Is Rey Mysterio the greatest babyface of all time? Let us know in the comments below!
Hell Yeah
If we’re basing this off of success than John Cena is the greatest babyface of all time.
It belongs to Cena even Rey would tell you that. Rey is second to me.
yes
Not even close lol
Rey nailed it when he said they weren't booing him, they were booing the writing team. It didn't matter who came in at that #30 spot. If it wasn't Daniel Bryan, they were gonna boo no matter what.
Facts
The hate was for the company, not Rey.
The glass break could've hit at 30 on that night and they would've booed Steve Austin 😂😅
@@westsidera97no
They cheered when he got eliminated. The smarks can’t make up an excuse for that, no matter how hard they try.
WWE'12 fans know how great a heel Rey can be
Great reference 🙌🙌
That was top tier storytelling 2k gotta bring back Jacob Cass
That version would have wooped the judgement days's ass.
Don’t forget about Smack Down vs Raw 2011 either.
Broke Rey in half on that chair in the starrcade match😭
To this day I still can't believe they made Rey do that. They had Bad News Barret right there. Play Bryan's music and then have him come and say "If you were wanting Daniel Bryan I'm afraid I've got some BAAAAAD NEEEWWWS".
Nuclear heat right there.
give this man a booking career
@@Yagaman67 chill. literally everyone was saying that when it happened
@@editnosmirc4489 give this man a fact checking career
Barrett was injured at that point I'm fairly certain
@@alexbarrett6347 He could still have cut a promo.
Then you have Rey jump him from behind and you do what you wanted to but without the crowd taking it out on Rey.
The fans didn't boo Rey, they were booing the lack of Daniel Bryan.
They cheered when Rey was eliminated though. They were definitely taking it out on him.
lets face it DB fans are the worse
@@heavydonkeykong5190facts
They cheered when he got eliminated. The smarks can’t make up an excuse for that, no matter how hard they try.
The crowd has to cheer something and cheering about the bad writing they did @@heavydonkeykong5190
On the bright side, his Royal Rumble return after that one was met with a huge crowd pop.
Can you imagine if Bad News Barrett came out instead. Missed opportunity.
That would've been some next-level trolling. Still probably would've hated it, but dang would I have had to respect it.
"I'm afraid I've got some BAD NEWS. You see, Daniel Bryan is not actually showing up in this match, but instead, I am."
Wade Barrett should have been WWE Champion.
Didn't see this and posted the exact same thing. Still can't believe they didn't have the awareness to go with that.
Wade Barrett carried the midcard division thru 2010-2013 😭😭😭 Mans deserved to be World champ at least once😭
I don't know if Rey could pull off a believable heel, not so much due to his own ability, but rather the fans buying it. Like, what is a believable reason for a beloved figure like Rey to become a bad guy? Kids and adults love him, and generally I feel like high flyers have a more difficult time being bad as their moves just inherently make people cheer because of how cool and athletic they are.
he definitely can be heel
I think he can be a great heel in terms of how he plays it, although I do agree I don't think the fans could buy it. As a kid, he was one of my favorites, like most kids growing up in the Ruthless Aggression era.
He would never
Rey has always been a top merch sales guy, Vince loved Rey cause of his popularity, ain't no way Vince was messing with that.
Jack Evans is a great example of how a high flyer can be a heel. He would pull off a crazy move and then act extremely cocky about it, shouting things like "That was a piece of cake!" The crowd would cheer for the move, but then boo his antics afterwards.
The fans definitely boo’d Rey they started cheering as soon as Rey was eliminated
they would’ve boo’d either way if it was anyone else bc they wanted bryan
@@hateinterludeyeah like they boo’d Batista after 4 years of absence

Thank you Rey for calling Professional Wrestling a sport.
