certainly never have one, because it's way beyond my skill level, but I've enjoyed your videos showing what a true artist does with it.
Amazing, I never imagined one could sample an upright so thoroughly: despite being a "mere" sample section program, it sounds as good as Nord's pianos! Would you be willing to share the file? I'd love to be able to play your beautifully sampled piano!
Super cool! I hope Nord comes up with an update that gives a bit more on board control of the sample section. Like having the Oscillator Control change the sample start point, so you could use that as a morph, or even have an option to reverse the sample.
Wow !!!! very impressive works - wonderfull video explaining the sampling of a piano from A to Z and raising most of the issues you can meet doing it - very nice result - You should have spent a lot of time on this. Congratulations ! (if I remember well if you do not want to use the Dynamic Filter feature on the sample you can activate the RAW SAMPLE button next to the synth screen and it will cancel this parameter directly on the synth so that you can save your sample with this feature activated in the Nord Sample Editor anyway ;-) ).
My Wave 2 workflow is similar - I record one long wave file of every third note, making sure I get the natural decay and a silence gap - the wave file can be over 10 minutes long - but the Nord Sample Editor picks it apart really well, after which I just tidy it up. I’m finding that mono importing works almost as well, and obviously halves the file sizes. I like the ability to batch truncate, envelope and loop, saves a lot of time. The combo of the Wave 2 and Sample Editor are the quickest and easiest I’ve ever used.
I have a Nord wave! I would love to buy this patch as it is! I have several nicely tuned Yamaha grand piano patches, I want a nice grandma's piano patch. Beautifully tuned just like this.
Dude... You are an amazing musician and artist. The most beautiful lines on piano that I have heard it. Make a mellow piano album. Or many. I will buy everyone. Best regards.
You’d think the Nord would have some multi sampling technology in there. At least 3 layers. Great sounding piano and nice work around though! I’m sure it would be welcome on pisnobook
Very nice tutorial. Thanks! The out of tune keys makes the difference. It is nice because of that. It would be nice to have in available in your store as it is. Cheers!!
Awesome you can change the loop point for all the different samples at once. I don’t think the MPC Live can do that and I’ve always wondered why that’s the case
Hello, this is amazing, i would be glad to find something similar for Deluge, as there are two oscillators (that can be of type sample), it should allow even more natural sound. ❤️
Hi! I love the way this piano came out. I was wondering if you have any interest in releasing a version for Decent Sampler? If so, I can help put it together!
That sounded very homely, warm, nostalgic and genuine. I would rather listen to this sound than yet another generic grand piano that would cost 100000$...
Heisann.
I don’t have an upright piano or a Nord, and I’ve never sampled an instrument, but I still enjoyed all 40 minutes of this. Thank you for sharing and inspiring.
same here :) ASMR Cuckoo
The asmr at the end... I'm actually tearing up. I'd kill for a cuckoo soft piano/singing album

Thanks for being our friend through the internet Cuckoo. Mr. Rogers' piano vibes are always welcomed. Keep up the awesome work!
Cuckoo consistently puts out amazing content around making music and synths and stuff. Great work. Keep it up!
that improv was lit at the end haha
Thank you, too!

Fant UA-camn din via Andrew, har aldrig hørt noe slags musikk utført som du gjør! Sinnsyk kul og unik rytme. 10/10
Tusen takk Swaggy! 🙏🏼

What a lovely time spent enjoying your passion with you again. Keep on keeping on.
Beautiful piano playing

I really enjoyed watching this ! Keep em coming please :)
Now I miss my old Pleyel when i was 10 ! Thanks for this both technical and nostalgic moment.
Lovely lovely lovely. … the ending is epic. And thats what makes Cuckoo videos so different ;-) Beautifull.

Post editing ZOom and use of [a] mirror... GENIUS! Thank you for the infotainment. And yes, I admit it. I now love your piano, too. Cheers!
I think it sounds lovely! Great video!
Thanks for this video! Such an inspiration for someday getting around to mic'ing up and sampling my mum's old piano that I learned to play on.
that piano sound is beautiful...
your voice and keys are so beautiful
Your piano pack works wonderfully with my Wave 1! Thank you!

Dude... You are an amazing musician and artist. The most beautiful lines on piano that I have heard it. Make a mellow piano album. Or many. I will buy everyone. Best regards.
This is just the video that I was looking for cause I want to sample my vintage electric piano in my electro, cool
Can´t wait this piano sample to buy it
You’d think the Nord would have some multi sampling technology in there. At least 3 layers. Great sounding piano and nice work around though! I’m sure it would be welcome on pisnobook

Wasn't sold on the Wave2 until now. Cheers, mate!

Sound is amazing, but what caught my attention is your glasses. They are seriously awesome. 👍
What an amazing video
That was the most entertaining make the sample sound good that I have heard
REALLY NICE RECORDING
I love that piano...I think im going to look for an upright this summer and then maybe some friends to help move it haha
Really nice video man!
Great sampling lesson. Thanks

Would love to get this for my Nord Piano. Love also the Impro at the End :-)
Awesome. If you get a hold of a Wurlitzer 200 it would be great to see you sample that too.
Thank you dude for inspiring me!

Good job man! a lot of work but well worth it.
Amazing worrk.
Very cool! Great content
Amazing sounding
Awesome!

Hello,
Nice Video, is it possible to get the sample?
You look lovely in your new glasses, ka pai!
Is it possible to add your own cycles to the wavetable section? Does it support audio over USB?
you should do more on how do "abuse" this process
Hello! Can you send me the link to buy? And if you have more stuff for Wave 2, I'm interested.
Wow! Sounds great, is it possible to get this sample patch?
boa noite
que belo trabalho
por favor como faço para adquirir esse piano meu amigo ?
33:33 maybe you could sample it again using mics farther away to create a reverb effect?
Is this sample for sale? I don't see it on your site
Surely the 'naughty spot' is what you're after.
Can we buy this sample of yours?
thank you for your insight. what mic stand is that? Would be perfect for recording my setar.
K&M mic stands. They have a bunch of different pieces for different use cases.
Can"t we sample and map multiple velocity zones ?
Not on the Nordwave 2, unfortunately.
I keep coming back to this video, this sample sounds really nice! Is this patch available for download on your patreon?
nice...
Which software have you used for the multiple velocity layers?

Great work!!! Is the sample available for download anywhere?
Therapeutic video, my friend. Btw, a shame Wave 2 doesn't support layers, samplers from 1993 can do that, like EPS16
There's a bunch of things Nords can't do and keyboards from the 2000's can do
There is something special about a slightly out of tune upright piano 🎹
nice glasses 8)
Hice job, well done. Please tune this piano hehe 😅
It's a crime! To tune it haha
Thanks! Yeah, it’s about two years ago that I tuned it now!
@@kcahdp haha is pleasure.
@@truecuckoo sounds awesome as is - thanks for the lesson
This video is a liminal space 😊
Nord is a bogus company, weird and irritating. Nutso. No velocity layers , great samples but outdated tech.
