My wife and I who are child free have been in a similar situation. It was suggested that we not visit my sister and brother in law at Christmas. So now we get up when we want, eat what we want when we want, drink what we want and entertain ourselves as we want. Thank you brother in law!

Why is that reaction so common in America? Are people with kids resentful regarding couples that don't have kids? I NEVER heard anything like that in my life. Quite on the contrary. It just has upsides when you invite family without children (as long as you like each other of course).
So many stories where the childfree person/couple is uninvited unless they agree to spend an enormous amount of $$$ on kids or relatives that are not their responsibility. Is that suppose to be a punishment?🤷🏾♂️ Too many entitled people and now parents out here thinking that them cutting of contact from their own toxicity is a punishment but in reality it's the trash taking itself out. Also big props to Tod for speaking up to take the lead by pressing charges and getting a restraining order.
The level of entitlement has gotten so much worse over the years; it's disgusting. At this point I focus on my own family and just hope aliens kidnap all the entitled people, karens, kevins, mooches etc etc off the planet. They're not even childfree by choice. Those entitled monsters are pulling that card on a couple that medically can't have kids. That's just so gross. Especially them telling her parents that they should fix their kid.
Why is it that everyone thinks childless or child-free people should pay for their kids? I can't have kids either, but I would be BEYOND PISSED if I was ORDERED to get gifts for someone's kids! Like I don't have bills to pay or that I don't want to buy myself things! I'm not a millionaire by any means (more like a hundred dollar-aire) but people feel entitled to what you have because you have no kids or are single. F those people.
Idk, both my sisters are childless/childfree and all i asked from one of them was a baby blanket (i cant knit or sew worth crap) and even offered to pay for the materials. She declined the offer but happily is making the blanket, its almost done, its been a year since my announcement, lol. Tbf she had seven blankets to make, five for friends and one for my nephew and one for my baby. She wanted to it all. The other one i haven’t asked for a single thing.
When I was growing up we often had aunts and uncles over for xmas dinner (people with kids lived elsewhere) and they just brought extra baking or cookies and that satisfied us kids. Entitlement is off the charts in this generation.
Honestly in-laws just sound racist. You’d be surprised how many Christian people I know it work who don’t like me and don’t want to be my friend because of my views on loving and embracing other cultures.
Tim sounds like mom and dad gave him everything he wanted and the fact his brother said no just made his envy at his life rage. Anyone who acts like childfree people should pay for their kids, genuinely dislikes having kids. They love them but they wish they didnt have them. Tim is jealous of the life his brother gets to lead while he's stuck in his monotonous life. It's his own fault for not making that life fun and exciting.
Reminds me of the story where OP’s sister kept dumping her 2 kids with her. Sister was having mental issues and later agreed to let their parents take them. But she picked OP to inconvenience out of jealousy IMO
Did Timmy have a psychotic break? He noticed his brother having a better life than him after years of favoritism and started grasping at straws trying to bring him down, maybe?
math and the learning music and science are all on the same side of the mind. most people have a side of the mind which is more developed than the other. most people in medicine had or still have ability to learn music and play an instrument
people who are bothered by "childfree people/couples" are just admiting to believe children to be some kind of prison, or something bad. They not only should NOT be parents, they also should grow up themselves
We used to do secret santa, about 41 participants, between all generations. Being single, as an adult, i would buy for everyone. Then the family decided we didnt need to do the name draw anymore. They never considered this left me out, so i stopped buying for everyone. Not sure they ever noticed or cared.
Well, now they can spend Christmas with OPs family from now on. OR Vacations at different destinations at Christmas can became the new tradition, maybe even with Dad and Theo ;)
I was already laughing at the suggestion of buying kazoos but then when you said: "no contaban con su astucia!" I cackled. It Totally caught me off guard
@@petercafrancisca4569 Darn. :-( Timmy's the type that needs to learn some serious humility. A night in a cell to cool off, a mugshot for everyone to see, can do that to a person.

