I can relate as a fellow car enthusiast. I understand the mix of emotions that come with parting with your current car and embarking on the journey of acquiring a new one. It truly requires a significant amount of courage. I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing more of your content regarding the new car project. Cheers man!
Thanks! I’m really glad that I don’t feel to bad about it. Since I truly feel like I’ve done all there is to do with the discovery on my end. And rather sell it in its glory for someone else to enjoy, than let it become used up!
Nice vehicle! After a decade of 109" Series 3 ownership and about 80,000 miles on the road, may I suggest considering carefully the quality of available parts whilst improving and maintaining your vehicle. It's well worth spending out for genuine, new old stock parts in many cases, especially where reliability is important. Not the easiest of vehicles to own and maintain but well worth it.
About 10 years ago i bought an ex-army 1970 Series 2 and converted it into a camper. Its still going strong (OK rebuilt engine, brakes, gearbox diffs...). Its great fun to drive (at 45mph) very reliable (so long as its serviced weekly) and sleeps myself and my son in almost no comfort. We love it and go away at every opportunity. Its amazing what you can fit in, we have a diesel heater, sink, toilet and stove plus 2 bunks. A recent addition has been cargo racking on the sides to lash stuff on outside to free up some (any) floor space. Someone once looked at it and said "Its Tetris camping" : }. They are right, put one thing in the wrong way round and you either have to pull it all out again stand on one foot. My advice - take your time with your build, a lot of ideas don't work the way you imagine and keep it simple. Shop for ideas you can copy and make everything yourself, if it doesn't work cut it up and start again! If you really run out of space get the matching army trailer, they are equally tough but your speed on hills will be 20 mph!! (They are called Sankey Trailers). The Series is rated 3/4T cross country and the trailer another 3/4 ton cross country. We cut side lockers which makes a lot of extra space.
What i love about this channel is its simplicity, My channel was going well until i made it over complicated, Now its a failing channel that i'm trying so hard to pull back, I'm actually so glad that i found this channel has its making me want to go back to my roots, Simple basic videography, Thanks brother...

Living the Land Rover dream. I’d trade my 98 Disco for a Series 2 or 3 in a heartbeat. A new build is always exciting. I saw the photos of the Series 3 on Patreon. The only vehicle I’d think was cooler would be either a Forward Control LR or a Volvo C303. We don’t have very many here in the US.
I own a 1990 N/A Diesel Defender truck. These vehicles are gems from the past. One advice: You could have a sliding window at the back of the truck to the right. You would have better visibility while going backwards on reverse gear. It helps in crowded areas.
About 1,5 years ago, i came for the Discovery but stayed for Kasper. I really felt in love with your "pizza in a land rover" video and everything afterwards. My heart is bleeding about the Disco but I am really looking forward to follow you on your journey. Best regards from Hamburg
That green color actually looks pretty good with all the greenery around. If you want a bright color, you can also paint the car bright yellow or sky blue, I bet this would also look good in the nature.
Only in a Series Land Rover it's just simply a way life. I'm The proud original owner of a 1957 Series 1 diesel, and a 1965 Series 2A 109 station wagon. Even with their quirks, they're still the best. They've never let me down, and have always brought me home under their own power. Greetings from the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND FLORIDA.
I have a 1982 109 County. Good luck with the build, the mechanics and electrics are simple enough, a lot will depend on how much you want to change up. An overdrive and power steering are worthwhile driving improvements. If the power steering stops working, the steering will still work so it won't strand you, a bolt on ram system is as simple as it gets and will make a big difference if you're running bigger tyres.
Beautiful car Kasper! The Series (1-3) Land Rovers have a lot of style and beauty that (sadly) seems to have been lost in the newer models. It's amazing that you could buy it at such a good price, nevermind the work it takes to get it "finished", the journey looks promising! Can't wait to see more of your build and adventures. Also, I am actually very interested in how you will make it "winter proof" (insulation, heater, starter...), lots of things to think about! Cheers!
Congratulations and many luck as well patient times. I'm finishing now exactly the same, an 109 for the same proposal, travel and photographing. Hope to make my first travel on end of this month. Cheers
Congratulations Kasper! very beautiful and I am sure it will even be more beautiful after what the exciting builds on your list. We all look forward to it.
Can't wait to see what you do with this one, loved your D4 but can understand the desire to have something more rugged and customisable for sure. Also, it's crazy to me that you got this one that cheap, here in Sweden all the series land rovers and defenders are over 10,000€ unless broken/ project vehicles!

