So proud of fellow Singaporean Rui Ming. Though you are born in 1989 but you spoke with such depth, positivity, humility, sincerity and clear tripartite consideration typical of our country’s elite despite despite being financially free at this rather young age. I feel very assured that we have such mature and thoughtful soul driving a very influential platform like the wokesalaryman. It is people like you that give us in Singapore and the region a hope and future. Salute, Rui Ming!
A shout out to Peter and Minister Ong too. Thank you for such amazing curation of topics and questions for this channel. I rarely missed it because I believe in a prosperous and harmonious Malaysia like you too. A rich harmonious Malaysia is in Singapore best interest, which is why Johor’s SEZ is of paramount importance for us bilaterally. I sincerely hope many more moderate Malaysians will tune in and support! Please click like and subscribe!

I like how despite been asked some leading questions to amplify the positives about Singapore, Rui Ming was honest in his answers by sharing the challenges faced in his own country.

Regarding 'financial freedom', i think till nowadays most ppl still failed to realise that it is not only achievable thru improving income, but also thru managing expenses / expectations

Yes, discipline go a long way. Simply look at America glamorous late Singer Whitney Houston vs. Madonna who knows how to tough it out even her worse times in NYC.

Having just returned from there, was there for Trevor Noah Stand-up, I do agree with this young Singaporean guest that a touch of Zen will do Singapore good. There is a sagacious saying to paraphrase, the universe is both, orderly and chaotic. When you think of Singapore, you think of social order, political stability and a robust economy. With a first world status comes materialism and consumerism. And there is always a certain price to pay when we are pursuing luxury status and maintaining it. Not only Singapore youths, even our youngsters ought to ponder on the priorities in their lives. The choices they make now, determines the quality of life in future. Start with small decisions like “do I have to change my iPhone every time there is a new version is out in market or worse still every year”. I just bought an IPhone after using my old since 2018. Not because I wanted to buy a new one out of choice, but the battery of my old phone was failing.😅
    Just my 2 sens.

Thank you for interviewing The woke salaryman! They have just been around for a few years but had been putting out really good content for the public. I do believe people need to be more financially literate.

I love this episode, and I grew up with both Mr Money and Woke Salaryman! Helps that the founders are around the same age as me. Hope to see y'all collaborate more and more!

Thanks for this episode, really enjoyed it! To Peter's point @21:30 SG fresh grads buying watches, I observe this trend among Singaporean males in their 30s in banking jobs: collecting pieces from Rolex, AP and PP (and flashing them) which I find quite amusing... (I just look at the phone to see the time)

In its modern-day, politicised context, 'woke' is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as 'originally: well-informed, up-to-date. Now chiefly: alert to racial or social discrimination and injustice'. The Urban Dictionary, meanwhile, explains that 'being woke means being aware…Woke is a political slang adjective derived from African-American Vernacular English (AAVE) originally meaning alertness to racial prejudice and discrimination. Beginning in the 2010s, it came to encompass a broader awareness of social inequalities such as racial injustice, sexism, and denial of LGBT rights.

@@tengfs Not really, MY has been fine for past decades from the 80's till early 2000 to rapidly grow and the world is big. World GDP is US$100tn, Malaysia is US$450bn and SG is also about there or slightly higher. The world is Malaysia oyster, and Malaysia via hubs like KL, Penang are well-positioned for the future.
There's no bloody need to talk SG. Maybe once every 6 months. That's all. They are just like any other country in ASEAN. No big deal.

I hope your program will get more spicy by inviting some Malaysian politician from the govt or from the opposition party to talk about the current policy and the future road map. I was watching this program from the start and starts to feel it is getting boring bcos it seems like it is avoiding to go in depth to talking about the issues. I often sees OKM starts to advise may be govt should do more communication and etc, which i think it is not necessary as you are no more in the job. And the present Minister will always think You try to tunjuk pandai. The discussion should focus on the policy itself (by explaining it) or impact of the issues. Example: we keep on hearing diesel usage increase since covid but we have not seen any data on usage between states and East and West Malaysia. By drilling those data and help publich to understand what is the real issue.

"...if you are in Malaysia you probably get knocked down" says it all about the mentalitybof the person. Such negative perception of his own country.
Every day you can see banglas cycling to work on their bicycles on our dual carriageway roads in irban areas and none gets knocked down. You hear any malaysian pedestrians getting knocked down every day? None.