Post stated that Grandparents were not hosting that Christmas. Because of this Grandparents could not stop the 'uninvite' anymore than Timmy should have 'uninvited' his brother if the Chrismas gathering was not at Timmy's house.
@@juliemcgugan1244 Only, depending on the general mindset of the congregation, they just might all be behind him in his opinions ..... at least when it comes to how often OP and Tod do or don't go to that church.
@@rithvikmuthyalapati9754 I hope the whole legal debacle screwed up Tim's life- lost job, lost standing in the community. And I'd be interested in what Tim's pastor thought if he got the whole story.
...so much for "being a good Christian", huh? I mean, throwing insults at OP and her husband and then even daring to physically attack them?! Then again, not uncommon to see these church heads going nuts and acting like thugs. The only silver lining that there might be is that husband's parents will live enough to rue treating Timmy like the golden child, but by then it will be too late to make amends with OP's husband.
Hopefully, OP and her husband will move out of state, or to Europe since OP's Dad is from Germany. OP and her husband could live anywhere in Europe especially if their jobs are remote. I think taking a break from the "Timmys" in America would be a good mental health break.
I say send a bag of coal to be distributed at Christmas to Mil, Fil, Bil, and his wife. Then, send pictures of the luxury, child-free vacation/cruise you took for Christmas. Then, quote the Tenth Commandment that prohibits coveting your neighbor's goods and let them know, as a Christian, that you were happy to save them from the sin of envy. Never show up there again.
Right?! Like as a “religious” family they should know Christmas isn’t about what material items u get and how “good” of presents u get but about family and spending time with them! And for even the husbands parents to be on their side saying it’s for the kids but them get gifts for the other adults and even have op go shopping with MIL for the SIL and never get anything for op or even their son ever?! And their way of smoothing things over was to make them bend to the asshole’s will by forcing them to agree with his story like telling the rest of the family that they said fuck in the argument and had already promised to get all the kids gifts?! Yeah that’s some strong favoritism and possibly passive aggressively punishing them for not having kids. I still can’t imagine where the BIL gets off of trying to call them out as bad Christians when he tore the family up because of his greed and envy for presents. And all the nasty things he and the parents called op, they’re not one to cast the first stone with all that judgmental! But not only that he beat up not only his brother but a woman too!? And so badly that he got arrested with husband needing stitches and her having a black eye! Yeah how “godly” of him, all cause he wanted their money and got jealous of a Roomba! Can’t believe the parents had the gall to call him after like he was in the wrong or pay his bail! I hope they kept all the nasty voicemails, texts, emails and have pictures of their injuries from him(police likely did for report & arrest) not only for restraining order but to send it all to the whole family and let them know the real them. Let them all know what a “godly” man he is and so the he, his wife and their parents are exiled from the family and future events. The family should have their own holiday party together WITHOUT them! If I was in that family and especially if I had kids I would want to know and not let my family or myself around those dangerous lunatics!
Wild story - looks like a case of the trash taking itself out. Good to be rid of such toxic people in one's life. I was going to suggest that OP and husband set up a family college fund and contribute each Christmas to that, but looking at the updates, I think the total no contact solution may be best.
Timmy's kids and most likely the cousins' kids will be doing well to finish high school. Their xenophobia as well as using their religion as a weapon to judge others doesn't exactly make them great parents to raise kids that would do well in higher education where critical thinking and an openness to listen to other viewpoints is key to success.
Even before the outcome. Family college fund? Why? That is the parents responsibility. Op and her husband are devoting their lives to volunteering, animal causes - expecting them to financially support their siblings kids is a bit crazy. They are good people who shouldn't be manipulated; they don't owe that family anything. Nowhere did they say they were wealthy; they live in an apartment.
If this family is the branch of Christian I think it is, those children are home taught and if they are allowed to go to college it will be an unaccredited bible college. People who think a woman’s worth is only how many children she can supply don’t really believe in a higher education especially not for females.
I understand Op and her husband's are not much into confrontation, but I found it incredibly stupid that the gave Tim and the rest of the family so many chances. They needed to stablish boundaries since the beginning and not let this issue brew up for so long, but they didn't and it led to Tim going full psycho and putting their lifes at risk. I'm glad OP's husband had enough and pressed charges, cuz if he hadn't, Tim would have walked away trouble free for hitting a woman in her own home.
Yeah, I am pretty sure they had them walk all over them before in other situations too for those "good religious folks" get this entitled. Some people literally think they are a god given gift to humanity when they are just nasty people. Hypocrites that only see their own benefits.
I spent years on welfare and have been on disability for years. I will be on disability for life. Which means I have no means to buy ANYONE any gifts at all. Instead, my family has been very generous to me. They understand. I live in one city, my family lives in other cities. I RARELY get the chance to see them. My roommate has included me in on her family holidays, her family has included me in their festivities. Of course due to world events there have been no family gatherings. Instead, my roommate's brother sends lovely catered holiday meals. What I'm trying to say is that for me, Christmas isn't about presents for me. It's about being with people who care about me. Its about kindness.
I do almost the same with my kitties, a cup of tea and listen to Lost Genre. It’s usually a lovely relaxing time, tonight, however, ended with the cats play fighting on my lap and me holding my half finished cup of tea in the air so it wouldn’t spill on us. The cats have claimed my seat and are now cuddled up together looking like the sweetest boys who could do no wrong. Please give your cat pets from me.

