Helpful video! Thanks for making it. Do you have any tips on creating a totally new parent listing for an existing ASIN (that I originally created years ago, with lots of reviews)? And the only variation will be the quantity of included items. I'd like to retain all of the comments and feedback for the original child listing of 5-piece, but create a parent listing that is inclusive of the 5--piece listing, retains all the feedback and allows for new quantities. For example 1.3, 5, 6 pieces of the ASIN.
@AdamHeist do you know if the Vine reviews must be fully received before you can merge products? If you give out all 30 Vine products and then merge before the reviews come in, will they be voided by the presence of greater than 30 reviews on the combined listing? Thanks for all the great info!
Hi Adam, quick question. I have a product that include 4 variations. I have the Parent Asin , and 4 child ASINs. If I use your "copy Listing" method, will the new additional variations be added so that they show up on the same listing?
Awesome video and strategy! I've been debating what to do with a new product I am launching next month. Same category as the hero listing I have, but different design product. I will follow your strategy. I assume you then do separate PPC campaigns targeting different KWs for each child ASIN. If I have 2 separate PPC campaigns targeting same KW but with different child ASINs, will both product ads show up in the search results, or will AMZ only show one?
Yes, we'll set up specific campaigns for the new ASIN - typically targeting niche KWs not targeted as strongly by the hero. If you target the same word with different ASINs in the both campaigns - they will both show up (depending on bids, placements). If in the same campaigns it may default to one or show both.
Hi Adam, thanks again for a very informative video. One quick question, in the SOP it says to change the product ID number, is that then a new UPC code for the new variation?
when I initially set up 2 stand alone listings with the intent of merging them later after enrolling in vine - do I indicate the product has no variations when I first set it up? for example, Amazon asks "Does the product have variations?". Do I just put "no" for now?
Can you add a variation theme to an existing listing? Exp: original listing only has a size variation theme, now I need to add color but it is greyed out. Without starting over can I add new variation theme?
Hey Adam, thanks for the video, it came at a bizarrely perfect time for us! My question is: We're currently rebranding, and we're figuring out what to do with our best-selling product. It's our biggest money maker, but it's gone down to a 4.0 rating (mostly due to supply chain issues and some unclear instructions), so our plan is to launch our rebranded version as a variation and use your method to reap these benefits and then keep the rebranded listing down the line. Would this method work in our case? Or is it risky? Thank you :)
The brand name attribute will need to be the same. So you’ll need to change the brand name of the old listing (not always a straight line but possible).
@@AdamHeist Sorry for the confusion- we’re rebranding the design of the product, not the name :) I’m just worried it will be a problem that it’s the exact same product in different packaging
Hi Adam, I am looking to merge 2 listings using this strategy. One listing has 30 reviews, one has zero. When I combine these listings, will the new listing retain the 30 reviews?
Thanks, Adam for this helpful video. Is it really necessary to have the same browse node before making parentage for child variation? I have a client with 3 (3 ASINS) similar products (cups), only the color is different, now thinking to merge them and create a parent, however, just found out that they are under different browse nodes e.g. ASIN A-664..., ASIN B-235.., ASIN C-220...appreciate your thoughts on this. Thank you.
Yea, they will need to be on the same browse node to make the change. If you want to do this and it makes sense, you’ll need to request a new browse node with seller central ticketing.
Hi Adam, what should I do if I want to merge 3 parent SKUs into 1? I mean, I have 3 listings with 3 color variations each. The issue is that these were listed separetely (per size), even though is a product that should have been listed with size and color variations. (Tshirts) Listing #1 ( small size with 3 color varations), listing #2 ( medium size with 3 color variations) and listing #3 ( large size with 3 color variations) I want to merge all to have color and size variations into one single listing. I would really appreciate your help.
Hey Adam. Can I use Vine while asin is set to be launched in the future (inactive)? If not, activating it for Vine purposes would probably exhaust the honeymoon period since Vine reviews don't show up quickly enough. Any thoughts?
@@AdamHeist what do you think about the honeymoon period for new child ASIN? Does it work as effectively as new? Or as you said in the video, if the existing child ASIN already rank on certain KWs then the new one won’t show, so it doesn’t work to its full potential as new child?
Hey Adam I would love to ask, what entry jobs/careers would you recommend would give the best experience towards creating my own brand and e-commerce? I went through the FBA process with my first product. It wasn't a complete success but I learnt a lot in the process! I'm eager try again, however I'd love to work through a company and gain experience to maximise my chances of success. E-commerce as we all know changes fast and so much technical knowledge to learn. P.S Your channel adds real technical value that very few want to deliver, keep it up! :)
I would check out amazon centric agencies or amazon aggregators with remote positions. Good way to get a lot of reps in different brands. Also let’s you bring your baseline knowledge to the table and you’ll learn skills to take your own brand to the next level.

It’s best to merge with flat file

Thanks Adam. Do you you have to wait to actually get the vine reviews posted before merging?
No just until it’s approved and inventory is checked in.
Awesome video. Please share some thoughts on How to move variations from one parent listing to another? (yes they are in same category)
Unmerge and then change to another parentage. Browse node much be the same though.

You need to have inventory shipped in typically. You can turn it on right when you go live and it won't impact honeymoon.
Very helpful!
Glad you think so! Cheers.

Nope. Just need inventory to get checked in and then you can merge before launch.

So I could list the parent item with zero inventory then copy that listing to make the variation?
Your first upload will need a UPC.
