Wow! This is just too...awesome. Look at the structure pre-touchdown. It's perfect! How can something so deadly be so...mesmerizing? And the colors are amazing!
Yes, it probably did reach F4 an possibly F5 intensity. But actual ratings are based on the damage that a tornado does. This tornado spent most of its time over open country and didn't hit much. As a result, none of the damage done was worse than F2. Many tornadoes that happen in open country get ratings lower than what they deserve.
I agree. I love all those horizontal vortexes in the Tuscaloosa tornado but my favorite is the "Moore Monster" on May 20,2013. The video but Micheal Lynn is incredible but there is a lot of others that look amazing. I wish the Joplin tornado wasn't so rain-wrapped, it was an awesome one on May 22,2011.
Tornadoes are rated solely on the damage they do. I find it unbelievable myself but if this tornado, as violent as it is, didn't hit anything, it would've been rated F0.
Yes I understand how the EF and F scale work I was simply commenting on visually how the tornado looked. The motion in both the meso and the tornado its self is very reminiscent of other violent wedges such as the Tuscaloosa EF5 or the Bridge Creek-Moore F5. I should have made that clearer with my post.
F3's are very rare, Though most tornadoes are with in F0-F2 range. But it is kinda strange the most of the worlds biggest tornadoes are F2's. Most F4 and F5's are between Half and A Mile wide, But it is nearly impossible to rate this tornado due to the fact that it spent most of it`s life on solid ground.
Your subtitle at around 6:20 is wrong. The only way the video in the second half is looking west is if the tornado is moving southwest. They are likely looking east.
F-3 is my favorite cause my favorite number is 3, What i don't like is people on UA-cam are changing F-3's ratings. Example: Canton Lake, OK Tornado 2011. Rated F-3. Though most people on UA-cam are rating it F-4 or F-5.
Cool neighbors carry walkie talkies and rescue you from danger. Thumbs up.
Thats how it is out in the country, everyone has each others backs

One of the most beautiful tornadoes that I have EVER seen. The structure on this storm was incredible!
Wow that thing turned into a massive monster pretty fast.
That's what she said...Heh heh I couldn't resist, but seriously though this thing ramped up really fast, that structure is amazing!!

The birds couldn't care less. They're just singing away.
F2, more like F4 at least and today it would be more like an EF5, that rotation is sick.
At the 1:55 mark, the sirens sound almost mournful as they spin down, like, "Columbus is safe but to the east of us, oh, noooooooooooo..."
WHAT A MONSTER!!!!!!!! The whole Meso's spinning like a top
I think this tornado and the 2011 Tuscaloosa tornado were the most photogenic tornadoes. Amazing footage!
I agree! I think El Reno was too until it got too rain-wrapped. It had the prettiest green color I've ever seen.

***** The hail around it gave it the green color. You're right, I often marvel at it's color myself.
We'll agree to disagree.
Jon Jukes and agree again. lol
Incredible storm structure!!!! WOWZERZ!
Definitely this is not an F2. Not even an F3.
This structure is the perfection.

No, this is a different view of the same tornado.
Was this tornado real close to Columbus or farther away. I am from Schuyler and I was wondering if this is closer to Columbus or Schuyler?
That's a massive wall cloud!! The rotation on that is incredible! Was this classified as an F4 or F5?
I believe the tornado was rated an F2 because it didn't hit many structures, but it definitely had winds over 250 MPH
My exact birthday 😖 I am from Columbus
WOW. This is unreal, thank you for sharing.
Officially it was an F2 since it didn't hit much. It was probably capable of doing at least F4 damage, though.
1:56 ... Tornado touches down and the sirens stop?
I did make a mistake on the direction they were recording the video. I should have reviewed the footage before i put it on UA-cam.

Such a perfect super cell
With how violent this tornado was in appearance I would gander that it was likely in the >F3 range. What a monster!
Great footage!
That went right over my dad's house 🏠
That's quite the wall cloud and rotation. Had it hit a populated area, my guess would be it'd attain at least a high end F3 rating.

I will be uploading that video later tonight after i finish editing it.
Was there more then one activation of the sirens
When you zoom in at around 3:10, it looks like the F-5 from the movie Twister. Crazy!
I lived in Nebraska in 2013 now I moved to arkansas w when I lived in Nebraska I was in columbus
So this tornado came towards you and stopped and just sat there for 12 plus minutes roaring close to your house? Wow! Glad you guies didn't get hit!
I wonder what scale was this tornado.
The day I was born :p
No, Size and Appearance doesn't really matter. It was an F3.
So WickedTornado, I see you chase storms and say you have for years. Is there a reason why you don't upload any of your footage onto UA-cam?
I saw a page on it a long time ago it said "Rated: F3?"
It gorgeous
I think it could have easily been an F5 had it hit a town.
world record largest tornado was trying to be produce here in 98'
I wouldn't be surprised by that either.
Great video!!!
It was actually rated F3.

Gets scary 6mins in.
super cool
Weak F3/Strong F2.
This tornado was rated an F2 because it didn't hit much of anything.
I'm glad I wasn't born I hope everyone was ok
It probably knocked out power.
Its an f5or 4
F3.
F3.
F3.
