Thanks for visiting my booths and buying the orange glass candlestick. That's my booth 20...it makes me happy to hear it's one of your favorites! I'm also booth 36 that has the black Haeger pieces and art glass. I appreciate you showcasing some of our pieces. Thanks ! - Chad
Chad! I remember meeting you at Goodwill. I knew you had the first booth but I could never figure out which booth was your other. Figures it would be another that I LOVE. We have similar tastes. ☺️
@@CrazyLampLady we certainly do have similar tastes and the funny thing is, we shop at a lot of the same places. The one place I haven't gone to yet that's been on my list for some time is Roller Mills...and after seeing your shopping trip I definitely want to go!
Is the Weeping Buddha yours? Would you send to Toronto, if so? I would, of course, pay post. Thanks!
WithMetta no sorry, it's not mine.
@@inaretrodaze Thanks for replying! :0) That black bowl is gorgeous!
Anyone else feel like a family thanks Jocelyn? Every time I watch one of her videos I feel like we are a bunch of relatives coming together daily to watch what she finds and cheer her on!
🙋
Yes absolutely 😍👍
Hi Sis!
Hunched Over Man is a 2020 survivor.
He's very symbolic of the current times.
If we all did not collect different things and have passion for saving things, none of us would be able to find our treasures. It is in our differences that we learn about each other and touch others.
Agreed! I’m thankful that my “things” might not have as much competition as some things might. I go for vintage mugs/glasses and different glass and tchotchkes and I have very good luck with reselling stuff for the most part. If everyone else liked the same stuff as me in the stores I wouldn’t be able to find as many treasures as I do!!
The "ugly face" cup is an egg separator! Crack your egg and pour! The yolks stays in the cup. The whites come out his mouth. A necessity for angel food cake bakers!
A carved wooden bunny.
Do not hesitate.
Keep him/her forever,
The artistry❤️
Glad you took the carved rabbit; that's a lot of work for only $20. Well done.
Love that too!
I agree with Janet. You are certainly an asset for UA-cam. I eagerly await your videos everyday. Thanks for all your hard work.
The small "mug" with the open mouth is an egg separator
Really? Good to know!
How in the word did you know that?
@@lifeandhomewithmeredith9050 My mother had one similar to it many years ago.
That’s what I thought too 🤔💭 Funny, today I got a unique egg separator at my local thrift store (DI)
Pottery with face and open mouth is an egg separator. Crack egg inside pour out egg whites through mouth.
Kinda gross when you think about it.
Thanks for telling!
I was about to suggest the same. I had one and it worked pretty well. :-)
I think so too. I have a 'Mr. Sniffles' and the egg white pours out the nostrils! My grandson-7 now -had to carry it back and forth with him. Kid should have feathers, he ate so many eggs!
@@lavonnemay5586 LOL
I enjoy watching your channel so much. I believe the little Jar with the face on it is an egg white/yoke separator. You crack an egg and into the top and tilt the head and the egg white will come out of his mouth and the yoke stays in. I have one similar to that one. Happy thrifting!!! BTW....I absolutely LOVE the carved bunny. So glad you bought that one.
The weeping Buddha takes away the grief and troubles of the world. In return, he bestows peace and provides strength to those who places their hands on his back.
Boy, do we need that right now or what?
Hey Jocelyn I was thinking about that haeger bowl. If u stand it up in a plate rack and put some of ur smaller bright pieces in front like yellow or blue. That would be stunning backdrop. Who says it has to lay flat and be functional. It’s art and it can still make u happy.
“We’ve got Benjamin Franklin here...” I’m yelling “Mozart!” Then Jocelyn responds..”oh, Mozart!” Lol! Made me chuckle...
The Toledo sword/letter opener is from Toledo Spain where they make Damascene jewelry like the sword.
That’s important information , that was a nice piece. To nice to be from Toledo, Ohio was my thought.
@@lindamcnamara7803 I was supposed to go to Ohio in April 2019. I was surprised at how much art and culture was in Toledo, especially glassware.
