I was born in Manchester of Welsh of parentage, the same as Lloyd George, unlike Mr Lloyd George l am regularly reminded that not being born in Wales there is no way l can ever claim to be Welsh. I can only assume the current leader of the Welsh assembly, born in Africa is not Welsh either, is this not racist?

@@LTJones Thank you, my dad, who was a Welsh miner who was moved to England during WWll before being sent to Burma when he was in the Welsh Fusiliers thought l was Welsh, unfortunately when l lived in Wales l was frequently reminded l would always be English. In England l am also told that despite my Welsh name and learning Welsh, l am English. My Mother's family were also from Wales. Despite this, l will not be singing God save the Queen anytime soon.

I think the founding of the welfare state by him was a great acheivement by him and he deserves hero status. But as you say, he completely misread Hitler and he was wrong on a number of things in his later life. It is worth bearing in mind that the politics prior to WW2 was very different to how it is today.
