    It takes a New Zealander to appreciate what our flag stands for. Too many Americans take our flag for granted. Thank you, Courtney, for reminding us what our flag is all about.

      It's the super bowl. It's propaganda. Patriotic lip service to a fallen nation that is a shell of its old self. The flag is the symbol they make people focus on instead of what it's really supposed to all be about, the Constitution, which has been defiled for hundreds of years. Why do they emphasize the flag and America as it is instead of the constitution? Because Americans are uneducated about what the original fight was about and the flag is easier to understand than the documents that are supposed to define their nation, but no longer do and hasn't for over a century. But as long as Americans are fed propaganda they'll follow their Babylonian empire into the pits of hell. True men of God turn their back on evil and stamp it out, not support it just because it waves a flag they like. Only emotional fools fall for the deception.

    IAM so proud of that flag I've served under it I would die for it and it just breaks my heart to see it being vandalized maybe if the people that are participating in these acts really understood what it means to so many of us they might think twice but here in America we're going through some crazy times right now but I have faith in my country and we'll get through this we always do God bless America.

    I know this is an old video, but the point of the flag is to stand in support of every person - no matter the origin or beliefs. Every person.
    The American people stand together under the flag to fight for EVERYONE to have opportunity.

    We Americans have never been afraid to bleed. That tradition started even before we were a country. Don't think a decade has gone by. That Americans weren't fighting somewhere. Even up to today. We even fight with ourselves constantly. That's what happens when you have 350 million Kings and Queens.

    Yeah, but what about the American flags flying for decades in Guam, Samoa, Puerto Rico..... I guess it’s always going to be ‘All (white) men are created equal’. I still love my country like most Americans. There’s just always going to be a difference between American and Ethnic-Americans. Filipino/American by the way.

    This really shows why there are so many flags flying here in the States and why we often get so protective of it. It's a lot more than just a piece of cloth to us. It represents our nation's ideals(which we often haven't lived up to) and her resilience under fire.

    • @penultimateh766
      @penultimateh766 2 роки тому +1

      What are those ideals exactly and how do they differ from those of say, Britain (or New Zealand for that matter)

    • @HistoryNerd808
      @HistoryNerd808 2 роки тому +13

      @@penultimateh766 I'll give a few of our ideals off the top of my head
      1. The American Dream- Anybody can succeed if they work hard enough at it. This also plays into our individualism and optimism as a nation and our firm belief in self-reliance and hard work.
      2. We are a melting pot-It doesn't matter where you come from, if you follow our laws, you will be welcomed as an American. Our culture is a mix of all of the people who have come here and we come together around not a shared history like most nations but around the rights we hold and our belief in liberty and the equality of man. We often haven't lived up to that but those are what our ideals are based on. Margaret Thatcher said it the best, "Europe was created by history. America was created by philosophy."
      3. Our rights are more expansive than most places on Earth. While we do derive our rights from the British tradition, our free speech rights are easily the broadest on Earth and we are really the only nation that takes the right to self-defense seriously, to name a couple.

    • @HistoryNerd808
      @HistoryNerd808 2 роки тому +7

      @@penultimateh766 So while our ideals are similar to Britain's because ours derives from them, I'd still argue that ours goes further due to the fact that ours are often broader and because they are fundamental to what it means to be an American, whereas Britain and NZ are built on history and geography. America is not just a place, it is also an idea.

    • @HistoryNerd808
      @HistoryNerd808 2 роки тому +6

      @UCeOVw6NoGby3mTMWdBaoLGw Yes and also, as I mentioned in the 1st reply to your comment, the idea that the people are able to make their own way in the world, if they work hard enough and be able to control their own destinies. In other words, the American Dream. In addition, our political ideals like free speech which while other countries have it, they don't have it to the level we do and the right to self-defense which very few countries have and the ones who do, simply pay lip service to it. We don't. There are others too but I'm going to write an essay on UA-cam 😂

    This is why us older folks are against these younger Woke people who complain and say how Terrible America is, they just Don't Realize what our Country has been through and what we've done as a Country for Ourselves and the World. Many of these young people have never left America and dont realize how TRULY good they have it here. Great review. Thank you. I have the flag that covered my uncle's coffin folded neatly by the honor guard that performed the gun salute at his burial. He was a Navy vet in WW2 and retired from the Army after 26 years which included Korea, where he was a POW for 8 hours and after being rescued he was impacted by grenade fragments which almost resulted in the loss of his arm. He was one tough son-of-a-gun. My step dad, who retired from the Army after 26 years also, served in Korea. My real dad served in the Army during WW2. I come from a REAL military family.
    The flag of this country means one hell of a lot to me. Proud to be an American. Again thank you for sharing your feelings with us.