I have an 88” Series 3 and will be living out of it shortly, but need to fix up sooo many things with it first. It looks like you have bought yourself a really good base to build on!
I'm glad the downpour of comments on your previous video which preposterously claimed the Discovery is your identity, didn't change your plans. This will be a very interesting build to follow and I'll be taking notes to apply to a simple camping build for my Chevy Suburban.
Love it. I have an ex military S3 stage 1, set up for short term living. Absolutely agree with the drives like a tractor comment, but that’s part of their charm. Can’t wait to see this adventure unfold.
This is so cool. I think you’ve chosen the reliable and cost effective solution. My wife and I own a 1981 series 3 petrol 88”. It’s our only car and it’s never let us down. When you maintain the series Land Rover properly it’s so cheap to run. The parts are cheap and the work can be done with simple tool setup. Skål from Copenhagen, Denmark 🇩🇰 and “god vind” as we say here 🤙🏼 Look forward to following your journey ahead. It just got a tad more interesting! 🇬🇧
I really wanted a 88” but I couldn’t justify loosing all the space for the fact that it’s just way cooler haha 😂 thanks a lot! Probably driving down trough Denmark some time when winter gets to bad up here!
Now this brings back memories. Other than comfort I don’t think the discovery has any real benefits over the old land rovers. Keep it simple. Enjoy 🙏🏴😀
Sad to see the familiar disco go, but glad to see you stuck with landrover! Very excited to see how this turns out, it looks fantastic! But to be honest doing as many miles as you do in a car that spartan to drive, sounds like a real chore! I love my '87 110 to death but going from a modern car to that is so much more taxing to drive! Best of luck mate!

Your videos are a great inspiration and to see a series as the method of travel now gives me all kind of a buzz. One thing to watch is overdrives are inherently noisy, and need a bit of maintenance to remain quiet if you get one that is. Mine has the 2.5 N/A Diesel (now that is a tractor engine lol) which I'll be fitting Range Rover classic differentials to when I'm back home (as well as a turbo for a bit of extra push) from working abroad as well as a few other things, I'll drop you a message if you want to update on how it goes and pick your brains about a few things camera related if you don't mind. This chapter in your channel will be an interesting one. I look forward to the experiences that you will share with your viewers. Sad to see the Discovery go, yet life needs us to develop. Will be waiting for the next video. Cheers.
Hey Kasper! A 88" Series III was my first car when I was 20 y/o... a diesel one, and I say that, because if you say yours is 10 times worst than the Discovery 4, imagine a diesel... your is quieter and by the way sounds great!!!... some sound deadning first and then do the rest as a camper to keep yourself warm and comfy inside... and enjoy life!!
well i agree, its a very cool 81’. Will be a shame to see the disco go but i am very much looking forward to seeing the build come along on the new car. i can imagine the extra space in the back was a big selling point for you. Great vid as always 🤙
Laying flat and being able to go from the seat to the bed (dividing wall in the disco because it’s registered as a van) was a huge win! Plenty of things I’ll miss in the disco, but this is a blank canvas and definitely more of an adventure 😂🤌
As an 85 Defender (technically Land Rover 90) owner who daily’s it. Make sure the basics are covered: cooling, brakes, ball joints, wheel bearings, UJs/props, and suspension..those will get you 90% of likely repairs. Also recommend waxoyling before the winter. I also recommend buying a battery jump starter if you don’t already. Fun trucking! Slow and steady will still make it to the finish line :)
Cheers! Im planning on doing a sheepfat coating (seeps into the rust) some time soon. And even though the brakes are good, I’m planning a full overhaul because safety. All the other bits is also getting some love soon! It has 75000 km on the clock, but living trough a war and ten years in Norway does not help the poor thing 😂 but it’s been stored inside most of its life in Norway at least!
@@kasperhoglundI've driven a lot of them in the military, and also delivered them across UK. I absolutely hate them! 😂 Ultra noisy, draughty, extremely slow and shakes you to bits on a smooth 🛣️ road. Long journeys are very unpleasant. The engine is unreliable. The useless windscreen wiper, the clunky gearbox, the lack of decent aircon, no decent radio or satnav, the terrible suspension and overall tractor 🚜 like experience when driving one. They remind me of rattling along the road in a tin can. Even off-road I much prefer diving and living fulltime in a decent SUV. But that of course is just my personal opinion. I know the old military tin can on wheels offers cheap initial buying price...but I find that they end up costing far more in maintenance and conversion costs than running more modern 4WD from the 1999-2006 era, which can also be bought for around £2,000-£5,000 depending on model and year.