I have one, just like it.
The mark on the red jar is called a straw mark from the maker.
That teardrop paperweight with the layered colors is was sold at Hobby lobby. I have one got it for 50% off. Which we all know they put that sale on all the store for one area or another. I paid under 10 dollars for it. So good call not picking up for resale. You have a good EYE. Gigi
I have noticed every time you see a painting you love they always have trees in them 99% of the time they have trees in them love your show
I really like how you can identify glass makers and signature shapes so easily - I guess that comes from a long time experience handling and valuing glassware! You cause me to have more interest in learning more! Thanks!
I love the pretty painting because it is so calming and peaceful of old world lifestyle. I would have to fight over who would buy it with my hubby if we came across the painting since it had actually caught both of our attention. I will buy paintings that calls to me and my hubby who is artist loves beauty and quiet simplicity of the painting. I will visit my Mom every year down in Florida. I will bring back home paintings as my souvenirs.
When i lived on one of the gulf islands my mom would get about 30-33 california quail at her feeder every day and they would bring teiir babies with them. I wanted to hold one but they are wild and so we would just enjoy looking at their behavior while eatting. The mothers are so protective of their babies. Beside quail being my favourite bird i also love humming birds and owls.
Gulf Islands off Vancouver? I live on Whidbey Island!
@@ginap5003 saltspring Island
I'm on the Central Coast of California and we have quail out and about. Mostly, you see them running across the back roads, trying to keep up with Mama. They are so adorable.😄
@@ginap5003 its off Vancouver Islsnd, a 20 minute ferry ride from Swarz bay. Its the largest of the gulf islands
@@CariMachet if you are talking about saltspring island its the largest of the gulf islands.
I'm glad you guys go junkie my kids won't let me go shopping started in March because I'm 71years so I watching New and old videos I enjoy you Jeff barb misty and everyone else thanks again
The crack may have been a straw mark. With depression glass a lot of the pieces were tipped out into straw bins to cool and sometimes the straw burned into the glass causing a superficial crease. They are called straw marks actually. Those and bubbles in the glass give the depression glass character and do not detract from the value
Is it Takahashi glass?
At 13:08 when she says “this cow has seen things “ I laughed so hard. Not sure why it tickled me so deep. But I definitely chuckled....loudly. 😂
Love the pottery Japan hanging pot! Unusual finds! Great!
"Decoration purpose only"
Lol!!! What else would one do with it???
Absolutely loved the fragile glass candle. Just imagine if those clocks chimed. Lol
if you carried a magnifying glass that is on a chain around your neck or clipped to your blouse you might be able to read these markings on glass
The little wooden crying man is called a “weeping buddha”. He supposed to take all your worries off of you. It made me sad to look at when I received one as a gift and had to put him out of sight.
I can use a couple dozen of them right now
I just saw him and about a dozen more in a hippie store in Cleveland. Gave me a visceral reaction too
They can actually be really valuable. They tend to be very expensive new
I really love that antique store
Cow creamer day... I like how each one you grabbed was just a little larger than the one before. Looked like cow creamer stair steps
Okay, you really need to start naming your videos similar to Friends episodes. “The one where she buys the knock off purse” or “The one where she finally finds Fire and Ice”. 😂 That way it would be so much easier to find the videos you refer to. 🤣 Love your videos!
I’m not really opposed to this idea.
You had a hard time , back and fourth on the Hager bowl and vase. You put me on the edge of my seat.
I loved all of the ticking clocks! Thanks for taking us with you today! You have become part of my morning coffee talk!
Perfectly said , feel like I’m on a adventure. Joslyn has a way to make us feel like she’s taking you along .
Jocelyn, thank you for sharing. I really enjoy looking at the antique malls .
The face jug reminds me of The Kaw Valley Mercantile in Topeka Kansas. I used to have a lot of things from that store but a divorce and missing boxes.... well you get the gist of it
I have recently cleared a lot of my mothers items and I kept the Nun cookery jar for my kitchen...( mum and I loved the Nun). seeing the Monk cookery jar made me so pleased you liked him too..