I mean...they did accuse her of being Muslim and that's basically the same as calling here non white. It's kind of like how italians and polish were not considered white in america until it was convenient. OPs skin may be white but they clearly don't consider her a member of the club.
@@melodramatic7904 yea, I was willing to overlook the Muslim comment at first, even though Muslim identity is heavily racialised, I figured since they mentioned atheists, it might just be an ideology thing. Then they mentioned refugees and the racist box was swiftly ticked. 😬
"Because *I* decided to get married and have kids, *I* decide that *I* have a right to your money." - too many married people with children towards their friends/family who are childless 🙄 And these are the same type of people who wonder why they end up in jail
Geez this one ...Tod's family is SO CRAPPY!!!! How jealous and resentful they are. It's none of their business what OP and her husband spend THEIR money on or if they have kids or not. Sickening. They're so jealous they can't even think straight.
BIL is trying to create a level of financial "fairness". Which is not a thing. Agreed that he and wife are jealous they can't go on vacations and have alone time like OP and Tom.
I haven’t listened to the entire story yet, but my theory, which isn’t really a theory because it’s obvious, is because they are upset and punishing them for not having kids. Because, Yknow, you’re selfish and not really loving if you don’t have kids. Uh okay I listened to the rest and that seems to be a tiny, tiny portion of it lol.
What upsets me is that even after all that, even after *BOTH* her husband and _herself_ being _PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED_ by her BIL, OP was _STILL_ unwilling to press charges against him. Reactions like this frankly infuriate me. I'm _SO_ glad that her husband FINALLY shined up his spine and put his foot down. Part of the reason we have so many entitled people running around is because their victims are UNWILLING to press charges and give these people consequences. I don't even understand what OP's logic here was: This guy feels entitled to THEIR money, he PUBLICLY attempted to manipulate OP and hubby into buying *15* kids gifts, he talks complete _ish_ about OP, THEN he *GOES TO THEIR HOME AND ASSAULTS both her HUSBAND* _AND_ *OP.* I'm sorry but there is NO coming back from this. Personally based on her husband's commentary of the way he has been treated versus his brother, I don't know why the two of them [OP and hubby] even stuck around year after year putting up with this crap. The brother and their parents are TRASH, but the entire reason they felt so emboldened to do this in the first place is because it sounds like neither OP nor her hubby ever put up any firm boundaries against their entitlement. I'm sorry this happened to them, but at least now they know for certain where they stand with the family, and know not to waste their time, effort and money on these selfish, entitled, people.
I'm not even Christian (debatably the furthest thing from one as I'm Pagan) and I genuinely back up Christians that want the overly consumerist nature of Christmas to end. It's exhausting, just enjoying a really big feast is all I want. And I even grew up in a family were I was the only kid for 11 years, and we all got a lot of gifts, but it's so stressful for me even *getting* that much. I'd just rather nothing 100%. Just good food and vibes, thanks.
The last update made me laugh out loud!! I’m sorry for the black eye and stitches but the brother smoking pot and dad sulking over not getting a crack at Tim is phenomenal! OP, your Christmas’s are going to be fabulous from here on out. Surrounded by those that love you and having fun. I feel badly for your husband but it’s so much better this way. I cut off one entire side of my family and all Holidays and regular days are FABULOUS! Plus, there’s so much extra money we take our older kids (mid 20’s) on great holidays! Tim is a tosser who got exactly what he deserved, Happy Christmas Timmy! 😂😂
Not the main reason I don't celebrate christmas, but a certainly a added layer to it. Around the holidays people get so stinkin greedy. Giving someone a gift bc you love them vs expecting someone to get you gift bc you think you deserve it is soooo different. Ugh.
The family you are born into doesnt mean they will always be your family, family is those who love and support you. They can be your partners family, friends, coworkers etc, blood just means the people you have to be with till you are 18, after that you’re free to leave and choose a family outside what you were born into if the blood family are crap. Be happy and start a new tradition
Agree wholeheartedly! I myself eventually went NC with a toxic brother. It's amazing how much better you feel (and stronger) after doing that. Also, I have a couple of friends that are closer to me than my family ever was.
