This book is so amazing, my mind was blown several times reading it. Tolkien is a true catholic hero and genius! And he was so stealthy about it. Thank you Mr List for unraveling it all!

Get a copy and read it. Are you up to the challenge? This book, Mount Doom, is for everyone, even for readers who are not fans of Tolkien or the Tolkien movies. It is not an easy read, but neither is Tolkien. I must admit I had never read any of the books or seen the movies. In the last three months I have read Mount Doom twice, The Silmarillion, and I am nearly finished my second time through The Hobbit and LOTR. And I'm glad I did. The interpretation of Tolkien contained in Mount Doom rings true. Consider the challenge presented by Paul List at the close of the book: (1) reject moral relativism and take responsibility for your own education, (2) cast off the Ring of Power in your life, (3) reorder your life getting rid of sin and addiction, and (4) live a life of heroic holiness by becoming a Saint.

There ought to be a Traditional Latin Mass for those who want it. Not everyone does and being the cause of scandal in this regard is egregious. I dont think John Tolkien would have appreciated much of what is represented here. He did not want people to allegorize his fiction and impose their own interpretations upon it, like a rationalistic protestant.
You need to actually read what JRR wrote about his work, as he stated that is was an allegory about Power and that it was a fundamentally Catholic work. He despised Vatican II, the new Mass and responded very loudly in Latin as a protest against it.

I tried to be sceptical when reading the book But it is beyond a doubt for me now that Tolkien envisioned what an AI would be and wrote Sauron with that in Mind. This interview goes very fast (because Mr List has so much he can say). I highly recommend reading the book if you're interested.
The orcs were genetically modified though.
This nemesis represents perhaps more than just AI. I see it could be also the greatest of demons we battle against, the ring is temptation and Sauron has used this to manipulate countless times his adversaries. How many souls have been destroyed by sins of lust and other temptations that we can't fully control ever without help of Our Lord, also with the help of His mother and to some degree the Saints.
Melkor/Morgoth = Lucifer/Satan
Sauron is a Lieutenant of Morgoth, and who are those creatures aiding Satan with his goals of damning souls to hell?
So AI is a tool of this adversary; or it will be used as such, for complete domination of humanity, or it will try to, I guess...

Forgive me for pointing out your lack of any understanding of this topic. Simple Denial is not a legitimate argument. So you can’t expect to be taken seriously.
We need to worry about kerping ourselves in a state of grace and not waste time with childish fantasy! Maybe im wrong.
If you are suggesting that Tolkien's mythology is "childish fantasy", you are truly lost.
In order to keep in a state of grace it's essential that we can discern evil - in us as well as in the world - and Tolkien's books are marvellously illustrative of the way evil works ( and how the good, however seemingly powerless, can by grace overcome it).
As someone that has loved Tolkiens work and was brought out of atheism by God Himself and received private revelations from God about the hidden prophetic nature of Tolkiens work, you are way off base.
Wow, this is very interesting. I always thought 'The Lord of the Rings' was rich with themes and allegories, but it took 20 years to finally see its hidden meaning....

Paul List truly has a heart for the truth - i've worked with him in the past and his desire for others to know the truth is contagious. I'm so glad he's been able to get his book out in the public domain. People would eat up what he has to offer, but it's not for the faint of heart!

Amazing! So much just fell into place. I loved the books, the movies were amazing but missed so many salient points (I guess there's only so much screen time). One thing I wished was commented on here was the journey across Mordor by Frodo & Sam - I think it was one whole book dedicated to that and I remember being completely exhausted after reading it.
