Oh my god, thank you guys so much! I’ve been looking for a term that describes my very very broad spectrum of interests an “multipotentiality” is it!! It fits just perfectly, ever since I was little, I was passionate about so many things, I thought I was just nerdy and easily distracted. 🤣

I don’t think it’s rare if you know where to look. The young man is inspiring and clever but not alone in his thinking or ideas. I think you have to look for people who attended the best universities where ever you are and they will likely have a similar mind that has an insatiable appetite for knowledge and analytical thinking.

polymaths are people with profession in multiple areas not just one, they drop out of school or quit career because they feel like it. Steve Jobs dropped out of tech to pursue design, he was also into spirituality (short for hippie). Musk was a self taught programmer that went to study business and economics to drop out too. He is also self taught engineer. Polymaths are innovators. Think of architects that are inspired from biology. Programming and computing was inspired by nature.
I cant say what davinci mindset was, but you got to want to be the best at everything you do. Think of having an career (that has no growth left) and wanting to become best chief as a hobby. There is difference between learning to cook - and wanting to be the best chief. Davinci was master at many fields, he wasnt just interested in some. It means people with multiple professional careers.
Think of Forest Gump. Where he started and how his life looked like. He was just living life. Professional career means u know what u want in life. Polymaths (I argue) dont know what they want. or they just go with it.

I found your channel while exploring more about dark academia and its an absolute treasure trove that I've begun to bury myself in. Your work is profound and well structured while the advice you're giving not only impacts but is easy to understand and apply. When I saw the title of this video I stopped everything I was doing to pay as much as attention as I could. I can't say it enough but R.C. Waldun, I am eternally grateful from the depths of my heart that you put the importance of history into perspective.
I'm an avid history reader and due to some circumstances I can no longer take it as my course even though I have been planning to take it for years. I'm a really stubborn person and get really devoted to certain topics that pique my interest yet I've been discouraged and felt a bit embarassed about studying history most of my life despite how much I truly love the subject. It's frustrating to explain time and time again to people that history isn't simply memorizing facts and knowing popular people across the centuries so that one can understand typical references in pop culture or just for the sake of it. It's upsetting to hear it when people close to me tell me that I shouldn't waste too much money on historical books and detailed accounts from centuries ago. The worst however for me is when people tell me that I should care more about the future and look to the present because the past is irrelevant- IRRELEVANT- and that all the hours I took to carefully study each period in time is useless. It pains me to see how many people look at history as a shoddy book that school requires you to read when it in fact is a brilliantly shining diamond that withstands the ravages of time.
In your video you were able to put into perspective how important history is and noted how it holds wisdom, how it brings different perspectives, how it shows how we are developing. I can't show you how touched I was to hear it but I felt like crying honestly, it's somehow very comforting for me to see someone else give this much care when talking about history.
The idea that the history is just looking back at the past and noting key figures is abominable. History is a way to see the link between the past and the present, how humanity has come to where it is now, and can serve as reference for inspiration of new ideas by essentially reviving or revamping forgotten traditions, philosophies, movements, etc. that may influence the way we act and collectively impact our present and somehow our future as well. I can't stress enough that history isn't a bunch of failures and victories that we simply honor with statues and parks, history contains the failures of our ancestors which are mistakes that we can learn from and the victories which we use as the stepping stones of our development in society.
    Thank you. ❤️☀️

I would add that a critical approach to history is just as if not more edifying than a survey approach. Never take the narrative you read as fact. Always question the source of information. Be able to interpret an event, the circumstances around it, and connect it to other events. Detatching from the media and common narratives with critical interpretation will make you a more aware person and generally strengthen your convictions as you go to evaluate the evidence on your own.

I read because I find it incredibly interesting and fun. Sometimes it directly helps someone else or somewhere else.
Anxiety, depression, abandoned goals, aimless people, ineffectual people, and so on won’t necessarily be helped by reading the right stuff.
If your channel’s content changes from introduction to great books and thinkers to more holistic topics, then you’re opening up to a massive debate involving multiple disciplines, which is great, but it’s … a big topic touching a lot of nerves along the way.

