Logs to Lumber

Follow the story of logs that arrive at our sawmill in Longview, Washington - from the log yard through the merchandiser; then cut into boards and trimmed for length; sorted and stacked; finished to exact dimensions in the planer mill; scanned and graded; stacked, squared and strapped, and then shipped to our customers by truck, train and ocean vessels.

My Uncle worked for them til he retired yrs ago. I remember in grade school our class visited the old mill and got a look at a saw mill up close. Early 60's I believe.

Long gone are the days of pulling lumber on the "Greenchain" here's a good use of mechanization.