    As a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served for 10 years and in the Saudi Arabian desert in 1990/91, I know today that my loyalty is to my country and to all of my Brothers and Sister who came before me and those who came after me in the Armed Forces. Without us our country would not be as amazing as it is with all of flaws. It does my heart good to see someone from outside of the United States truly get and understand what my country is truly about. I saw this video when it aired and I totally lost control of my emotions, it reaffirmed that my service was not in vain, and was something I truly needed to do to show my appreciation for the USA. Thank you for sharing your reaction to this video, I saw that it affected you emotionally and it is a good thing, thank you for your support, kind words and love that you shared to me and to all of us who have and will serve this great country called the United States of America!!!

    Many countries don’t understand our devotion to the flag. We’re a melting pot of people from all over the world and the flag is the symbol everyone recognizes. We pledge allegiance to the flag, not a person. Everyone in the military, admirals and generals included, salutes the flag in the morning when it is raised and in the evening when it is lowered. When coming aboard ship we saluted the flag on the fantail before asking for permission to come aboard. At sporting events when the National Anthem is played we stand and face the flag, hand over heart. We’re rather fond of our national symbol.

    It is not well known but MANY of the Medals of Honor that the US has awarded are for people jumping on grenades. This was especially true in Vietnam. More remarkably, there are people who were posthumously given the medal for leaping on a rgenade, SURVIVING, then leaping on another one seconds later.
    Grenades make you nervous. I have thrown live grenades, and they sizzle in your hand. It is hard to predict when they go off, especially if it is not YOUR grenade. I never felt comfortable waiting to throw the one in my hand, let alone repsonding to one at my feet.

      Well the eagle's been flyin' slow
      And the flag's been flyin' low
      And a lotta people sayin' that America's
      Fixin' to fall
      Well, speakin' just for me
      And some people from Tennessee
      We've got a thing or two to tell you all
      This lady may have stumbled
      But she ain't never fell
      And if the Russians don't believe that
      They can all go straight to hell
      We're gonna put her feet back
      On the path of righteousness and then
      God bless America again
      And you never did think

      (In America, did you?)
      You never did think
      That we'd ever get together again
      (We damn sure could)
      Yeah, we're walking real proud
      And we're talkin' real loud again
      (In America)
      You never did think
      That it ever would happen again
      From The Sound up in Long Island
      Out to San Francisco Bay
      And everthing that's in between them
      Is our own
      And we may have done a little bit
      Of fightin' amongst ourselves
      But you outside people best leave us
      Alone
      'Cause we'll all stick together
      And you can take that to the bank
      That's the cowboys and the hippies
      And the Rebels and and the Yanks
      You just go and lay your hand
      On a Pittsburgh Steelers' fan
      And I think you're gonna finally understand
      And you never did think
      That it ever would happen again
      (In America, did you?)
      You never did think
      That we'd ever get together again

      Easier said then done. Have to fix the root of the problem which means one side must be defeated.. otherwise we will forever more be at each other's throats. One cannot be a Marxist (communist, fascist, nor post modernist) and be an American.
      They are mutually exclusive conditions.

      Definitely easier said than done especially when the media and social media is hell bent on dividing us. Unfortunately those are extremely powerful tools to brainwash the younger generation. I wouldn't be surprised if in twenty years are history is completely erased because it was too "white"

    By far the best super bowl ad so far. Also a lot of people don't know this, but the way to dispose a ragged flag is to burn it. You might check out a video on this ceremony. I'd recommend watching the boy scouts of America doing it.