I just wanted to share a perspective or perhaps a thought that i came across some time ago...and it is that we all are operating in our everyday lives with a certain awareness and even if we think something or someone to be wrong or right at the moment, in the future our perceptions of right and wrong might change if we further expose ourselves to different fields and perspectives.....which means that we all have limitations to our knowledge and to say anything doesn't make any sense as we are perceiving something to be true or not true based on our life experiences, beliefs, the kind of content we consume and the people we live around.....
I have come to this realisation that the more i come to know, the more i want to know and the more i need to know.
And as always a great video!🙃
And please provide your perspective on this.

What you are saying in this discussion, is an important Idea of Martin Heidegger, that is in his book "Being and Time". One of his main ideas is Historicality which says we are this happening or historizing or geshehen in German. And Nietsche seems to say the same in his book "Use and Abuse of History". Thanks for this great discussion.

You may also like the Aurora Prize which is like the Olympics for international charities. It has been ongoing since 2015, and I believe it is a historic event in regards to revolutionizing charity by remembering history. It transforms the pain of genocides of 1915 into gratitude for international organizations that saved as many lives as they could, and pushes that impetus to help forward by supporting other maligned or ignored humanitarian crises.

    • @NouraZahle
      @NouraZahle Рік тому

Aurora Prize Laureates receive a US $1,000,000 award and a unique opportunity to continue the cycle of giving by supporting the organizations that have inspired their humanitarian action. They have smaller monetary prizes for other individuals. The Aurora Prize has already made a significant impact on the lives of over 2.7 million people in need, by the current date, 1.1 million of which were affected by war and displacement, in 46 projects in over 30 nations.
Previous Aurora Prize Laureates include Burundian activist Marguerite Barankitse (2016), American physician and missionary Dr. Tom Catena (2017) and Rohingya lawyer and human rights campaigner Kyaw Hla Aung (2018). The 7th annual prize (2022) was awarded to Jamila Afghani who is an educator and a human rights activist. She has trained over 6,000 imams to preach about the importance of upholding the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan. The fourth annual Aurora Prize (2019) for Awakening Humanity was awarded today to Mirza Dinnayi, Co-Founder and Director of Luftbrücke Irak (Air Bridge Iraq) who devoted his life to saving Iraqis including Yazidis who suffered from war and genocide. It was Dinnayi who brought to Germany the future Sakharov Prize Laureate Lamya Haji Bashar. Today, she is a renowned human rights activist and has one of Aurora’s scholarships named after her. The runner up's for the prize also get 50,000 dollar grants each to help further their charitable aspirations. For example, in 2019, Zannah Bukar Mustapha, Director and Founder of Future Prowess Islamic Foundation in Nigeria, and Huda Al-Sarari, Yemeni lawyer and activist received that honor. Another honor went to Sakena Yacoobi, a human rights activist and educator who founded the Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL). Sakena’s organization has roughly 350,000 women and children complete classes at the Afghan Institute of Learning’s schools and training centers every year and helped expand medical access for rural women. Since 1996, 16 million Afghans have been impacted, either directly or indirectly, by AIL’s education, training and health programs.
This is a prize made by a "poor" country, who are rich in generosity. Armenians also valued education highly, saving books during the genocide, and actually have literature dedicated to how they saved books during massacres predating 1915. They also have a proverb that a man could rob you of everything except what you carry in your mind.

Blame American individualism , we have our sights set on OUR futures and not the collective future because we see ourselves as separate or more important which I can understand because we are not anyone else but ourselves but we are one another and effect one another in polarity consciousness and the law of one , everything is one but still it’s hard to keep that in mind when things only effect you personally .