Wow! I love this so much! I enjoyed your channel before and respected your choices, but Series is so much cooler!!! Now I'm jealous. Series is probably my favorite vehicle, but i don't even look for one, here in states they are $$$ even if junk. This was great vid, kudos to all the reasons you stated. Looking forward to more. Don't really know interesting UA-cam channel about Series. And was that a Jeep you met on the twisty road? Chrysler product, probably worse than "vehicle made in uk" ;-) Cheers!
Haha thanks! I’ve seen the prices over there. So I actually thought it would be cool to ship this over at some point, and travel with it there. And sell it in the states when I’m finished 🤌 import + adventure
What a stunning car. Tells a story. It’s crazy how cheap Oldtimers are in insurance and taxes, aside the purity the main reason my daily is always 30+ years old. can’t wait for your amazing pictures of the defender it’s so picturesque and the Color choice is a solid 10/10
Anything you talk about, you create and therefore, for me, evoke such a relaxing and interesting feeling with every video. Congrats on your new purchase and following your path!😊
Cheers! I don’t mind it at the front since it’s a series and the hood is built for it 🤌 and I need to mount some other things at the back that definitely can’t go at the hood 😅
Great project, a more rugged car probably feels more like traveling by motorcycle, feeling all the environment around you more, but with some more creature comforts 😂
Looking good already. I was concerned about your maths though as you said the 1982 manufacturing year and then said it needed love because it was 40 years old..... Surely that can't be right 82 was only 20 years ago wasn't it .?😂😂then I remembered I am 55😮 so top of the shopping list needs to be gimbal stabilization for your inside camera as the old series LR rides a little more shaky than the LR3😂. I can see the wisdom behind your choices though and I am really looking forward to seeing how the vehicle build develops, even if you have aged me 20 years 😊
😂 time flies! Yeah I didn’t bother to stabilize the video in post editing because it kinda shows how rough it is. But might need a gimbal for the more scenic shots now that I don’t have air ride 😂👍
@@kasperhoglund can u give me a hint then what websites should i search in ? Here in Slovakia cant find any for whatever price, so i have to import it anyways.. thanks 👀🚀
Been driving a lot in a Series 3 109. I don't own it anymore (swapped it for a Defender). Mine was in a kind of "rough" condition but 100% street legal and mechanically well maintained. We went on several hikes and overlanding trips in it in Sweden, both summer and winter. It's a slow and noisy car but it's also robust and reliable. Good luck with the new rig, it will surely be an awesome experience 😊
Thanks! The simplicity and rigid setup is what I’m looking for with this. Kinda fed up with fault codes and electrical stuff I can’t fix on the go. Not that this will not cause some headaches along the way, but I believe it will be more of an “adventure” than just a long drive as with the discovery👍 My dads 110 puma feels like a luxurious car after driving this 😂
Brave decision switching to this car :D It looks beautiful! Maybe consider a Pop-top roof, we did this to our Defender and it makes living in it so much better (You can stand up in it etc. etc.).
The editing and cinematography and relaxed vibe of these videos is excellent
Thank you 🙏
I love the vibes you give off. So peaceful, comfortable, and relaxed.

Congrats, but I think you are mis the Disco 4. Beter a disco 2 to dat porpose. Much more comfortable
Discovery 2 felt too close to the D4 after testing a few before deciding what to buy. Wanted a change, not just a different car 🙏
This chapter in your channel will be an interesting one. I look forward to the experiences that you will share with your viewers. Sad to see the Discovery go, yet life needs us to develop. Will be waiting for the next video. Cheers.
Cheers to that! About time to stir up the way I travel a bit!🤝
@@kasperhoglund Some time down the line you'll change to a Ranger Rover Vogue. Lol 😂😂😂😂😂
Gratulerer med solid vogn , spennende å følge dere 😊
Takker 😎🚜
kun for faskyndig betjening 😀
😂
Congrats on the new rig. Excited to watch the progress of the build and the new adventures.
Cheers!🤝
oh man, youre going to need some earplugs and a chiropractor on speed dial driving this thing! lol
also, never fix that bullet hole, ever.
Haha sound canceling headset and the upgraded seats helps a lot 😂🤌 no, that hole is definitely staying!
Sad to see the Disco go Kasper, but really looking forward to see the LR3 rebuild and the mods you do to make it your own.
Cheers for that! Will be fun to start up with a new build again!
Very excited to see the build progress on this. Great videos, cheers!
Thanks 🙏🙏
Yes! Love the new Land Rover and excited to see your build with it!