Rey was my first favorite WWE wrestler, when I was flipping through TV channels as a teenager I stumbled across Friday Night Smackdown and it was a cage match, MNM Vs Batista and Rey, and Mark Henry came down and ripped the cage door off, I was hooked at that moment, Rey flying around was crazy. Rey being a heel would never work, he's literally a superhero in WWE lol. Rey being a top baby face was just what he was built for.
We are around the same age then. You've must've fainted when the Great Khali squeezed his head like a grape on Smackdown lol
@@wwechampion Well I knew he wasn't going to kill him lol, I'm not dumb. I did think that was an interesting way to win.
He could always be his comedic heel persona from 2000 WCW always yelling "WHAZZUP" a lot. He could have formed a heel tag team with R-Truth with that.
Dom as a heel was perfect. Sooo good
Ya know what, Rey is right lmaooo we were booing the writing team that night. Pittsburgh wouldn’t boo Rey
Great interview! Especially considering the time.
What was very frustrating about it is that something still could’ve been made from Daniel Bryan’s absence from that Royal Rumble, yet it wasn’t done. Someone said it should’ve been Bad New Barrett coming out last. That way, the apt sound of him saying he has some bad news would’ve really drawn upon the fans’ outrage and gained him more heat. Instead they had Rey Mysterio come out last and absorb a load of boos he didn’t deserve.
Great interview, great man.
I remember when Rey walked out i said, "REALLY!!!!"
Man I would've loved to see a heel Rey Mysterio. Even if it didn't work it'd still be nice to see they tried
Rey vs Eddie is one of my favorite all time matches. It was back in their WCW days. Waaaaaaaaay back in 1997.
I'm too much of a good guy to be hated One of the truest statement's I've heard in a long time.
If my memory serves me, Rey Rey was once a heel for a very short time in WCW.
Its alot easier being a heel than a face.. Rey is a natural face he just fits that persona like a glove..
No one ever thought Kofi could pull it off as a heel but he sure did with New Day
I think they picked Rey as #30 because precisely because they thought no one could boo Rey, and in normal circumstances, that is true.
It's a lot like this year, where people booed THE ROCK because he wasn't the guy they wanted. But unlike back then when we were suffering the wrath of late stage Vince, now the team actually pivoted effectively and now we're gonna have an all time great Wrestlemania.
But why did they cheer for roman to win the 2014 rumble then in 2015 he actually won and they booed? Fickle fans at their finest
@@bigdonald123 I think they didn't want Roman to win, they wanted Batista to lose
They pivoted then, too
Yeah, but they had to be dragged kicking and screaming into it, like they literally tried to turn Danielson heel with that short lived Wyatt family run before they finally caved.
"now we're gonna have an all time great Wrestlemania."
That aged terribly.
Whats up woth the quality? This like a 480p video
We're going up in quality baby, time to head back to 360p as it was always the highest quality you could get.
What a legend
I agree, it didnt matter who came at 30, anyone but bryan was going to be booed
Seeing rey as a heel would be cool
Damn Dom never got a mania win can we change that next year
I mean Gd Forbid anyone not Daniel Bryan do ANYTHING back then. People wanted him to wrestle himself in every match of every show and have him win all the titles.
Yeah I didn’t think fans were booing Rey, they were booing the idea Batista winning the rumble instead of Daniel Bryan
rey such a good dude
Favorite Wrestlemania Moment: Eddie and Rey winning the tag titles
Yes such a selfless human being doesnt even mention winning the title at WM 22
He prefers to remember winning the title with his good buddy Eddie
What a guy
Quite dumb back then from the fans. Daniel Bryan had the yes chants like your gotta be kidding yourself if you wanted him over stupid yes chants. Great wrestler but seriously you boo a legend
They didn't boo a ledgend. They booed Rey Mysterio
"They were booing the writing team"
Rey mysterio should become a 2x wwe intercontinental champion or a 2x royal rumble winner and main event wrestlemania night 1 and become world heavyweight champion
Now that hes older he should turn heel
Seriously though, Rey could screwdriver my dog and I'd probably still not boo him.
