A documentary musical film based on real historical events, embodying the idea of honouring the memory of the victims of missile bombings, which became a great tragedy for the city of Zaporizhzhia in 2022.
This musical piece consists of six parts, each corresponding to one of the six locations in Zaporizhzhia that suffered from missile attacks. The duration of the musical piece is six minutes, reflecting the duration of a real SOS signal.
Filming took place precisely in these affected locations, giving the project a personal sound and atmosphere. Representatives of all Christian churches were involved in the film's creation, organizing a large memorial service for the souls of the deceased and preparing official lists of their names. The departed were individually prayed for in all the city's churches.
Project participants used musical instruments that also suffered from missile strikes, and the soundtrack was created from audio materials from the "Sounds of War" project. The film was produced in the premises of a music store, which itself became a target of bombing. Project participants were directly involved in history, experiencing the consequences of military actions personally.
"Requiem. SOS Zaporizhzhia" is not just a musical piece but a testimony of events and a memorial to those who became victims of war. This film opens the soul of the city and its residents, imbuing deep meaning into the art of music.

Project participants sincerely express condolences to the relatives and loved ones of those who died in the war. A panikhida (memorial service) was organized and held by representatives of Christian churches for the souls of all people who died as a result of missile bombings in our city.
We thank the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the opportunity to continue living and hope for the approaching end of the war and the post-war revival of our native Zaporizhzhia.

Requiem (Latin Missa pro defunctis or Latin Missa defunctorum) is a funeral requiem mass in the Roman Catholic Church and a musical genre written in the form and on the texts of the funeral mass. Traditionally, in the Catholic Church, where worship was conducted in Latin, the text of Requiem, except for Kyrie eleison, was also composed in Latin. The word "Requiem" literally means "rest" and comes from the initial words of the entrance (Introit) - Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine ("Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord"), which comes from the apocryphal 4th book of Ezra. In Orthodox churches, a similar concept is the panikhida, but the latter significantly differs from the Requiem in form.
