Really like "how you guys roll"! 😀 I'm a former general contractor I've had a lot of experience painting with professionals and professional reps you name it... My first impression of y'all is GREAT! Thank you for the tips and tricks this is going to help me today
THANK YOU FOR THIS! 👏🏻 I sand with 150-180 wipe down; let surface dry completely Then paint with a soft angle brush then after 30 secs or so I lightly roll over the painted surface with a clean dry FOAM roller and repeat between coats For me, this method gives me pretty nice smooth finish with no brush strokes. It’s obviously NOT as smooth as sprayed on finish but it’s much nicer than brushing it on plus I avoid setting up the paint sprayer which saves me tons of time when painting stuff like trim or casing. I’m not by any means a professional. I’m just a DIYer always looking for the next best way (I very recently remodeled my 20yr old kitchen). 😉👍🏼
How do I repair chips and scratches along the bottom edge of cabinet drawers and doors. A neighbor kid drove through my kitchen with a hoverboard which was just the right height to screw up the corner edges of my cabinet fronts all along my island. I can feel the damage with my fingers, but when I kneel down I see it. What do I do? Do I need to fill these in and sand edge straight before painting. This is a brand new kitchen! Help!
Have you ever considered using a air brush for touch up,I just finished a set of cabinets for a extremely demanding customer,I bought a airbrush kit for the touch ups this week becouse I will in no way be able to brush touch up.ill see how it goes,
Hi I love your video on touch ups. I have an issue with touching up a kitchen cabinet but don’t know how to match the color I think is a whitewash kind of yellowish , how can you help me? Help!
What if you just sprayed white cabinets (2 coats oil primer, 3 coats acrylic), and someone gets dark oil based floor stain splatter on a couple doors? Is it better to sand and respray the fronts? They are small spots but should I worry about too many coats and will the color match all the others I just painted?
I cut some Ikea drawer fronts to size and want to paint the top where the MDF is exposed. I don't think melamine edging is the best solution. I'm thinking a white enamel or epoxy brushed on. What do you think?
I have a couple touch-up questions. First my bathroom cabinets have a few really small blemishes here and there, but they drive me crazy - and that’s because the cabinet is gray and there appears to be a white primer beneath. So, they standout because of this. I just bought my house so I don’t know how to best match the gray paint. In my kitchen, the cabinet doors beneath the sink have chipped and pealed paint on the top edge. I feel it’s because the paint doesn’t like water, which seems counterproductive with these being kitchen cabinets with a sink. I can see down to wood, what method and products would I need to repair this?
Aaron, the best way to match paint when you don’t know the original color code is to remove a door and take it to your local paint shop. Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore, etc will be able to scan the color and give you a *pretty* close match. I emphasized pretty because it may be 95%, not 100%. However, it should be close enough for touch ups. On the drawer front where your paint is peeling, the best solutions would be to sand down the area where the paint is peeling. Make sure to get to an area where the paint is firmly bonded to the wood, otherwise your problem will continue. You then need to prime the bare wood again. After the primer has dried, sand with very fine grit sanding block and smooth the primer out. After this, you will be able to apply new paint to the wood, and hopefully prevent the problem from getting worse. Also, make sure to check if you have an oil base paint or water based paint applied to your cabinets. If it is oil based, you will NOT be able to use a water based paint on it. To check, just dip a cotton ball in some acetone. Swab a part of the paint on the cabinets, if the paint comes off, you have water based paint. If it does not, you most likely have an oil based paint. Hope this helps.
I've seen your video on how to spray cabinets and it's very good. Do you have anything on how to paint cabinets without a sprayer? Possibly with a brush and foam roller? I'm thinking about tackling my kitchen cabinets and could use any help or advice I can get. Thanks
Steve spraying results in the most professional finish possible. With that said if you're still adamant about taking this project on get the finest paint brush and smoothest finish nap for a 6" zip roller you can get. I personally don't recommend a foam roller for someone without experience with them as uniformity issues can occur has different pressures are placed on the foam roller nap. The use of a paint extender is an absolute must for the best results with this method.
First is clean cabinets, then sand, then vacuum then shellac primer, then Cabinet Coat paint by insl-x applied with Wooster micro plush roller that's the best way I've done with a roller
I need to run an experiment but I believe latex gloves are more resistant to common painting chemicals like lacquer thinner and acetone. I love the Venom brand gloves.
What primer for cabinets do you use? Heard it was “bonding primer” from Sherwin Williams? And is the lacquer you guys apply, very scratch resistant. ? Do you ever top coat your lacquer with a clear coat?
I had a friend spray cabinets with oil base paint it came out with orange peel texture how can he get a smooth finish with air sprayer with oil base paint
who cant touch up when you have exact paint that was originally used? If you cant figure this out you are probably eating paint.... how about a video about doing touch up when you don't have the original paint? or

How do you order matching spray can lacquer ? Here at my local sherwin Williams I can't even get pigmented lacquer, only under coat lacquer

I ended up with only a couple touch ups with a artist brush.honestly never have used it at all yet,lol
I find that it highlights too much. I use foam and I thin the paint on very small nicks. Feathering the wet edge with foam is my favorite
Best walkthrough video ever..great way to start a Friday morning God bless and Shalom...
Where can I buy the lacquer based paint in the spray can that you showed in video?
Guys, so I was painting my nails and I was using nail polish remover and it made some of the paint come off 😫 I got it like 8-9 months ago😭
Looks like you kidnapped Charlie from Always Sunny to paint some cabinets!
😀

Can I use the same procedure to touch up worn out edges near cabinet door handles (white cabinets)?
I have same question. I get so many scratches near the handles.
How would you touch up a white indoor door frame where there is a lot of dog scraches?
How do you fill the top holes of the cabinet door??
Does this video’s principles apply if I am touching up older oak cabinets painted to deep blue?

How can we get the right paint on the can spray
Where does the 'Foam brush' or 'Mini Foam Roller' come in as far as touch ups?
Very useful

They use Sherwood Primer Surfacer. Its the recommended primer for the lacquer system they use.
Kyle Goodman what about the lacquer they use? What’s it called ?
@@clientesdirectos8841 Sherwood Hi Build Pre Catalyzed Lacquer.
Kyle Goodman Last time they spoke about primers they said “Bonding” primers and they use it on any substrate. Oil, water, lacquer.
@@clientesdirectos8841 The Primer Surfacer is essentially a nitrocellulose bonding primer.
Is the spray-can actually Lacquer or is it just the exact color of the laquer? Im new to this.
It's lacquer
Lacquer is not a color. It's an actual product; a natural substance diluted to be applied as a finish.
So I just clicked on the artist brush link and I can’t find them in your store... will they be available soon?
Matt Almand haha are you seriously trying to buy artist brush from them?? You can get a whole bunch all kinds of artist brushes from Walmart for 5$
Locking mechanism would be nice on that paint line stand.
What part of Idaho?
