I kinda like how Ben/Gov breaks the 4th wall because he couldnt find a reason why the deadline was May 10th 1775. Which makes one realize the convenience, if not coincidence, that the Declartion was made on July 4th. Imagine if Jefferson was mildly sick or had an off-day, Independence Day would be July 5th. Or heck, if he wrote like Alexander Hamilton writes, it may have become July 2nd
To be fair the Continental Congress *declared* independence on July 2nd. The document that became the Declaration of Independence wasn't approved by congress until July 4th and first signed with a first printing of it the same day - with John Hancock's name at the bottom. However most of congress didn't sign it until August 2. And it wasn't until 1777 the names of the signers were released to the public. I can't recall when it was actually presented to the king (though I think at that point it might have been his son acting as regent by then).
Why is it convenient or a coincidence that the declaration was made (or signed) on July 4th? Its not like there was already a holiday on that day (AFAIK), so it’s not convenient nor a coincidence as if it was July 5th it would still be almost the same
I love the Philly PA! So accurate. Also my all time favorite like "I will remember this forever. Forever? It's Fine! We'll deal with it later!" basically sums up American issues

And it’s such an anomaly that there’s a whole book about which had so many sources that it crashed my book app the first time I turned to them. It’s called “Break it up” by Richard Kreitner, its really good and I recommend it if anyone wants to learn more about it
I'm pretty sure during one of these (one of the ones while they were discussing the Articles of Confederation), Virginia very Nearly kicked Maryland out of the US, basically while they were Drafting the Articles Maryland made a big stink about one particular thing saying that they wouldn't sign it unless it was in the Articles of Confederation, and then Virginia was just like if Maryland wants to make a big stink about it then Maryland can just not be a part of this new Country (Maryland eventually signed because they panicked thinking the British were coming and nobody would give them help because technically they weren't part of the US, so they signed). In case you want to know what the big thing was, Maryland wanted to have in the Articles that all new Land would go to Federal Government to decide what to do with, instead of keeping with the Charter which allowed most states (not all of them, for example Maryland didn't have that charter) full control of their land and all Land to the west of that in strips, and Maryland feared that if it kept that way Maryland would become Irrelevant.
@@krishpatel3156 I only learned recently as well. There's a lot of stuff that people don't know, for example did you know that for a couple years early in it's history the Counties of Colonial Virginia weren't called Counties but Shires, then they decided to change it

This is just some minor speculation on my part. So, the first battles of the Revolutionary War were on April 19, a few weeks before the second congress was held.