I find education without a purpose to be… soulless.
    “Masturbation”.
But perhaps this is just a difference in view about the purpose of life.
I personally seek to understand and gain control of nature. And this leads me to “learn”. But it’s more like, gather the tools needed to move forward.
But what I hear in this video is a worldview where the purpose of life is to cultivate self and gain “erudition”.
To me… this sounds very self-important and academic.
But… I wonder if anyone can lay this out in a way that doesn’t sound like this.
The question floating in my mind as I listened was, “why?”
But I am a problem solver at heart.

    History Part -2
Greek History and Roman History are only in books, Constantinople now is Istanbul, Royal Mosque in Turkey then was Hagia Sophia Church. You don't have a trace of African traditions and AFRICAN pagan roots. In the Baltic Countries like Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia we can hear something similar to the Samskrit language! Does it prove that we are all actually the lineage of so-called invading Aryans? Or does it prove that people went from here to there? So we are fighting on complexion, we're fighting on who is an Aryan and who is a Dravidian when there is a decent chance as opposed to Aryan invasion theory you should be looking at "OUT OF INDIA THEORY" Why is this important? Because people are asking for Dravidanadu today. People are saying 4 states in the South should form a separate Country because they form part of the Dravidian language and Dravidian culture and they are not part of the larger Indian culture. That is the extent to which History is being used to drive a wedge between people. People who are saying that we may speak different languages, different attires, but there is a common underlying thread that binds us together are called right-wingers, fascists, and people who are intent on imposing one culture on everybody else & those people who are saying you all are different, you can't even talk with each other, and let's say people who are giving food and water to separatists ideologies are been pushed as the liberal bent of mind. So if anybody says that History does not play any role in these discussions then he would be genuinely a Stupid fellow.
Telangana(A State in Bharath) Telugu (A language in the State) is vastly different from Andhra's(A State in Bharath) Telugu dialect. The reason, Telangana today was vastly under the rule of Nizam for the longest time. Nizam was a representative of the Mughal in Deccan (Originally Dakshin - South) - Read a book called Last Nizam, The place Hyderabad (Telangana) was a melting pot of Yemenis, Arabs, Rohilla Pathans of Turkey and people from all over the middle east and central Asian countries in that particular place. As a consequence, the Telugu language in that particular part is vastly influenced/diluted from its original form & is different from coastal Andhra areas which were not much under the influence of invaders. Now we are being told that this Telangana Telugu is proof of the fact that there were two different communities altogether and racial justification are been created as to why Telangana was always a separate entity historically from Andhra, This is how History is being used. Also read about the demographics of North-East India, Thanks to Illegal immigration, it will only tell you, over a point of time a free living space will be created where the ratio and the demographic balance will be inverted altogether and after a point of time, The third wave of separatism and the third round of partition will start in this Country. Therefore recontextualizing history is not a discussion that is meant for the educated elites sitting in air condition rooms having wine or tea, it is meant for everyone to have a say in because it is bound to affect you on a regular basis. The idea of India has already undergone a Grotesque change in the last 15 - 20 years and is undergoing even more grotesque change right in front of our eyes on a daily basis we are being told Kashmir had nothing to do with Indian culture at all that the History of Kashmir and the language of Kashmir, The culture of Kashmir was always different and alien to that of India. So the 'Sharada Peet' had apparently nothing to do with India at all! So much so that the Kashmiri language is out on its way from Kashmir and it is being replaced by Urdu, not Arabic.
Central message: Kindly do not leave discussions on History only to Scholars/Influencers/News creators, you have a say in it. College campus in Tamilnadu, College campus in West Bengal, History plays an important role in the segregation of people and in targetting people in isolation of people based on language, caste, etc. It starts at that level and goes on to the top levels.
If you look into CBSE textbooks, it starts with only 1 C.E and 1 A.D as if India did not have an existence before that. It repeats the same nonsense that westerners have thrust on us. Aryans from central Asia came on horseback 2500 years ago and they invaded Indus valley civilization and Harappa and Mohenjadaro civilization what you know as India today is the product of that rape, butchery, savagery, and invasion, this is the nonsense that has been peddled. The government of India endorses this kind of untruth and this kind of Historical distortions foreigners are bound to latch on to it. Those who are interested in driving a wedge between Indians will certainly latch on to it. Needless to continue on the Devanagari script and Dravidian languages.
