Really nice session ! It's really inspiring to go with an analog console ! I Have some outboard already but man, the console is the next step for shure ! :)
@@ZedMartyProduction Yes, perfect. First of all I want to thank you for your attention. You use the inserts for external compressors. However, it makes me think of something that may not be so natural for me ... normally, when you put compressors in the console inserts during mixing, we have to keep the equalization in the console after the compression. I think equalization is an integral part of an instrument's timbre or character. I think an instrument is pre-amplified, then equalized and finally compressed. From what I see, you use the traditional method. So I have three doubts: 1) You will hardly have a sufficient number of external compressors to serve all the tracks at the time of mixing. (We talk here about out of the box mixing). What criteria do you use to choose which instruments to place an external compressor? Example... you have only 3 external compressor but unfortunately have 5 tracks that needs compression. 2) Once you have the external compressors in the inserts, why do you apply compression only after equalizing the track? Wouldn't it be more consistent to first compress and then apply equalization to the console? I say this because I realize that compression affects a previous equalization. And I noticed that you first equalized it and then compressed it. 3) In large consoles such as modern SSL or Neve, I notice in many videos that insertions are made on the console itself, as if there were buttons or knobs or switches that "call" the compressors. What I usually do is use patchbays to apply an external compressor to some track. But what I see in some videos is a simple "button press". You know that? I take the opportunity to humbly invite you to watch my first mixing video and I hope to have the honor of your visit on my channel as well your comments.
@@ZedMartyProduction Hello there! I suppose you connect the external compressors into the console unbalanced inserts. Am I right? After all, insertion points require "Y" cables (tip = send ring + return) and are unbalanced connections. Could you please talk a little bit about this?
Hi Marty, i am thinking on to get some hybrid setup to mix mostly by hardware than mouse. I am looking for gsr24m or other analog desk plus some additional multichannel converter instead of gsr24. I see U hava changed desk and using behringer, from the eq etc..sound do U have some advice which desk i should consider to get looking from sound perspective? Thanx and keep watching for U videos.
Hi! Yes, I have a Soundcraft GB4 now. Great console! The GSR24 is also a good mixer if you can find one. Other options are Allen&Heath GL3000, Toft ATB or Midas Heritage 3000. New analog consoles are quite expensive, like the Audient ASP or Trident Series 68 - depends how much you can spend.
@@ZedMartyProduction yo i can get gsr at 4k so it is not so bad. The same money will spend on alternarive and converter. The clue for me is the sound and also motorised faders at gsr.. i am going to build custom desk for it so i hope will make best choice :)
Down at the palace...# Gonna be stuck in my head! Great work. 😎

Nice ! What kind of Audio Interface are you using ?
3x Presonus Firestudio Project
@@ZedMartyProduction How did you connect them?24 channels from Presonus goes to a mixer?
Like the video format. Just need talkback mic so you can add commentary to what you are trying as well and why. Next time?
Thanks! I usually have a mic when I do the standard tutorials or mix breakdowns but this time I wanted to try it without any comments.
I too would also like to hear your thoughts about what you are doing as you mix. Would add immensely!
Is possible hybrid mixing in cubase 5
Yes, it works with every DAW.
is that an Allen and heath?