And the "get bent" too. I had to turn away from the keyboard to spit out my tea. One of those "don't hold back, tell us what you really think" moments. Pure gold.
Actually, there seems to be a lot of these type of crazy families, and it is easy to hear about them in the news at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Only, when they are on the news, guns are usually involved. Timmy is a Golden Child who failed to launch as most Golden Children do. Because OP's husband wasn't the GC, he most likely worked for everything he has and knows how to handle his life, where as Timmy is always talking big but being small.
Well you’re being judged for not having kids which is actually none of their business. And I would just totally pass on any Christmas time with them. It’s obvious that your in-laws are judging you about not having children. For the longest time my son took his family on cruises for the holidays, and the grandkids had a blast. Since you and your husband don’t have kids go to Hawaii someplace like that just lay out on the beach for the holidays, and let them complain about that.
I would go to Germany and visit the Christmas Market in Nuremberg and have a cup of coffee at Dallmayr in Munich with some locals. Maybe even go to the Wacken Music Festival when it's going on.
Story one - loved the idea of bulk buying musical instruments off of Amazon for the kids. And then combine it with coal for the adults, and a fun trip or staycation at home for the two of you. And yes music does help with math 😉 educational
There's a great reddit story about an OP being emotionally strong armed into buying gifts for the entitled, bratty kids of the family. OP bought airhorns, silly string, and sharpies for them. Then left. Brilliant.
From the sounds of it, I'm guessing Tim and his wife are having serious financial problems but instead of asking for help outright, they demand OP and DH buy gifts for all the kids so they can pawn their own kids gifts. That's just a guess, though. But yeah. So sorry it turned out this way.
When I was working for Pizza Hut, one of my coworkers brought their bratty kids up on their day off. They rudely called me ugly and fat and I responded telling them to shut up and that they were bratty kids. Their aunt demanded I apologize and I told her to get bent. She wasn't on the clock so got told off by the RGM. Nepotism at its finest.
4:40 goddammit the way he say the name reminds me of when my grandfather was watching the show hahaha great video, great choice to put a restraining order on Timmy that guy just crossed to line just because his kids didn't gonna get a gift
The world is safe as long as OP keeps her dad in check. If she decides to unleash her father's wrath upon the world, doom shall fall upon us all and none shall survive. That's why I loved him 😂😂
What gets to me in this story is that Tim character doesn’t get all that was due to him. I neither understand OP’s reaction to his violence towards her and her husband. And it was never fully explained what motivated Tim’s hatred of OP. Did I miss something? Fascinating but strange story LG!
He did get charges and a RO. You’re right, I would have gone at Tim with a frying pan if I were OP, but some ppl don’t have it in them. If this just happened, the reason is still a mystery. Maybe Tim wants to bag OP 👀
@@VanityDivined The dude should have several charges. 1. Illegal forced entry upon private property 2. Criminal Trespassing 3. Destruction of property 4. Felonious aggravated assault.
I think what it is in my opinion for why Tim was demanding 0P and Todd to give everybody else gifts and they be gift list or not even acknowledge, is that I think Tim has the mentality of you will do what I want but I won’t even acknowledge you peasants type of attitude. It is noted that Tim is the favorite and I think that Tim just has the mentality of yeah my kids will get toys I don’t wanna pay for them so you all will do it because I have better things in my head to do and you will obey me because I am the favorite and nothing will stop it. I think that that family is just been going along with it for years and I also think that because this year it was just blatant instead of suddenly said, 0P and Todd were just done
If this story is recent, I wouldn’t be surprised if the venomous political shadow that engulfed the US over the past few years had something to do with this. The repeated posts of how “un-American” she is really drove my opinion home. I believe there was far more behind it (jealousy, entitlement, xenophobia and religious prejudice) but accusations of being “un-American” has become as common as breathing to some people. I am targeting the environment in general- not picking “sides.”
@@j_g9109 Oh I hear exactly what you’re saying. It could be influenced by that but also the fact that maybe Tim is just extremely selfish jerk that did not want to spend money on the kids and expects everybody else to so he can have his fun money