I like the painting too....it reminds me of simpler times, and it's one of those paintings I would just like to jump into!👵...border collies are great dogs, smart and friendly!
The carved bunny looks like a Cypress knee (a Cedar stump from the swamp). Very little carving required. The artist went with the natural shape and did some detail on head.
The wooden hunched over man is an idol. You saw one side of him and there's usually at least one other idol incorporated into the wood. I could never find more than the one figure.
A little bit about the weeping Buddha... It is believed that he takes away the grief and troubles of the world. In return, he bestows peace and provides strength to those who rub his back :-)
Like the pieces you chose. From watching you and the other ladies, I feel like I have a degree in recognizing pieces when I go thrifting. Thanks😊
I loved the craved, wooden, 'weeping' man
Oh, those netsuke? netsuki? carved "weeping Buddha" or yogi can fetch quite a lot, even $45 for a small one like that
Is that what he is?! I knew there must be some significance! Thank-you for sharing.
I love the spider glass drinkware!
Hi Jocelyn, I had an Australian Shepard named Molley she also lived 17 years we lost her in 2014 she was given to me by a friend when she was 6 weeks old if you ask me these dog breeds are the best we will never replace her, and yes I love the painting also, thanks for sharing
That rabbit is carved from a cypress knee.
I agree Robert . Growing up in Louisiana it's pretty easy for me to spot one
@@melissamayeaux6501 ,🤗
The painting is done in the American Primative or Naive Style. It needs to be cleaned and the flaking be repaired. When done and providing its real, it's worth can easily be increased by 10 times, possibly more.
That sounds like it would be worth trying ... it would be great to save a nice artwork like that ...
How much would matching and retouching the paint cost for something like that?
@@matthewwisdom6832
Couple hundred to start which is why it needs to be appraised first. It doesn't always have to be a known artist either. The style, colors and brushwork are important also. At a glance though, I would think that the painting is worth doing a little research.
Good Morning. The ugly face cup is meant to be an egg separator. Love your videos!!!
I so enjoy seeing the antique stores, I've missed a few of your videos, I need to go back and watch them.
I agree with the clocks in that booth I couldn’t shop in there for very long I would be worried that all the alarms would go off at the same time🤪♥️
Ohhhh are those seals with whiskers otters?! I love otters! Those swizzles are cute. I never find swizzle sticks here
Yes, they looked like otters to me, too.
The bunny i think is a moon gazing hare 😍
I'm so happy you got the carved wooden bunny!
Cheers to you. Always promoting other store holders, buyers and sellers, and always have something nice to say about people’s art work even if it’s crap👍 l like that
Wellll. Sometimes I don’t film if I can’t find something nice to say. 😂
the "seal shakers" are actually Sea Lions. Sea Lions have ears and can prop themselves up using the front flippers.
In my community, there's a thrift store where proceeds benefit hospice. I like to donate and buy there. If they can't sell a donated item, they do have Goodwill pick it up for their store.
I am LOVING that whole selection of Viking glass. Really wish we had stuff like that in Vancouver.
Me too, on Whidbey Island!!!
Me three Seattle
O bought a purse in $1 sack sale at 2nd hand, got it home, a tumi,$275 price tag still on it. Got 2 Llardos for .25 each, worth $85 each. $1 Korean vase, worth $99.
I am amazed that you are only making the video into two parts !! That place is HUGE !!! 😆😆😁😁 We were just there . So , it is so much fun watching this video !! Thanks !!!!
I think I have watched every single one of your videos!! Love to watch the with my morning coffee!
I look forward around this time to see where were going and what we’re going to see.
I know there’s lot of us that grab a coffee and watch you.
Me too! ☕☕☕
Good morning Jocelyn! Love this shop and all the possibilities 😊
I love that orange candlestick holder!!
