- This interview with pad leader Guenter Wendt was part of an oral history program at the NASA Johnson Space Center. He was interviewed by Catherine Harwood on February 25, 1999, in Titusville, Florida.
This man was a genius and was integral to the space program. RIP
Thank you for posting this wonderful interview of THE
most supportive man to our space program. True engineering hero, all...
My favorite part was when he talks about giving and keeping your word. Also, no shame in not knowing something.
What a Guy....Where Guenter go.....Guenter Wendt....RIP Legend of the Cape.
We are very lucky to have this video of this incredible man. A true professional and razor sharp mind, even at 76 years of age. Inspiring.
Seems like a wonderful man. Smart, dedicated but also fun. A treasure for sure
I've viewed so many documentaries over the years, such that I thought I'd heard all there was to hear. So cool that Guenter's interview revealed ALL NEW material I'd never encountered before!
Something he could never have expected to hear as a teen: “Thank you, sir. You were a great American.”
I realize she is trying to steer the conversation in a specific direction, but I completely enjoyed this interview! His is quite the talker!🚀🚀
The story about the plastic wrap around a solid rocket motor made a big impression on me during my Payload Assist Module days.
"Ahh, Guenter Wendt. I wonder where Guenter went?" -- Apollo 13 astronauts.
My favourite movie ever that inspired me to do engineering
Wonderful interview! Thank you for sharing!
So...he designed a device that was so secret even he wasn't allowed to know about it? It sounds like a Monty Python sketch.
Incredible
The space program may have been canceled or severely defunded if Guenter wasn't there making sure disasters didn't occur.
This is fascinating. Thank you so much!
Ah! Gunter Went! I wonder where Gunter Went.
40:33 “What Fun”
😂
I wonder where Guenther went?
I worked on viewing box 8 on the launch pad… we met him once, at a rocket storage facility . After that we always wonder where Guenter Wendy went , because we never saw him again. I worked at several assembly plants and all said the same thing “ where did Wendt went? He certainly received his pay checks … they were sent by messenger or by post. I was one of the messengers to deliver his checksbut they were accepted by someone else on his behalf. I found him at North American mopping floors. And his twin brother we assumed was helping to build nuclear munitions a a top secret plant. So that’s where he went! And this is where he is. You left your launch shut down button at the launch viewing box abandoned … Know that the only thing I ever saw Wendt went for was a pay check at different locations He was wendting around so much he didn’t seem to do much. The same as I remember him in Germany
Your comment is a pointless waste of bandwidth.
THIS CHANNEL HAS NO CONTENT OF ANY KIND. IT'S OBVIOUSLY A BOT.
Mindless blather!
@@halcyonoutlander2105 Thank you for reminding me. Wendt would send somebody to his alleged workplace to drop a half smoked cigarette butt on the floor and used them as evidence for the judge that he was present for work when he was accused of absconding of pay that he didn't deserve because he was never present at his assigned workplaces .
@@halcyonoutlander2105 certainly nothing that Wendt went to smoke when we couldn't find him
