What is with the urgghh argghhh while putting the sponge in obviously the narrow entrance is smaller than the inside would you like a hollow plastic cylinder filter instead?
Its just a bit of tight sponge and loses flow very quick and when cleaning very messing to be honest the filter sponge is so small it wouldn't really hold much bacteria after 3 days the flow was less then a dribble when you consider you can get a sponge filter with 10 times the sponge and pump for similar money ,,,,hmmmm lol
hmm i couldnt find a flow adjustment on this particular model but to be honest after 2 weeks of use the flow slowed by half as the sponge got clogged plus its not that fast when the head is under water
Thanks for making these videos, it’s interesting to hear your views on these different filters. I’ve just set up a 58 litre ciano tank. I didn’t like the filter it come with so I got an aquael 300 filter but I’m not sure it’s up to the job, plus I want to keep cherry shrimp in my tank. I then bought a fluval u2 filter and although it has three stage filtration it’s just too big for my tank so I haven’t even used it. I’ve now ordered an interpet pf2 filter as it’s supposed to have three stage filtration. I was going to try a tetratec but after watching your video I don’t think it would do much good. So the only other filter I might look at getting is an eheim pickup but that only has a sponge in it. I want an internal filter that will hold biological media and have a pre filter to trap any small particles of waste. I also noticed you had the aquael heater in your tank, are these heaters any good as I was going to order one.
Hi if its only shrimp sponge is fine for a media as it holds bacteria and the bio load from shrimp is very lite i would try on of these an eheim bioball i use one and have a little sponge an i use eheim substrat pro www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EHEIM-BIOPOWER-160-200-240-INTERNAL-FISH-TANK-FILTER-TROPICAL-MARINE-COLDWATER/200701055360?hash=item2ebab71180:g:mEoAAOSwK-1dOvES
@@AQUAGUYUK I was thinking about buying an aquael 300 for my 25 liter tank, I only have one gold fish. However, I'm thinking of cutting half the sponge and adding filter fiber. Do you think it might be a good idea?
Thanks for making this video, I’ve got a few tanks with pondsolutions filters and bought a cheap 60L second hand and came across this abomination of a filter 🤣
Honestly. ... that looks terrible. You might as well use a sponge .. that filter on a 30g... no way No one has invented a pump internal filter worth using, best bet is diy box filter with pump or jet lift
@@AQUAGUYUK Did you finally do the chemical tests on the water? Which it was the result? I think it is a filter like any other of the same flow. Logically with its limitations on the amount of fish and waste in the tank, but once colonized and matured, it does not have to give problems if it is used in the minimum recommendation indicated by the manufacturer. I personally had an aquael uv 1000 Uni filter in a 240 liter with 2 adult oscar fish and I had no problem with the chemistry doing water changes of 30% weekly. also the water was always very clear. It is a matter of cleaning the sponge as necessary so as not to remove the bacterial colony. Well, it's my opinion, but I'm deeply interested in knowing how the water chemistry was. Thanks for the video. Greetings.
@@raulmoni2916 This model is very poor after 3 months i though it away i feel it does not have the surface area for enough bacteria to handle bio load in this size tank i tested the water after 3 months and it simply could not keep up ,,,but this is the smallest filter they do i would now get a "U" series filter from Fluval
@@AQUAGUYUK Ok. Thank you for the speed. Anyway, I think I will take this filter and attach another glass to the top to put ceramic material inside and thus extend its capacity. I think for an 80 liter tank, it will be fine. Thanks again
@@raulmoni2916 I would always say that its an individual thing due to my set up i would say i need a larger filter yet my other 60 litre tank with a deep substrate i could use it but being only sponge really lets it down
As a noob aquarist placing the filter above fascinated me.
Thanks!
Main reason was to test the flow but you can use this method to aerate the tank as long as the motor gets water np
Same, no one explained to this to me and 2 fish died 😔 after seeing this video and where to place correctly, my fish are much happier.
Very good filter 👍
Thanks 👍 i do have issues later on with clogging

Do you know how to control the speed of it? Seems awfully fast for my fish

Can this filter be submerged horizontally in a water turtle tank?
Just tried it in 7cm of water and it didn't seem to work just gurgled

Aquael pat mini filter is the safest shrimp filter on market and can be upgraded to use with double spongle filter for maximum filtration cheers
Can the water outlet be below the surface? I don't like the sound of the waterfall
indeed yes this was just to show the flow rate

Can see why Fluval are the best

Yea i do get a bit of feedback on filters and to be honest pumping water through sponge simply wont do
I've had problems with the sponge, blocks the exit for the water to come out
interesting i have never had this issue
Es porque esta saturado de sucio, al lavarlo vuelve a funcionar correctamente.
It is still working ?
yes but updated tank and filter
It's a bit Eck' considering it's Aquael
Eck??? ok lol

Agreed but will give it a test see how the wat chemistry is after a month