10:10 my parents have such a wooden sculpture. There are quite a lot of those. It took my childhood to figure out what it depicted. Or I never paid attention to it and thought it was a strange form. (Weeping Buddha)
Love the cow creamers!!!
I have never noticed a cow creamer anywhere ever in my life (I’m 55) and now I see them all the time on YT reseller videos! Was I just not paying attention before? It’s quite possible - until I discovered reselling, I rarely spent time thrifting just to look at things. I have a small house & we always lived on a tight budget - so now learning to resell is like nearly completely the opposite !! LOL funny how life turns out ...
Toledo is in Spain. They are known for brass inlay stuff.
The Rabbit is awesome!
I hope you tube appreciates you...your videos are so amazing and awesome!!!
Aw! Thanks, Janet! I hope they do, but I'm sure I'm just a tiny fish in the big sea. Haha.
You tube recently sent me a survey about your channel. I clicked on all the positive descriptors. Inspiring, informative, interesting, uplifting are just a few that I remember.
Aww! Thank-you so much! 🤗
I have an ugly face egg separator that looks a lot like that ugly face pottery thing. Mine has a hole in his nose for the egg white to come out. Yep, kinda gross to look at, but it separates the egg.
Hahaha. So gross!
I was at the Emmitsburg mall just before Christmas! Fun to see what you noticed.
I think the wooden bunny is a "moon-gazing hare", which is a Japanese "thing".
I love moon gazing hare things!
The monk looked so happy!
It’s a “weeping Buddha “
Hi Joc! If you go back there grab that mini sword for $2. They are from Toledo, Spain not Toledo, Ohio. They sell for $18-$35 on Ebay right now. I had one 4 yrs ago that sold for $45 but comps seem a bit lower now. Good luck!
Im sorry. I should have said "consider buying the mini sword" lol. I didn't mean to sound bossy. I just saw a great profit margin for you!
I think your faced mug is an egg separator.
Love the red jar, so glad you took it.
Great Snyder’s think alike..!
They really had some beautiful glass vases and etc!!!!👍
I just make up names of historical figures and throw them out there and hope I’m right. LoL 😆
I think Andrew may have rolled his eyes at her guess though?
I especially enjoy the vendors that are knowledgeable of their glass and identifying it.
I really enjoy your video’s. Thank you so much. 💜
Loved the quail. I used to have a pet quail I raised from an egg.
I used to have two booths at the Emmitsburg Antique Mall. Love that place. Used to live in Emmitsburg and had to move away for my full time job.
🦋The Japan piece is nice for a macramé, hanger. Friar Tuck in Robin Hood movies. That makes me want an Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie. Okay, I have to make them now. That painting had a lot of scratches.
Love the sword from Spain!
I loved the blue cow creamer
time-4:03 brown and tan canisters w/lids, painted fruit on them are McCoy.
I am so addicted to shopping with you!
Air ]plants. Can also sit in containers
This is awesome!
I like the painting. The lady is surrounded by animals! But the Italian vase is really my style!
Love shopping with you and glad you pay for it. Lol i never know when your live. Did yiu know how many people cant shop at goodwill. They are handicap no electric carts. So sure tgey enjoy you take them around with you. I collect christmas mouses..
8:54 is a Wedgewood glass bunny. I have one in orange and that is a great colour! They sell for £25 over here in the UK.
Awesome haul!
Black and white go with everything. It rests the eyes, makes a nice contrast, and brings out the colors of objects next to it. I wish you had bought that bowl.
So glad I watched this video. You picked up a figurine and mentioned Rio Hondo. It resembles a bear and dog that I have, but had no clue of their maker. I looked up, and sure enough I have two Rio Hondo pieces. Thank you!
The face "mug" is an egg separator. Hence the slit at his mouth. The yolk stays inside while the other parts slips out!
That Toledo sword letter opener is worth >$25.
The pottery face reminds me of one I bought at a craft show several years ago. It was sold as an egg separator and I've used it for that. Also, the sword letter opener is probably a souvenier piece; however, it was probably manufactured in Toledo, Spain, where they have produced swords for years.