What a mean hateful family. They are truly off their rockers. I can't imagine what the hell they were thinking. I just hope OP and her husband will be just fine without that horrible group making their lives miserable. The idea that anyone has the right to tell someone else how to spend their hard-earned money is laughable. Tim needs to get a good smack by reality. The parents too could use a good dose of it since they don't seem to have done anything to teach him this valuable lesson on their own, as every good parent should.

I’m a single, child-free aunt and great aunt. I bought for all my nieces and nephews growing up, and now for their children. I show up for all holidays and birthdays, never empty handed. I barely get a birthday greeting from one side of the family. Rarely do I get a gift in return at Christmas. Sometimes I feel petty about being upset about it - because I don’t do it to get something in return. However, I’m human, and I mostly feel taken advantage of, and to not be a valuable member of this particular side of the family. There are definitely givers and takers in this world.
Little Timmy has a screw loose. Op should have sent photos of their injuries to all those people and let it sink in that dear little Timmy drove to someone's home in the middle of the night and assaulted them; cc'ing their church pastor and deacons..or whatever church people are called. Ramp it up and then leave them in the dust.
Wow, just wow! The entitlement with that one is off the charts. I'm glad they pressed charges and will have a restraining order. Also, I hope they do move out of that area.
Depending on the state this is domestic violence. I know in my home state of California if a parent, sibling, BIL,SIL attacks you it's domestic violence. THey don't have to live with you
If this is California would explain why OP stopped her dad from hitting Timmy as well. This state doesn't really care about self defense or stand your ground.
@@targetedandfiring4336 First of I can tell you have never been to this state and just hate it . California has the castle doctrine. I'm childfree, but i plently enjoy to give a lot of gifts (both to adults and kids) and not only for Christmas! The difference is that everyone is always grateful and never once ordered me to do it. Some people are really insane...better ditch them asap.
I wonder if there was ever another update on the charges and the rest of the family. The rest of the fam - the grandparents, for example - said they disagreed with Tim, so I'd like to know if OP and hubby are cool with them. But yeah, Tim and the parents gotta GO.

The best setup for Christmas If people feel like you're unequally gifting is to equally gift everyone nothing. Bring some food for Christmas and make sure everyone knows not to get you anything and you in turn are not buying anything for anyone else. Then so you're not left out on Christmas you buy each other gifts to open when everyone else opens theirs. Nobody sad, nobody left out and you still get to have a nice Christmas.

Yes I think so. He just went completely unhinged.
math and the learning music and science are all on the same side of the mind. most people have a side of the mind which is more developed than the other. most people in medicine had or still have ability to learn music and play an instrument
people who are bothered by "childfree people/couples" are just admiting to believe children to be some kind of prison, or something bad.
They not only should NOT be parents, they also should grow up themselves
I have a child free aunt that earns lot of money, we still do secret Santa so we don't have to spent that much money, this is insane
I had to google that, it was hilarious!
Yikes...I'm glad Tod is pressing charges. What a loony group of people to be related to.
Here's hoping for one more final update that comes after Timmy's court-date.
the story is few years old, no more updates
@@petercafrancisca4569 Darn. :-(
Timmy's the type that needs to learn some serious humility. A night in a cell to cool off, a mugshot for everyone to see, can do that to a person.
@@WhiteScarsEmo I hope the judge mandates timmy undergo anger management.