There is nothing he can do that would make the fans turn on him.
If you had the choice between Randy Ortan giving your dog and RKO or The undertaker choke slamming your dog and there was no other alternative to stop either one of them, which one of the 2 would you choose
If Rey came out at 29 it would’ve been all good 😭
let's face it, Stone Cold could've shown up and win at that time and they will still boo, it's not really Rey's fault
I laugh anytime someone says cody crybaby. It like they completely forgot goat f er daniel bryan was only put at wm 30 due to crybaby bryan fans screaming yes until they got their way.
Thank goodness most of them fans don't watch WWE anymore the hijackers ruined a lot of shows
Rey wouldn't work as a heel in due to his size, and people don't want to boo him, it be like turning Ricky Steamboat heel.
wrestmania was in LA for 7.
Another proof how out of touch Vince was, D Bry got lucky that the fans were so vocal that Vince finally gave in the year after.
LOVE THE LIKE NUMBER. NO BODY ELSE PLEASE LIKE IT
If they were gonna turn him heel that was a perfect opportunity. Could have had him fued with Bryan at that point.
It wasn't even his fault. Poor guy honestly. I get fans were mad and rightfully so but damn don't boo the actual babyfaces in the match and the actual match itself. It's not their fault their bosses didn't put Bryan in. I mean look at Cody at Mania XL and Kofi at Mania 35. The backstage crew loved both of them winning the World Title. I'm just glad management has made up by doing the right thing with Kofi and Cody finally although they didn't make right when Bryan got eliminated so quick in the 2015 Royal Rumble
These were the internet smarks who were rooting for Daniel Bryanson lol
I love Ray and Dom Dom, but let's face it, Dom didn't "break into the business ". His start was handed to him on a platter because of his dad.
And now he is putting in the work and his scheduale is bonkers. Guys working his ass off and no one can deny it.
@@gerrymcwilliam Absolutely 💯
Nepotism definitely gets you opportunities in wrestling you won't normally get. But at the same time, if you can't work and can't talk, you will be out on your ass same as anyone else.
Being family of a famous wrestler comes with the expectation that said wrestler also trained you.
It’s obvious the kid didn’t want to go to college and gave wrestling a shot.
He’s not the first one to do it and he won’t be the last. Randy Orton literally said “I don’t even like wrestling I’m just doing this for the money” and now he’s the locker room leader now that Undertaker is gone.
I really hate the nepotism argument sometimes, because they think it gets the same straight to the top scenes, when you actually still have to put in the work, nepotism only gets you in the doors, but you can be released if you suck according to many like David Flair
Its crazy all those marks thought daniel bryan was a bigger draw then batista, now 10 years later daniel bryan dam near a nobody while batista still known worldwide 😂
People use the word "SHOOTS" way too much
Shoot just means it's not kayfabe, it doesn't have to be negative.
Shocked by some of the comments which forget how bad the shows were at the time and how Daniel Bryan was so obviously over. People talking here as if "Daniel Bryan fans" were like some sort of small group - arena after arena were going wild for the guy at the time.
Not really. There's just a faction of contrarians that cheer for whoever isn't there.
Thank you!!!!
I really hate how there is these fake fans that keep saying fake crap like “the whiny Bryan fanbase was so small and wouldn’t shut up” when Bryan was getting loud pops every night and in every area.
Lots of sports took the YES chants like the Giants because of Bryan’s insane popularity.
why does bro sound like Soap
WrestleMania is been in Los Angeles 4 times and 2005 wasn't the 1st, Rey
I don’t watch Rey Matches.
Bryan fans were so toxic. They hijacked entire shows just for him
We were very happy to get the goat to wm 30, and we will always wear that victory with pride.
Stop using SHOOT in your titles oh my god it is so mark brained its almost embarrassing please hire a competent social media person. The UA-cam algorithm does not know what "shoot" means.
Look at your top 50 viewed videos. How many have "shoots," in the title?