Cheers 🤝
Haha it’s honestly not too bad! But a good sound canceling headset helps 🤝
Rock solid decision! looking foreward to the project
Thanks Mads 🙏😎
I love !
Thanks 🤝☺️
well i agree, its a very cool 81’.
Plenty of things I’ll miss in the disco, but this is a blank canvas and definitely more of an adventure 😂🤌
good luck dude!:) Love the color!
Cheers man 🙏
Cool choice of car... and it will make a decent mechanic out of you 😂
We’re all unvolunteery mechanics in the LR family 😶🌫️😂
@@kasperhoglund 😅
Ultra noisy, draughty, extremely slow and shakes you to bits on a smooth 🛣️ road.
@@Globetrotter-1😂 other than that they're excellent. Good summary
@@Globetrotter-1ooh you capitalist! That sounds perfect!
Chrysler product, probably worse than "vehicle made in uk" ;-)
Cheers!
Haha thanks! I’ve seen the prices over there. So I actually thought it would be cool to ship this over at some point, and travel with it there. And sell it in the states when I’m finished 🤌 import + adventure
@@kasperhoglund dibs on yours when you do it ;-) although i could not pay market price. Enjoy!
@@joeh773 haha as long as I’m break even I’m good 😂🤌
Norway is cool. Car is just perfect vintage. Waitin for new vid!
Thanks 🤝😎
Where can i buy ur discovery ?
Hah putting it up for somewhere around 29 000€ here in Norway soon 👍
What a stunning car. Tells a story. It’s crazy how cheap Oldtimers are in insurance and taxes, aside the purity the main reason my daily is always 30+ years old. can’t wait for your amazing pictures of the defender it’s so picturesque and the Color choice is a solid 10/10
Yeah its wild how much the discovery costs compared to this. Investing that money in fuel and traveling!😎🙏 thanks!
Your videos deserve to be watched in fullscreen. I'm loving the regular uploads.
What pants are those? I'm looking for some outdoors trousers
Really hoping most of the viewers watch it on an actual screen haha 😂😄 Gramicci convertible pants 🤌
You're mad. In a good way :)
Haha I know 🌝😂 wishing myself good luck
Anything you talk about, you create and therefore, for me, evoke such a relaxing and interesting feeling with every video.
Congrats on your new purchase and following your path!😊
Thanks for that 🙏🙏
Finally another defender build to follow, good luck! The plan sounds good 👌🏼
I would also move that spare to the back on some wheel carrier
Cheers! I don’t mind it at the front since it’s a series and the hood is built for it 🤌 and I need to mount some other things at the back that definitely can’t go at the hood 😅
This is not a Defender but a series LR
Hey Kasper, what a jacket u wear at 8:00? Thanks a lot. Whats the brand and the modell?
Its a RAB fleece. Don’t remember the model name, but I guess it comes up if you Google it 🤝
Great choice! Color is perfect, looking forward to more videos
Thanks! Since i had to paint it, I didn’t want to be just another grey car in the road 😎 looks well in different lighting too!
Dude, what a fucking sick video. So cool that you can live your life how you want and doing what you’re passionate about in such an cool car!🛻🌍
Thanks man! 🙏
Great project, a more rugged car probably feels more like traveling by motorcycle, feeling all the environment around you more, but with some more creature comforts 😂
I just said this to a friend haha. More like traveling by motorcycle than a car. But with the luxury of a safe and solid bed/storage
@@kasperhoglund putting down the windshield and that's it!
Niiiice ! I would also want to buy something like this, but cant find anything like it for that money sadly
No hard to find something for that price. It really huge market for them here, that’s why I got it cheap!
@@kasperhoglund can u give me a hint then what websites should i search in ? Here in Slovakia cant find any for whatever price, so i have to import it anyways.. thanks 👀🚀
You don’t need the latest and greatest to live a life on the road 😊 I feel like anyone could make it happen especially after watching this video
So true! Definitely had a great time
with the old rig. But this makes a lot of sense for the next chapter!
Not that this will not cause some headaches along the way, but I believe it will be more of an “adventure” than just a long drive as with the discovery👍
My dads 110 puma feels like a luxurious car after driving this 😂
Best of luck 👍🏻
sounds like madness. So ofc, I cant wait for the following videos 😁
Brave decision switching to this car :D It looks beautiful! Maybe consider a Pop-top roof, we did this to our Defender and it makes living in it so much better (You can stand up in it etc. etc.).
Would love one but they’re crazy expensive new 😶🌫️😭 but thought about building a latch and gas strut system for the original roof instead
