I am still undecided about whether I want to see this film. It breaks my heart just to watch a short video about it. I don't want to be sitting in the theatre crying like a baby. 😞
Solid review! I've been less than impressed with coverage of this film so far. Videos and reviews usually fall within the extremes of "this needs to be seen because history/Black people" and "this movie shouldn't even exist/just google it/trauma porn." You have real opinions and critiques about a movie that's gotten such visceral reactions from folks who, for one reason or another, won't actually engage with the film itself.

Not really. They're Slashers. You're here for viscera, fear, that rush of adrenaline. Trauma doesn't often factor into it. Most Slasher's tend to have pretty one-dimensional targets so you don't feel too bad when the killer strikes.
Every thing Maime Till said about Emmit when she first saw him, and the way he looked when taken out of the water should have been in the film,

It does pull at the heart strings, it doesn't rely on gruesome images, though. That's one of the things I liked about it.

I think I might see it. Emmette's murder defiantely does spark a discussion on race and the value of black lives here in america
There was another movie out lately. Sometimes what you do not say is a statement itself.
Can you be specific? What is the movie that you're referring to and what is the statement that you're referring to.
Till is NOT trauma porn. It's a well done, emotional and mainly factual telling of the events. If you want dry facts, don't see that movie.
