- This is the music that you hear when you're in your room. The one with the computer, medals, trophies and stuff.
Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance was published by LucasArts and developed by Totally Games in 1999.
Originally composed by John Williams
Music edited for X-Wing Alliance by Michael Land and Clint Bajakian
Whenever I check my email, I have this song playing in my head.
+Brandon Shaffer haha
@brandonthesteele Hey, I saw you on a Boards of Canada video. Small world.
I like that they can travel faster than light but still listen to circa 1940 records.
I've had the song at 2:04 stuck in my head for the past 15 years. Finally figured it out.
Me too! I've had this song stuck in my head and could hum it perfectly for the last 15 years, but I had no idea where it came from. Until now. Does this mean we are Cylons?
SuperDocJack
Well although I'm not a little girl drawing pictures of it, or Katie Sackhoff playing it on the piano, the fact that i understood your reference probably means we really are Cylons... Shit...
dehgoh
There are worse fates.
+Dann Smoove Definitely not. It's been the same for me as well. Only difference is I knew exactly where it came from but couldn't find any way to find the music again till now.
+dehgoh i think theres enough of us now to start a support group
Always thought this just added immensely to the vibe of the game. Made it feel like you're a WWII fighter pilot in off time listening to tunes from home. Of course with WWII dogfighting footage being the inspiration for space scenes in SW it's perfectly suited.
Seeing this sure makes me want to do Il-2 Sturmovik: 1946/Complete Edition again (mostly since Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe, made by the same people as the X-Wing games, is unfortunately abandonware nowadays).
@@michaelandreipalon359 More like Jane's WWII Fighters from way back in 1998. It has menu screens that's like a virtual tour of a museum, and the same kind of background music gets played.
@@Avantime Alas, also abandonware far as I'm aware.
@@michaelandreipalon359 na the il2 mod community going strong
fart fart fart fatt fart
2:04
Hmm, what are SW games you played then?
I like to hear this while walking around my YT-2400 on SWG Legends. I decorated my personal quarters to resemble Ace's room with the random trophies and a bunk built snug into the wall.
Why i keep listening to this? Always gets me nostalgic :(
its prolly the fun jingle from 1:01 to 1:23
I feel you man. Remember playing this on a sick day back in kindergarten. It's another world which only exists as a memory.
wow this brings back memories!
Some nostalgia when listening to this.
I always felt horrible when I was a kid when I got in from a mission and the music at 2:04 came in when I lost a wingman or members of my flight. Looking at the medals I got just made me feel like shit when I only survived by running away.
2:02 = best! childhood in the main menu :D
I played this game in 2001. I'm really nostalgic of this time. The game had a very big playability for its time with a HUGE variety of (flyable) ships. Nowadays when I play to XWA, it doesn't age - it's a bit old but God it's still gold. No SW game was as complete as this one. It was the most complete space simulation game in the galaxy and still is a great title.
Nothing compared to the Rogue saga and the Starfighter duology. And I have high doubts about SW:Squadrons that will be released this year. Yeah, definitely gonna play XWA again and again.
Then I'll easily recommend the Upgrade mod for it.
DEFINITELY get the X-wing alliance upgrade mod, and possibly the TIE fighter reimagined mod to go with it. They're both amazing.
I"m SO HAPPY someone uploaded this.
i play this song in the background when i'm on my ship in SWTOR lol
I think the first song was also played in The Phantom Menace game in a Mos Espa cantina.
Max Eisenhardt It was.
+Max Eisenhardt Thanks! Now i have to play this game, too :)
Indeed, and still we don't know how are they called, or who plays them in the Star Wars universe.
Gotta love seeing the increasing number of souvenirs, medals, and rank over the course of the game.
Will see how TIE Fighter Total Conversion's Reimagined campaign take will match by the time it's all finalized.
I didn't know John Williams made this tune too :P I love this music, when I first played the game I thought I remembered it as the cantina music from Episode IV, then I realized it wasn't. But it certainly sounds like something the Modal Nodes would play.
Been whistling this song for years had to find it
I cant get enough from this sound!
idk why nobody has done a remake of this amazing game
There are some fan-made successors in the works:
-Fate of the Galaxy (based on Freespace 2)
-Star Wars: The Original Trilogy Mod (also based on Freespace 2)
-Star Wars: Squadrons (not to confuse with "SW: Attack Squadrons")
Check out X-Wing Alliance Upgrade Project, and the TIE Fighter Total Conversion!
What Nell Watson said.
Ha! Me too! I got the game when I was six but I didn't beat it until I was a teenager.
this brings back a lot of memories i wish i could find my joystick so i can play this game again. i never got into the story probs cuz i was so young haha but i loved skirmish n controlling the space battles
best game! thanks for posting!
2:02 seems really weird/creepy when listening to it as a 25 year old and not a 10 year old.
I could read spam mail to this.
Mon enfance en ambiance ❤🎉
The Song at 2:04 reminds me a lot of the first track from "Simon the Sorcerer"

Back when Star Wars games were amazing... Before the dark times...
Might I suggest the star wars interworlds mod for X4 Foundations. That's what's scratching my itch rn and boy howdy is it a good one.
@@funfsinn14 Holy moly, I never even KNEW about this one! Great suggestion, Man! Thank you!
Before the TCW 2008 era onwards.
Literally 4/7 of the new games are amazing.
@@orbaitv5991 Yea, if you never experienced the heyday of LucasArts...
the first song on here can be heard on the dukebox on the old republic (mmo)
heh I just started replaying XWA
Has anyone done a 'higher quality' version of this (I realise this is the original audio as it's supposed to be!)
This game is compatible on 64-bit computers with a 3rd party 64bit installer patch. go download it now!
However, there are issues when using 3D-accelerated graphics in conjunction with Geforce cards, so in this case you'll either have to go without 3D-acceleration and the XWAUP-models or use a Radeon card.
Does this song exist as something outside of the game and if so what I it titled?
Been trying to figure this out myself. So far, no luck. Anyone else?
Can you send me a link with this song on mp3 ???

Btw, they wrote a lyrics for these tunes at 2:04. And guess who is the character in one of these melodies they sing about!
Jürgen Kraise They sing of Jar Jar! Who helped in our war!
Loved Yoda’s Challenge as a kid

How did you extract the music? I've looked, and I've never found the appropriate file extensions. Please let me know, if you're willing. And, thanks for posting these.
Falchion1984 I found a program called SCUMM Revisited and used that to convert the game files into standard wavs.

I haven't been able to find a working download, since WinZip claims the archived I have found were empty. I'll keep at it, though. Thanks for the info, and catch you later.

I took a second look for SCUMM Revisited, and it paid off. Thanks much for the info, and catch you later.

Why can I click like on your comment only once :(
this game was great and its a shame that noone else played it. but i guess not because then the fanbase would be like halo or cowwadoody