As a rey fan . I booed myself 😂. Not a Hater ,it should hav been bryan
Fans sucked during that time. Rey and Batista should have never gotten booed. Screw Daniel Bryan.
Which was the reason why I stopped watching wrestling, marks ruined it for me.
Batista should have always gotten booed.
Bryan fans were so insufferable
Don't lie. You were one of them at one point as well.
@@TJ-fe7rr I actually wasn't. I felt bad for Batista and how his return got derailed because of Bryan's entitled fanbase.
@@michaelburke7978 nothing against Batista, it was all Vince's doing. But coming back to WWE to win the RR and headlining WM and later go back to starring in movies. If that's not entitlement, what is?
@@TJ-fe7rr He left due to creative differences, as he originally signed a 2 year contract. His run turned to shit when they turned him into a glorified jobber, having only 2 PPV wins.
He wasn't entitled in the slightest. Unlike people like Goldberg or Lesnar returning, Batista was working a full time schedule, including house shows.
On top of that, he even offered to return for Summerslam, selling the idea that someone who is starring in the #1 movie of that year is back in WWE, only for them to scoff at the idea that the likes of Batista would ever be a capable actor, or that his movie would be any good. In the end, GotG was a smash hit, and Drax was a memorable MCU character.
So yeah, I don't blame him in the slightest for giving them the finger in 2014.
Justice to Dave Batista. He could make wrestling cool again, which Rock couldn't do in 2024.
Those fans during that time period were absolute fucking cancer. As much as i’d like to share rey’s thoughts of fans booing creative, they werent. They were booing rey even on raw for weeks.
Never understood the hype with Daniel Bryan, he was an overrated midcarder at best, opening match if he was around in the attitude era. He's one of those wrestlers where marks wanted to be seen supporting him instead of actually thinking he was any good
That's okay for you to think that way, it's your opinion and not everyone has to like the same person that the majority liked but that's the issue, the majority of fans loved him. If he was just a mid carder at best, so many fans wouldn't of been behind him like they way they were.
@@Datura_baka yeah I don't doubt he had some fans, but he was around the era of the smark, where you watched NJPW to be seen watching it when we all know it's absolute dog, be seen supporting indie wrestling and wrestlers, watching wrestlers and saying how good a "worker" they are without actually understanding what wrestlers mean by saying someone can "work" Daniel fall into the category of being seen to like someone rather than actually liking someone, he had zero charisma, good in the ring but if he was around in the attitude era he'd have had a run with dean malenko or fought for the European title on Sunday night heat at best. That's his level but fair play, his fans bought enough "yes" t shirts to get him a top spot
@@rambo_on_pills945A grown ass man using the term smark in 2024 lmao what a loser
Did you not see him in team hell no
@@user-rr9tc4ok1u yeah that was a gimmick tag team where Kane was partnered with a mid-carder and hit the low point of his career in comedic skits. Basically buried kane as an unstoppable monster to a Saturday night live skit. Remember the cringe counsellor and people in a session? Suppose it would be funny for kids under 8 not most of us that grew up with kane demolishing wrestlers. Forget what Daniel Bryan actually brought to that tag team tbh. But tbf he's a forgettable wrestler
I can't imagine Rey as a heel with the mask. If he turns heel, he should remove his mask.
I hated Daniel Bryan ever since
Can u tell me why these are the exact questions I wanna ask Rey, the heel thing, the rumble thing, at what point he would have turned heel, Man U just gave me some hardcore closure HAHAHAHA
Rey wouldn't be a good heel, his size and super hero persona was just to fitting. He isn't intimidating with his height so it would be like a kid picking on an adult. (I'm a huge Rey fan btw so i'm not hating. Rey was a top merch seller, and Vince loved that, he was never going to risk changing Rey into a heel. Wouldn't work, tweener could work but full on bad guy? Nah.
IWC fanboy marks are the only ones that throw tantrums and boo when they dont get their way.
