I found a way to make the mission really easy. If you build a tower the bandits always rush to it first, so they don't attack your other buildings (only if it is on the path). So you can just pop this tower as early as you can (Make sure to have a quary as your first building since you don't have enough stone for barracks and the tower, so build the barracks first and hope you can get the stone quickly). Once you have the tower all becomes easy and you just need to garrison it with crossbowmen and put all your units around it. From then on it is just about producing enough resources.
Yeah, I did it with a cheese, but it worked perfectly. If you have a tower all enemies will agro on it, so from then on you can just normally produce everything and keep a bunch of crossbowmen in the tower to kill all bandits that come.