Seriously?
Timmy has the grandbaby card.
No one wants Timmy to go psycho on them. That's what Timmy does when you don't do what he says.
Pretty sure Timmy is hosting
Post stated that Grandparents were not hosting that Christmas. Because of this Grandparents could not stop the 'uninvite' anymore than Timmy should have 'uninvited' his brother if the Chrismas gathering was not at Timmy's house.
OP's dad was upset that she would not let Tod hit Timmy.🤣
But it's probably better for the charges, since then he can't claim self defense, since nobody hit Timmy but he assaulted two people.
Yes, looks worse on Timmy, this way. Hope he got the book thrown at him. Hope the church heard about his shenanigans, too!
No, OP’s dad was upset that she wouldn’t let HIM hit Timmy
@@srkh8966 Exactly.
@@juliemcgugan1244 Only, depending on the general mindset of the congregation, they just might all be behind him in his opinions ..... at least when it comes to how often OP and Tod do or don't go to that church.
This story proves yet again that the Golden Child grows up to be average or a screw-up/loser. In this case, Timmy is certainly the loser.
And his Christmas gift is a holiday vacation to prison
I suspect that the political situation in the US has played into this more than a little, in the last 4 years.

Wait, the cat knocked over their cups.......wow we don't deserve animals. That's awesome.
That made me cackle😂

RIGHT?
I think they might do that for Bill, since he agreed the jerk was being a jerk.
Story of my life, mostly.
Kids should mean everything to their parents, no one else is obliged to bow down to them all the time.

Geez this one ...Tod's family is SO CRAPPY!!!! How jealous and resentful they are. It's none of their business what OP and her husband spend THEIR money on or if they have kids or not. Sickening. They're so jealous they can't even think straight.
That is my opinion too. Whether or not they have children and what/who they choose to spend their money on is NO ONE'S business but theirs.
I don't even understand what OP's logic here was:
This guy feels entitled to THEIR money, he PUBLICLY attempted to manipulate OP and hubby into buying *15* kids gifts, he talks complete _ish_ about OP, THEN he *GOES TO THEIR HOME AND ASSAULTS both her HUSBAND* _AND_ *OP.* I'm sorry but there is NO coming back from this.
My family no longer "exchanges" gifts anymore---THIS is one of the many reasons why.
Never mind the story, your Spanish is spot on! It was amazing to listen to someone NOT butchering my language. Thank you!
It's his first language, too.
Not the main reason I don't celebrate christmas, but a certainly a added layer to it. Around the holidays people get so stinkin greedy. Giving someone a gift bc you love them vs expecting someone to get you gift bc you think you deserve it is soooo different. Ugh.
The brother is smoking pot and staying out of the drama.....🤣
The family you are born into doesnt mean they will always be your family, family is those who love and support you. They can be your partners family, friends, coworkers etc, blood just means the people you have to be with till you are 18, after that you’re free to leave and choose a family outside what you were born into if the blood family are crap. Be happy and start a new tradition
Agree wholeheartedly! I myself eventually went NC with a toxic brother. It's amazing how much better you feel (and stronger) after doing that. Also, I have a couple of friends that are closer to me than my family ever was.
Lmaoo your sand comment made me chuckle! That was great haha. This family is not okay
That's a good idea, and OP and her husband should post lots of pictures of them laying on the beach, or touring the island, eating great food...
I would go to Germany and visit the Christmas Market in Nuremberg and have a cup of coffee at Dallmayr in Munich with some locals. Maybe even go to the Wacken Music Festival when it's going on.
“Get bent!”

When LG rants
They also deprived themselves of presents the year before

That brought back many sweet memories 😭
When I was working for Pizza Hut, one of my coworkers brought their bratty kids up on their day off.