Lack of Historical sense and lack of identity is the reason that today Europe does not have an answer to the troubles that are facing it. There is a decent chance that 70% of the people might say, All I'm interested in is the development and nothing else. All I'm interested is in increasing the livelihood and the standard of living of the people that's all. Europe did the same, but they don't have an answer to the identity crisis facing them today - Immigration, because they don't know who they are, because they think it is wrong on their part to say that we are Europeans of different heritage altogether, that we subscribe to a different set of values, they feel ashamed about professing their different values because it has become politically incorrect. What passes off as secularism in this Country is called multi-culturalism in Europe. It is meant to brush aside facts, Suppress facts, and relegate them to the dustbin of History at the expense of History and at a huge cost to people.
For the person on the street who struggles for two square meals a day, History is irrelevant, because what he bothers about and what he cares about & what he should be bothered about is his livelihood on a daily basis. No doubt. But then you can go to a 5-star Hotel in Delhi you'll find a 61/2' tall broad Sardar standing as a guard at door and then a white tourist decides to enter the place you can see a marked difference in his behavior immediately. Wherein he bows down and greets him with Namaste, this is our hospitability. Put yourselves in the same shoes, which European restaurant where you get the same treatment or similar treatment from their bar tenders or waiters? The problem is servility has become synonymous with a service mentality. Being hospitable is not the same as becoming a slave to somebody else. But unfortunately, if you are repeatedly told that for generations together you had been slaves & you continued to be slaves. Your entire value system is a bunch of humbugs and a load of superstition & you are bound to think of yourselves as people who deserve to be treated like slaves.
Have you heard of any incidents against Arabs in Australia? Can an Arab student be killed the way an Indian student is killed in Australia? There will be repercussions, Humility is the central feature of Indians, and Humility is one of the misunderstood traits as far as Indian History is concerned. Humility means there could be someone better than me, recognizing the fact that there could be someone superior to me, but that doesn't translate to accepting that I'm inferior to everybody else and that is the definition of humility as far as India is concerned.
Are we aware of the wars undertaken by Chola Kings in Southeast Asia, How many Chola kings are we aware of?
Are we aware of the fact that it took five different armies of five different Sultanates to destroy the Vijayanagara Empire/Civilization and the rampage of Hampi went on for 6 months?
All we hear is a tomb for somebody's second or third wife and I suspect he had a wife after that, and his daughter also performed the role of a wife later this is a fact. When Shah Jahan was imprisoned along with his daughter by Aurangzeb, there are written records that effectively say that his daughter effectively had to take up the role or don the mantle of a wife & yet the tomb is supposed to be the symbol of his love for his wife. Is there nothing else worth showcasing in India?
If you go to a Country like America, the earliest they can showcase is a structure running before about 300 or 400 years, 300 - 400 years there would be a temple at least in every village in India, and most temples at least in South are 2500 years or 2000 years old. In the North, however, are effectively wiped out by invaders.
To know the details read, Sita Ram Goel's - "What happened to Hindu Temples"
Read Dharmpal, Koenraad Elst, David Frawley, Michel Danino, Max Muller.
Max Muller - India what it can teach us
He is the proponent of Aryan invasion theory, but in this book he says, There's not a single thought in the World which has not been taught in India, that something that does not exist in India cannot exist elsewhere.
PS: Recontextualising History is not about knowing certain facts and certain dates it is first of all about understanding the value of History and then focusing on the facts. If the mind is not fertile ground to receive facts because it doesn't find value in receiving facts, there is no point in accumulating facts. As long as there is no change in perception and attitude, the truth will have no effect on the mind

You can read that for free at the library. That's like $0 vs. $400 a credit. you will make more money on this channel (which does not need a college degree) that the college degree will ever generate. Save your money and invest it in an index fund or something.

In French - “Les cahiers de doléances”. English would be “notebooks/ledgers of grievances”.
