Thanks I didn't know! It's because their design is similar to the bird that was in the game promo, so I just assumed they were also made for this game. What about the spider and shark?
@@Ukysseus I’m pretty sure the spider was intended to be in the final product. I personally find it’s “fire breath” attack to be strange and possibly a placeholder, but I’m only speculating. There is, however, a creature from King Kong called the “Moonspider” that appeared in the Ubisoft game, but I’m not sure if this spider shares the same model as the one seen in the Rayman 4 builds. For the shark, I haven’t found any shark-like creatures from King Kong. The King Kong animals usually have a unique name, such as the triceratops being called “Ferrucutus cerastes”, the bay creature called “Terapusmordax obscenus”, and the centipede creature called “Megapede”. I’d check to see if that particular shark model shows up anywhere in Ubisoft’s King Kong game, as they seem to have exclusively reused assets from that project when prototyping Rayman 4. If the shark seems to be a purely original creation found only in the Rayman 4 prototype, there’s a good chance the shark was intended to be in the final product.
One of my teachers at university actually worked on the king kong game back then, and was acquainted with Michel Ancel. I wonder if they ever mentioned Rayman 4 back then

The Rabbit beating up the Lum in a cage before running away from Rayman is an idea they reused in Rayman Legends, actually, when the Dark Teensy kidnaps a normal Teensy and you need to chase them in a similar fashion. It also kinda looks similar, too, with the Dark Teensy controlling a device while doing it just like the Rabbit does
I remember owning a game informer magazine with this version of this game on the cover with a whole story about it. While I don't remember most of the article, I vividly remember one of the devs saying they wanted to have more adult humor in the game and even wanted to try and get a Rayman show on adult swim. "Not because of sex or anything, but because [we wanted a more crude sense of humor you can't show on kid's tv]".
Also, in terms of gameplay, I don’t think the prototype is really at a ‘fun’ state. Imo, if there is gonna be a fan continuation, I think it’d be best to start from scratch and use the proto as a reference.
I don't even think this game COULD officially come out in the future since Rayman likes the Rabbids now in M+R SoH; unless they made it a prequel tie-in game to the events of M+R SoH
I’m curious to know more about the rabbid riding mechanic.I feel like there must have been more to it than we know.I remember the early promo mentioning each rabbid having their own unique traits and that you could take advantage of enemies. Perhaps Hairy, Blue, Fat, Thin and Muscular/protoSerguei had abilities, that could be used (when mounted) to access new areas or solve puzzles. I’d imagine Thin was able to jump higher to reach places and Muscular could break boulders blocking ways of entrances. Something like that. Too bad it seems the mechanic wasn’t fully programmed and we can only guess how it would have worked in a finished state. How did you mounted the rabbid in 14:59? Did you have hypnotize it with dancing (which would make sense) or did it only take some regular beating?
After a rabbid gets knocked out, stars appear around its head. At this point you can just jump on top and ride it. Not sure if that's an intended function though, this was part of a patch I think.
2:00 In Rayman RR for DS the first world is beach themed and the second one forest themed, so maybe the beach level found in the proto was also supposed to be world 1? (And on the teaser trailer Rayman is on beach but it's likely just a coincidence ua-cam.com/video/Ihw15x5r5xQ/v-deo.html.) Anyways, thanks for your amazing videos!
I’m just wondering how in the world this would’ve ran on the wii, if it was meant to have as many rabbids as in the promotional material it would’ve turned the thing into a bomb

i remember when the first trailer came out i really wanted to play that game shown in that Trailor! now my dream has been fulfilled!
...rhinos?
My brother in Christ, those are clearly some sort of ceratopsian dinosaur
I remember owning a game informer magazine with this version of this game on the cover with a whole story about it. While I don't remember most of the article, I vividly remember one of the devs saying they wanted to have more adult humor in the game and even wanted to try and get a Rayman show on adult swim. "Not because of sex or anything, but because [we wanted a more crude sense of humor you can't show on kid's tv]".
I’ve been waiting. 👁👁
Also, in terms of gameplay, I don’t think the prototype is really at a ‘fun’ state. Imo, if there is gonna be a fan continuation, I think it’d be best to start from scratch and use the proto as a reference.
2:37 Rayman doing the livesey walk
HELL YEAH
RAYMAN 4 RESTORATION PROJECT?
i thought we had already squeezed everything out of this build, but i guess not!
let's gooooooo
10:01
I'm fawking dead XD
Excellent video. No more than a decade, average fan of Rayman would literally kill to see this stuff.
I don't even think this game COULD officially come out in the future since Rayman likes the Rabbids now in M+R SoH; unless they made it a prequel tie-in game to the events of M+R SoH
I wonder how ubisoft reacts to this leak and the restoration of it.
Huh...
You know what this reminds me of? Crash of the titans
Absolutely beautiful c: my childhood and dreams in a single unfinished but super intriguing and exciting package c:
2:00 In Rayman RR for DS the first world is beach themed and the second one forest themed, so maybe the beach level found in the proto was also supposed to be world 1? (And on the teaser trailer Rayman is on beach but it's likely just a coincidence ua-cam.com/video/Ihw15x5r5xQ/v-deo.html.) Anyways, thanks for your amazing videos!
Why The Ubisoft dev never seen this Cancelled rayman game, without getting trouble?
10:13 I like the prototype of pink.👍
10:42 - I really like the prototype pictures of pink.👏👍
11:28 Good god, I legit thought this was something from a teaser not in-game prototype
Scary looking at how good it is
I know is an private ip... but come ooon, can novody just made the game using this leaked stuff?
2:28 Monique the fairy looks like Marceline from adventure time stakes
I’m just wondering how in the world this would’ve ran on the wii, if it was meant to have as many rabbids as in the promotional material it would’ve turned the thing into a bomb
So amazing to see so much of the game that could've been. Really wish it came out, it looks like it would've been tons of fun!
We just HAD to live in the universe where we don’t get this game!… I bet the universe where the game was made is having a lovely time!
11:11 jetpack joyride but rayman is on. An flying toilet
In before Rayman 4 the restoration project start development

I really hope we can come together to finish this game one day
This looks so cool, if the game released I’m sure it would have been awesome
