Nice interpretation! It’s difficult to find anyone trying the lead guitar part and I like that you guys played both parts together to show how it sounds.
I know this is just showing the parts and not the effects, but do you recon the lead guitarist is using an expression pedal to swell in and out the delay effect for those “pushing” parts?

Lemon Sqeez I just checked the song. I’m not hearing any swells on the pushes. If you can give me a time stamp on the song I can give it a closer listen as to what your talking about

Specifically, you can hear a washy stereo delay fade in after the first chorus at 1:43 and abruptly cut off at 1:57. The guitar on the right comes back to it at 3:06-3:17 with the part you’re covering in this video. You can tell it’s a delay effect because you can clearly hear the repeats at 3:38 to the end.
I’m wondering if he gets this sound by turning on and off a delay pedal with high feedback (to the point of self-oscillation). I think you could also get a similar effect with the hold/freeze function on a Timeline. Yet, I haven’t heard anyone attempting to recreate that sound in a cover.

Lemon Sqeez I think our timestamps are crossed but your description has a clear sustained note(s) of feedback and at the end slides back to nothing and volume is cut. You can accomplish this live by a guitar feeding back into an amp with delay/verb. Wiggling the note(s) more to creat tension and extra feedback and sliding backward toward the guitars nut and dropping volume. Depending on your signal chain of effects if using a board is going to determine how you drop volume without trails. Don’t forget this is a studio album and can be corrected in a controlled environment. Not everything is as polished live sometimes. Hope this helps.

Tom Rodriguez I understand what you mean by getting feedback from an amp, which might be a factor to the sound on on the record. It looks like he just uses a single pedal to do this live though. I’m pretty sure it’s just a delay with the feedback really high now. Check out 3:24-3:40 in this performance: ua-cam.com/video/BIQ_vUKJ4Xg/v-deo.html
