Greatly appreciated this video! What was the distance between the post and the ground?
Hey Izzy,
The distance from the ground to the top of the post is 50 inches, the post are laid out on 8 feet centers and the space between the four rails is 6 inches. I hope this helps and thanks for watching! Please let me know if you have anymore questions.
@@TheEndGrainWorkshopthank you ! Building a fence next week , liked and subscribed 👍🏼
good info however I got motion sickness watching it due to all the camera movement
This gave me a perfect idea for my fence! I see you had a rendezvous with destiny :D
Hey David,
I'm glad it helped and yes I did have a rendezvous with destiny. C company 1st of the five o duce.
👍 I think I will build one just like it.
I noticed that you still have the concrete around the posts way below the ground still allowing water to stay in the holes longer than it should be.
Yes, we did have some that were below grade but we made sure to taper the top of the concrete. It's okay to be below grade, you just want to avoid having a concave top.
@@TheEndGrainWorkshop The reason of having the concrete above the ground is to direct water away from the posts.
Great job! I will borrow the jig idea. Clever!
Thanks and good luck on your project.
What kind of wood did you use for the horizontal boards?
Hey Frank - I used 1”x6”x16’ severe weather pressure treated coral boards from Lowes. Hope this helps and thanks for watching! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Whats the distance between post
8 feet on center. Hope this helps.
What are the rails? 1x6?
Yes 1x6 rails and 4x4 post.
Yes 1x6 rails and 4x4 post.
Great job.
Thank you for the positive feedback. I"m glad you enjoyed the video.
What is the space in between?
There’s a six inch gap between rails.
It was my understanding that you have to wait for the wood to cure before you can paint or stain it. Did you wait a period of time before you stained it? Your project turned out great.
Yes, we waited about two weeks before staining. We are in Florida so our dry time might be shorter due to our hot climate. In a cooler climate you might need to wait a month or so. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have anymore questions. I used a Valspar semi transparent stain from Lowes.
